sweetondean’s Spoiler-Lite Preview of “Supernatural” 9.03 “I’m No Angel”
It’s preview time for the 3rd episode of season 9. What? I feel like we were just waiting for the season to start and we’re already looking at episode 3!
Anyhoo, confession time. I loved last week’s episode sooooooo much (could ya tell?), that I didn’t want to watch any previews and spoil my buzz…so I only just watched them and I’ve got to say…the sneak peek is a corker! But before I go there…
THEN
Sam was dying for real…
Ezekiel said he could heal…
So Dean did a deal.
Now Sam’s angel powered but he doesn’t know…
(It’s super hot when he gets that smitey glow.)
Dean’s all guilty but happy to have his bro…
Zeke keeps popping up to tell Dean stuff he needs to know.
Fans are wondering where this is going to go…
While waiting for their hearts to take another hurty blow!
And… Cass is in the wind.
NOW
Where is Castiel? How’s he getting by in the human world? Has he figured out the whole ablutions thing yet? Did he take Sam or Dean’s nutritional habits to heart? Are the angels still on his perky ass? How come it takes him forever to get to the bunker when the Impala can get there in a day from anywhere in the United States? Oh my gosh, he’ll need to get his driver’s license! I see him on a scooter. I think he’d suit that. Beep beep!
Let’s check out the synopsis!
“I’m No Angel”
CASTIEL IS HUNTED BY THE ANGELS — Ezekiel tells Dean a group of angels is hunting Castiel. Dean and Sam race to find their friend before the angels do. Meanwhile, a homeless Castiel is trying to make his way through the city and comes across some unexpected surprises. Kevin Hooks directed the episode written by Brad Buckner & Eugenie Ross-Leming.
It’s okay you’re allowed to say, OH DRATS, when you see who wrote this episode. Maybe we’ll be surprised… *insert optimistic grin here*
So, Cass obviously couldn’t find his way to the bunker. I thought that might have been a tad optimistic of Dean. I wonder what the unexpected surprises are? But mostly I wonder if Ezekiel will reveal himself to Cass or if Dean will ask Zeke to keep it under wraps around his other angel buddy?
Let’s check the promo.
Cass’ human, but he’s been hanging with a couple of hunters for a few years now so he’s learnt a few tricks — I’m talking the fighting, but I could also be talking the kissing! Is this the chick that hangs around for a bit? Is this the episode where Cass loses his cherry? Does he get his gear off again? Because these writers have got Dean’s gear off a couple of times (bless them), maybe it’s their thing. Or is this girl more interested in angel blading Cass, rather than making out? (Silly girl!)
While we’re on it, how do we feel about Cass getting a bit? Good, bad, hell no, hell yes? And how do we feel about Cass being out there on his own? I guess the brothers have had other stuff going on, but if they know Cass’ grace is gone and they know he’s human now…why aren’t they ringing him? Though maybe his phone has gone flat and I would think he probably used to charge it up with angel power. Bet he doesn’t even have a cord! Or know where to put it! All these things. So many things to learn.
Okay, let’s look at the preview clip because I FREAKIN’ love this preview clip…
So first, I giggled like a fangirl (which I am) when I saw Dean was still wearing the dead guy robe, then I swooned all over the place when I realised he was in his t-shirt and boxer briefs…lord have mercy…then I giggled again at his scuffing! Then I awww’d because Sam is feeling well enough to go for a run and watch a pretty sunrise, then I nawww’d when Sam had an extra greasy breakfast for Dean that he’s not even going to argue about. I was feeling all-nice in the broment…until…I GASPED! Then I may have clapped my hands — seal claps! I was completely taken by surprise when Zeke popped up! I may have yelled out…OH MY GOD THAT WAS AWESOME.
I’m actually pretty surprised we keep seeing him. I must admit I thought he wouldn’t be popping in and out so much. I bet Dean thought he wouldn’t be popping in and out so much! Dean’s awkward face. Awkward, awkward, uncomfortable face. Geesh. I mean, there he was having a nice moment with his bro and up pops Zeke. How disconcerting. Every single conversation Dean has with Sam, Zeke is hearing. I don’t like that bit. But I really like it…if you know what I mean. It’s completely fascinating to me. The whole dynamic and how it’s going to proceed with both Dean’s relationship with Sam and his relationship with Zeke. This is such a kickass premise! Which is pretty much why I didn’t watch the previews for ages, because I want to hang with Sam and Dean and Zeke and watch what happens there. I don’t want to be pulled out of that story, not even by Cass whose story looks like it’s going to be cool. But I’m so into this whole Sam/Zeke/Dean triangle! Man, it’s baffling good.
How do you all feel about it and how often we’re seeing the angel in Sam clothing? Are you excited? I’m excited. I’m loving the Zeke/Sam thing way more than I thought I would. I’m so excited to see where Show takes it and what the fallout is…even if it smarts.
Right, let’s hear your theories and thoughts on what to expect from this week’s new episode!
And don’t forget to check out our spoiler page for a round up of all the latest interviews about what’s to come and to check out some more photos from the ep.
Enjoy and I’ll see you soon in reviewland.

