The Best Deleted Scenes
Season Five
There’s only one deleted scene to choose from (what, no cut Sam sex scene from “Free To Be You and Me?” Outrage!) but it’s really good. Rob Benedict had told us at the Chicago and NJ cons that many one liners were written during his convention scene in “The Real Ghostbusters” but because of time only a few of them made it at the end. Luckily, they decided on the DVD to show the rest. They’re hilarious! They include:
– His apology for his negative depiction of witches. There are certainly good witches too. ”I never meant to offend anyone in the Wicked community.”
– ”I don’t really listen to Classic Rock when I write. I usually just pour myself a drink and crank up the Juice Newton and let the words flow.”
– It goes on further about his crush on Nancy McKeon. The publicist did send an autographed headshot and she writes her o’s as little hearts.
– ”You know, I’m pretty sure the reason that Madison didn’t grow hair when she turned into a werewolf was because she had mange.”
– His hobbies include drinking, funny car racing, and macrame.
– His favorite supporting character is Bela. He gets MAJOR boos from the audience.
– He ponders the notion that a shapeshifter could change his clothes too, essentially becoming a clothes shifter.
– ”No, I can’t read your Livejournal short story. No I get it. Sam and Dean really love each other. I just don’t need to see that.”
– Is he scared of ghosts? He’s scared of everything.
– His father is more like Bobby than John. Except he’s older, doesn’t have a beard and is gay.
Rob is told that’s it and it all ends in laughter. Good one Kripke!
Oh screw it. Here are the pictures of Sam’s deleted sex scene. You get to write your own scene!
So, did you care for any of these? Which is your favorite? Or do you think deleted scenes are just unnecessary filler to pad DVD sets?
I love the deleted scenes, it is one of the first things I check out when I get the DVD set. I was rather disappointed when I got the Season 3 set and poof… no deleted scenes.
I also think the scene with Dean looking at his watch in The Pilot, may have gotten cut in part also because if you watch when the Impala turns around to go back to Sam and Jessica’s, you can see Sam in the passenger seat. Maybe lots of people wouldn’t have noticed it, but I have this crazy thing that my late husband and I use to do. We used to see who could spot inconsistencies in tv shows and movies. The one who could spot the most, could ask for a special favor. ;-), Okay I admit my special favor most of the time was him doing the laundry for the week. 😀 And sometimes old habits die hard. But I digress, again, as usual.
Thanks Alice, your list is great as usual. I did really love the Chuck montage of one liners. Made me giggle. Out of the extras on the DVD’s, deleted scenes rank #2 for me. The Gag Reel is always #1.
Thanks for this interesting article. 🙂 I’ve always thought that the deleted scenes for the past seasons (I have not seen the DVD for Season 5 yet) provided some interesting insight.
This was fun, Alice!
I always check out the deleted scenes and put them into the episode within my head. It often paints a bigger picture, though some are, as you point out above, quite unnecessary. I hope there are some on the dvds of the fifth season, too. And on the upcoming ones….
THanks a lot, Jas
Hi Alice
I too love the deleted scene and as with Jasminka, I like to invision them into the episode.
What…only two mentions of Sam and Dean’s airport scene? That one has stuck in my mind forever.
Loved the article, Alice.
Hi, Alice,
I’m late to this party but I hadn’t seen that portion of the DVDs yet so I didn’t want to be spoiled! (Huh, so there’s my will power on spoilers, wondered where it got to!)
Anywho, I do enjoy these deleted scenes, next to the gag reel they’re my next stop when I get the DVDs. Actually a bit bummed that all there is this year is for episode 9, would have hoped for some more. On the other hand, the snippets that we get with Bobby’s voiceover are pretty fun and I enjoy ‘prowling’ through his house.
Only one more week until Season 6 comes…way cool
I’m also late to the party because took me extra time to rip the plastic off my S5 DVD set and watch the special features.
I have to say I was disappointed that “the” cut Sam scene from FTBYAM wasn’t on the DVD. This is the only time I’ve known before DVD came out that a specific scene was cut .. and I was looking to see on DVD.
in the bluray of season 6 theres a easter egg of a deleted scene in the western ep but thats it season7 will have deleted scene so I was told. the season 5 had not a damn thing on the dvd and I am pissed the sex part with sam and that girl well not good for the story but damn it I wanted to see it they got something on youtube but I want more.
