The WFB Admins’ Top 15 “Supernatural” Episodes List: #14
So you’ve seen our #15 picks in our Top #15 “Supernatural” episodes list. I wonder if you agreed with our choices? I think we each struggled to get our lists down to 15 and rank them and as Alice said, not make them all #1! It’s really hard! And it sure doesn’t get any easier the further into the list we go!
Anyway, here are our choices for #14.
sweetondean’s #14:
“It’s a Terrible Life”
Why: Hmmm, Dean on the cleanse, all smooth shaven in a suit? Ok, that’s not the only reason (though it’s a good one).
I find that I watch this episode quite a lot. It’s on high rotation on my rewatch list. I love how the boys still come together, even though they’re different people. They still work brilliantly as a team, even though they thought they’d never worked together. Thinking on their feet, tossing weapons back and forth. I love it. It shows that no matter what, they will always be this amazing duo.
It’s a neat haunting story and it’s nice and gory. I like gory. The microwave head cooking scene, the pencil to the neck, the elevator chop! Icky and awesome.
It’s a really clever script. It’s funny. It has great references, from The Ghostfacers, to Madison and the vet clinic, to Bob, Ellen and Jo, to the boy’s names Smith & Wesson. Clever.
I also totally love Zachariah. I love that smug, fat-faced angel! He’s just so awful!
Favourite Quote: Dean: Save it for the health club, pal.
(Hee hee!)
Favourite Scene:I adore the montage at the top. Supernatural gives great montage.
But my favourite scene is when Zachariah tells Dean why he loves hunting. There have been moments in the last couple of seasons where I’ve felt like sitting Dean down to watch this scene. Zachariah: “You’re a hunter. Not because your dad made you, not because God called you back from hell, but because it is what you are. And you love it. You’ll find your way to it in the dark every single time and you’re miserable without it. Most folks live and die without moving anything more than the dirt it takes to bury them. You get to change things. Save people. Maybe even the world. All the while you drive a classic car and fornicate with women. This isn’t a curse, it’s a gift!” And you can even see Dean begrudingly agrees….at least about the fornicating bit!
Yup. Right on you smug, fat-faced angel you!
Aedeospina – I totally agree with your favorite scene but not only is Jared spot on with the whole sequence the fact that Jensen doesn’t even blink or turn to look makes me lose it every time. All he does is call out to make sure Sam is okay. It makes me wonder what had occurred between the restaurant and the apartment. 🙂
I can’t imagine being able to narrow my choices down to 15 episodes, but I am enjoying your selections, ladies!
So far, I enjoy them all, but wouldn’t dare try to rank.
🙂
I love all these episodes. More power to you 3 – I cannot get my favorites down to only 15! Looking forward to 13.
Two things:
Sweetenedean – Thank you! I cannot believe that all the times I saw that episode I never caught the Smith and Wesson reference!
Alice – love all the things you point out, but would add Sam’s rant at the fairy lady, ending with, all that’s missing is a dozen cats! The first time I saw that, I laughed so hard I cried!
This is such a fun read. I loved all of these episodes. I think I’d have a hard time choosing between It’s a Terrible Life and Bad Day at Bedrock. My favorite line in Terrible Life was the one, “I’m going to do a public service and tell you that you share too much” (paraphrased, I’m sure).
I might put Tall Tales ahead of Clap your hands story-wise, but dialogue-wise, I would go with Clap Your Hands. I agree, Sam’s dialogue throughout was hilarious.
I’ve decided to watch all of your choices from now until Jan. 16. Thanks for the mini-marathon idea! 🙂 Now, let’s see if I can actually do it before hellatus is over.
Great Choices, Ladies. I have to say, Alice, that my favorite part of that whole episode is Sam with that tiny cup in his giant hands. “Do you have bigger cups?” HAAAAAA……
I have my top 15 down to about 27 episodes now…can I count all of season 6 as one episode? It would help 😀
All were great, but Clap Your Hands- funniest episode ever!! It put me in the floor laughing every time.jared was just gold in that one. One funny comment after another. And Jensen. Fighting the fairy. ( when there is really nothing there!) Priceless. And when he is describing the fairy to Sam. He says nipples and points his fingers. I die every time I watch it
Clap your Hands…Jarad’s timing and expressions were spot on. When he was responding to Dean about how he should have sat in the dark and worried about his missing brother rather than having sex he said, “it was in the dark”, I couldn’t stop laughing. I’m crying with laughter now just remembering that line.
Nice picks! “Clap Your Hands” is an episode that I originally thought jumped a little too far over the shark, but on subsequent viewings, I have so much fun! Soulless Sam was delightful. Tragic, but delightful. Dean tackling the lawyer was pretty great too. Thanks for reminding me.
My #14 episode is “Abandon All Hope”. There aren’t really words to describe watching Ellen and Jo stay behind in the hardware store, or the goodbye kiss Dean gives Jo – so many feels in this one. Add the fact that they managed to get to Lucifer and shoot him in the face, only to have him heal up and toss them aside. The scene at the end when they burn the picture is appropriately heartbreaking.
This would be higher, but I thought that it started a little slow, and more so, you’ll see my list get happier as it goes on. One thing I found after making this list is that even though my favorite scenes in Supernatural are the more emotional, heart-wrenching scenes, when considering entire episodes, I tended to rank the more humorous ones higher. You definitely learn some new things about yourself in this endeavor!
“Nobody likes the sound of that, Bobby! But… what, what does that sound like?” – Dean
Great work ladies, I love these episodes as well.
Ardeospina, in your first quote from the episode CYHIYB, I love the last line of Dean’s that you didn’t put in:
Dean: Close encounter! Close encounter!
Sam: Close encounter? What kind? First? Second?
Dean: They’re after me!
Sam: Third kind already? You better run, man. I think the fourth kind is a butt thing.
Dean: Empathy man, empathy!
I actually use this quote a lot in real life, its a shame though that nobody knows where I’m quoting it from!
my fav is blown away