EDDDDIT! CHCH promo
I feel like I need to sit Zeke down and have a little chat to him. Um Zeke, buddy, this popping in and out…yeah…that’s kind of weird. Look, I dig you and all and I dig that you’re protectng my boys with your angelly wrath and truth be known it’s pretty hot when Sammy’s eyes get all glowy, but…yeah…you’re starting to freak me out a bit.
Nice to see Dean whip out an angel blade. Technically, they should have a few by now…though they do drop ALL their weapons. (Bungee cords, guys. BUNGEE. CORDS.)
Also, Cass kissing… Oo-er! I guarantee you the promo producer laughed his or her ass off with the placement of that grimacing, head back shot after the kissing shot. Um.
Right…where were we? Oh yes, enjoy the ep! Fingers and one eye crossed Ackles style that B & E get this one right!
As you were.

I agree, the Sam/Zeke/Dean interaction is so awesome to see!
Also I loved your little poem at the beginning ;D
I think zeke is awesome, Jared is such a good actor. But here is what I think, Zeke has an ulterior motive. I think he is hanging around to get info on where Cas is at, and then try to either destroy him, or help him.
Loved your poem. 🙂 I’m looking forward to this episode, can’t wait to see how Cass makes out as a human. Even though he’s learned a few things from the Winchesters, he’s still like a lost puppy. And I love the Zeke/Sam aspect of it all, althouth I agree with Karaheart that Zeke probably has some sort of ulterior motive. Jared is so good at playing dual roles, I’m glad he gets to do it again.
Glad to know I’m not the only one really getting into the whole Sam/Zeke/Dean thing lol… man, when Sam’s eyes flash blue, it is just wicked! And the look on Dean’s face..yeah, well, buddy you’re the one who told him he could sub-let Sam’s headspace. Of *course* he’s gonna pop into the convo now and then. As for Cas…I wish him luck, I really do. Hopefully he finally figures out that good intentions are one thing…consequences are another. Out of all the angels to date..he’s the only one to even TRY and understand things from the human side of the equation. So, I’m gonna just kick back and enjoy the wild ride this season is gearing up to be. =)
Gotta admit, while I’m loving this season, and the Sam/Zeke/Dean stuff, I’m really nervous about this episode… and not in a good way.
First – it’s my least favourite writers, and that makes me anxious right off the bat.
Second – an episode about human Cas trying to cope – by these writers. 😮 (I’m expecting more sloppy comic relief than anything)
Third – I love the way Zeke keeps listening in, and popping out to chat with Dean, and wondering just WHEN Sam’s going to clue in, and how that’s going to happen.. Oh, my heart! ….. But again… with these writers….. I’m hoping it isn’t just lame in this episode…
I know, I should probably be more willing to give them the benefit. And if they should knock one out of the park at some point, I’ll be willing to eat my words, but…. Not so looking forward to this one. Nerves are shot!
But hey! 3rd episode! We’ve got a lot of awesome yet to come.
I’m right there with you in the Sam/Zeke/Dean camp. I’m loving that storyline.
I must admit, though, that I’m not real thrilled about exploring Cas’ humanness, especially with these two writers. Every time I hear anything about this episode, I immediately think of Daphne, Emmanuel’s wife (and Jimmy’s memories of his wife and daughter), and it makes me think Cas is one slow fellow.
Carver said the first three episodes would set up the stories for this season, so I’ll watch and see how it goes. Seeing Zeke pop out and surprise Dean will be worth it. I love watching Dean feel his way through this situation, and I’m curious to see how Sam’s ‘healing’ process goes.
I am soo excited about this episode! Almost as much as the premiere. Now I’m not a Cas girl, but the preview has me wanting to see what happens to him and my heart breaking at the same time! I am a girl who says YES to him getting it on – he deserves it (think of how Anna discussed it with Dean) and needs it! 8)
Have to agree with st50 – Not my favorite writers, but I’ll give them a shot since the previews looks so super fantastic! Who knows maybe we’ll be pleasantly surprised? (fingers crossed :-* )
I too am loving the Sam!Zeke story line. 😀 It’s kinda freaky the way Zeke keeps jumping in, but I love the acting and the drama. Poor Dean though as I’m sure it’s just tearing him apart even more with each interaction. Sam is feeling great but Dean knows why … eeekkksss – awkward much?!
This season so far is amazingly great and I don’t have anything but love for it. 🙂
I may be in the minority, but I’m appalled at the whole angel possession concept. Possession on this show has always been something horrible – something that if the victim survived, required years of therapy to get over. Sam’s first possession, by Meg, was a nightmare for him and resulted in the boys getting anti-possession tattoos to keep anything like that from ever happening again. The entirety of season 5 was about Sam and Dean resisting angel possession. Dean made up the terms “angel condom” and “Team Free Will.” Dean watched Zachariah break Sam’s legs and give Dean stomach cancer and still said “No.” I keep remembering Sam in that motel room in 5.03, when Lucifer taunted Sam and said he would eventually let Lucifer in and Sam said, “That’s not going to happen. I’ll kill myself first.”
I get that it’s a blockbuster storyline. I get that it’s a really cool acting challenge for JP, and he’s awesome. Visually, Sam makes a stunning angel. But I’m a character person, and the character of Sam Winchester that they’ve created over the years will be horrified by this violation.
The fact that Ezekiel can know Sam’s every thought and feeling and then share with Dean whatever he thinks will convince Dean his choice was right makes my skin crawl. And now he randomly pops out during breakfast to keep Dean’s doubts in check? Ugh.
I have little confidence they could ever allow Sam to have an appropriate response to this violation. And they didn’t have to do this. They could have had him just get better after stopping the trials. They had him gravely injured so they could go this route. I repeat, ugh.
And if they end up brushing this off by saying it’s okay because of love, well, I just don’t know.

I totally agree on the possession thing. I find it creepy and wrong on so many levels. I’m also 99% sure that Zeke will be a “good angel” so that Dean will be able to say that Sam was never really harmed so Sam should (to paraphrase Dean in the Mentalists) stop being a whiny bitch about the whole thing. This is really a good story on many levels, but I doubt that Sam not wanting to be possessed, or have his mind wiped, or live rather than ever be an angel condom again will get more that a cursory nod that Sam actually WAS violated. I expect there will be lots of why Dean feels so bad about aiding the violation and that Sam’s feelings may/will be discounted.
I’m with you sweetondean on the Sam/Zeke/Dean triangle. In fact I love Dean’s interactions with Zeke. He has this whole guilt, suspicion and uncomfortable feeling written all over his face. Its a treat to watch a conflicted Dean. Jensen is amazing with facial expressions.
I also love the way Jared brings out Zeke. He has a separate identity and the viewers know instantly when Zeke is popping out (even without the blue eyes stuff).
Its nice that Zeke can tell Dean what he needs to hear (cos he’s in Sam’s head) but it may become a little problematic if he cues in on all of the Winchester conversations. If he’s a bad guy then he’s going to get a wealth of info that he can use against the brothers.
Keeping my fingers crossed that Zeke is trustworthy.
Cas’s storyline seems interesting. I’m hoping for some light humor but not the slapstick ones. The situation Cas finds himself in can be made dark and dangerous or light and funny. Not sure which way this episode is going to go. Can’t wait to watch it…
there were 3 or 4 clips in the past. did someone stop airing Supernatural. chcp tv, space tv, cwtv and I am sure I am missing one.
thanks AMY I love the preview clips 8)
NOLANOLA I don’t remember Space previews, but the CHCH previews only went up if someone in Canada posts them on YouTube. That usually happens later on in the week, if it happens. I admit the CHCH preview pretty well spoiled me that Sam was going to be possessed by Zeke, so I’m leery about watching them now. They may still be put up, but since they aren’t official for the US it takes a while.
thanks percysowner, long time for me.
have a wonderful pig-in-a-poke tuesday 😮
Yay, new episode, thanks Sweetondean! I like Castiel and I have hopes that the way his story was being dealt with in the premiere is the way the story continues to go since Misha has all sorts of complexities of acting ability that he doesn’t really get to do normally on the show, looking forward to seeing him getting to stretch his wings …. oh we need a whole new phrase for that now ….
And I really can’t wait to hear what Dean was going to say next having suddenly been faced by an angel instead of Sam…I hope there IS a ‘next’ and that wasn’t the whole thing.
I totally agree on the possession thing. I find it creepy and wrong on so many levels.
I agree too, but that is really a part of why it is fascinating, it is so freaky.
I also agree that they need to not drop these emotional beats if they are going to set them up for us – in the end just say ‘all that? well we wanted to see what would happen, but nothing did so we are going to let it go.’ (like a certain first half of a season that we won’t talk about).
I can see me after the first half of this season being over being able to look back with real enjoyment and say ‘oh you know that was great because it set up this thing that happened’ but right at the moment ‘suspicious’ is my state of mind 😕 😉

It is so creepy and freaky! When I say I gasped, I really did. Zeke’s like this creeper eavesdropper. I bet Dean’s heart started pounding when Zeke appeared. It was so surprising. It felt so wrong. But that’s why I’m liking it, because my tummy flips and I’m torn between how much I love the Zeke persona, how wonderfully JP is playing him, Dean’s reactions, the elegance of how JA is conveying Dean’s unease, and my overall squicked outness by the whole thing!
The show is screwing with me emotionally. Again.
I think Dean’s going to need to explain to another angel the whole personal space thing.

It’s difficult to explain personal space to someone that is inside another, though.

Oh, *thoughtful* ‘Zeke’ having personal space issues around Dean / people in general ….like Cas used to …. *more thoughtful, distracted*
Regardless of why it’s happening isn’t it great to see Sam actually smiling!
Regardless of why it’s happening isn’t it great to see Sam actually smiling!
Yes it is! I hope that isn’t taken away from him somehow. Let him have all the other range of human emotions too but allow him to also feel good and smile once in awhile!!
What I want to know is …. is that pink shirt Sam’s choice or Zeke’s? If it is Zeke’s he needs to stop being in charge pronto.
If it is Sam all I can do is shake my head
Now the raspberry coloured sweater in the promo pictures is a totally different story. That can stay…
I am really looking forward to this episode, but like st50 I am worried about the writers. I am interested in Cas’s story, but not if they resort to the ridiculous slapstick comedy we saw in Clip Show (yuck!). JC took a somewhat more serious view of Cas’s journey in 9×1 making his struggle more poignant than comedic, and I for one hope that this trend continues but I am sorry to say that I don’t have much faith in this writing team to achieve something as subtle as poignancy.
And like you SoD, I am loving the whole Sam/Zeke/Dean triangle specifically because it is so conflicting and muddled and complex. What Dean did, was so necessary and yet so wrong and he feels so guilty about it that its really quite a wonderful story line and it’s giving Jensen so much goodness to play. Every one of Dean’s lines seems so loaded with double meanings and subtext, what actor wouldn’t relish that type of thing? The fact that Sam is feeling good and is happier than ever is somehow even more difficult to him to bear. I can’t wait to see how this plays out; there are so many directions that TPTB could take this angel possession thing that could really work, although if Zeke turns out to have ulterior motives that could really give Dean’s character a heap of trouble later in the season. It might be kind of nice to see Dean at the center of a controversy and struggling to figure out what to do and how to fight a monster that’s essentially holding his brother hostage. It could also be cool to see him trade places with Sam and host Zeke himself… or be forced to give Cas up to Zeke to take on Metatron… all great options in which this story could go.
I’m not a huge fan of little Tracy and her Daisy Dukes and snarky Samhate. I am really, Really, REALLY hoping that she’s not some potential love interest for Dean (blick! and ick!) and basically hope that we don’t have to see her again. I’ve long felt that another strong female character like Ellen, Charlie, Jody or even the short lived Gwen would be a wonderful addition to the show but Tracy ain’t that. And she got to drive the Impala. 😡
Hi E!! What’s up. Just wanted to tell you I heard Tracy was a fan of Dr. Pepper. She can’t be ALL that bad. (I bet that deserves TWO green faces). You don’t usually haul out the green faces for anything but DP. 😀
E! I’ve missed you. I like how they did Cas in 9.1 too. I hope they keep that up. I saw a hilarious clip from Torcon of Misha talking about how Cas is the only socially awkward angel. And I’m loving how the triangle thing too. So far this season been great.
But I’m weird I liked that the brought up the Lucifer thing that way. I liked that Dean defended him too. And Tracy didn’t bother me. But if she comes back then need to dig a little deeper for sure.
E, I think that the fact Dean called Tracy “kid” eliminates her as a possible romantic hookup. The only thing I liked about her was how Dean didn’t give her the silent how you doing. He didn’t look at her like some hot chick. I appreciated that his character was allowed to be a grown up and not leer and the girl in the cutoffs!
I’m also in the camp of hoping Cass’ journey is meaningful and not comic. Clip Show had the trip to buy Dean pie scene right? I thought I was the only one who disliked that scene! So badly timed. I have a pet peeve around Cass always being used as the comic relief. Though it can work, there’s a time and a place. I’m hoping that we get less of that style of writing for his character moving forward.
But yeah, these writers…I have all the same reservations. Like I said, we’re allowed to go DRAT!
😕
Hi, SoD, Leah, Kelly,
Yes, I took a bit of time off… I am a teacher and things have been hectic lately, but I’m baaaack!! Ah, Tracy! a fan of DP? Ugh, that poor, poor tart… uh, girl. She’d better lay off those DP’s or she won’t be able to squeeze herself into those extremely tight and short shorts much longer. It’s true though, Dean really did look at her and treat her like the kid she was. Dean needs a woman, fully grown and as smart and tough as he is, not some green, wet behind the ears kid in crotch length cut offs! AND she hates Sam… nuff said.
FYI and totally beside the point.. I quit drinking any and all soda about 4 months ago, so now all soda (even my beloved Diet Coke with Lime) gets a big ol’ 😡 from me!
Hey, Yay! glad your back. I’ve been really busy too. I found that panel where Misha talks about establishing angels
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aOrEBnJqWTg
It starts around 5 minutes. Just watch it until the end because you don’t want to miss the ball fondling conversation.
Dean needs a woman, fully grown and as smart and tough as he is…
*waves hands in the air*
😀
I think the time for using Cas as the comic relief has passed. He may be used for comedy but minority of the times. Now tptb have to deal with him being serious.I think they will pull it off.
As much as zeke endorsing Dean and his decision goes I am not really happy as I see no character for Sam in the same way.If Zeke is there only to give me insight about Dean then that might be a negative point for him from my side.
But as far the season progression goes it has left me hopeful, so that is a plus.

Dean needs a woman, fully grown and as smart and tough as he is…
*waves hands in the air*
:D
Of all the people Dean has had hookups with (the many) and those he’s had relationships with (the few) I thought the woman who suited him best by far was Carmen from the Djinn ep. and she wasn’t even real. MY second fav was Jamie from Monster Movie who really seemed to “get” Dean but they didn’t even manage to get it on. Poor Dean, his track record with women isn’t much better than Sam’s but at least most of Dean’s women are alive. 😆

Thanks percy! It’s now in the body of the piece.
#19: You’re right. it is wonderful to see Sam smiling regardless of the cause. he always looks so worried all the time, so this is refreshing.
#8 Tigerlilly2: You are absolutely correct to feel that way. This is yet another viioation of Sam’s body and mental integrity and it’s difficult to watch knowing that, yet I can’t tear myself away. (The argument that Sam’s body has never been his own – Azazel, Lucifer,Meg, Castiel,Ruby, and now Zeke – and that his physical integrity was always out of his control, since before he was born, is out there. )
Its both fascinating and creepy, knowing that Zeke is in there listening to their conversations and him popping out at odd moments, but JP is doing a fabulous job of it and that’s great to see, too.
Of course Supernatural has a long track record of violating the bodies of its heroes and then not adequately addressing the aftermath, so I don’t expect much with this storyline either.
I’m not so much upset at the possession as I am with the mid-wipes. That is seriously wrong and I think Sam’s real issue is going to be along those lines.
The mind-wiping is just wrong.

I’m with you on the mind wipe stuff – it’s always really bothered me.
Just thinking thru Sam & Dean finding Castiel. If Castiel is being hunted, and Zeke is still healing himself and Sam, that will pose a risk if Castiel goes back to the bunker with Sam and Dean (and Zeke) because Zeke will be in no condition to defend them against other angels. Just wondering how long they’re together, or whether they’re going to part ways again, at least until Sam and Zeke are better.
It’s true that the bunker isn’t Angel-proofed, but on the bright side, the Angels cannot teleport like they used to and can’t blow the place up or anything since they’re not at those levels of power anymore. The only way for them to get into the bunker is the old fashoned way, subterfuge, ambush or seige, just like any demon.
If Cas holes up in there, it would still be very difficult getting him out. So ,the best bet for them would be preventing Cas from reaching safety at all.

I spent the summer thinking well, they’ll be able to angel-proof the bunker now that Cas is human, but with Zeke inside Sam that kinda won’t work. Carver is good … darn him! Wonder if Sam will bring that up … Dean will have a hard time trying to come up with a good excuse …
