#6 – Dean’s Death Montage ““ “Mystery Spot” This is a prime example of why Supernatural is so great. Death can be funny. The genius behind this show tapped into comedic gold just by killing off one of the two leads again, and again, and again. They just had to do so with all sorts of cartoonish ways. Then, they even…
Here it is, part two of my list of “Supernatural” go-to episodes. You know, those special episodes in my heart that are always one of the first I watch when I’m pulling out the “Supernatural” DVDs. I’ve forced myself in this exercise to pick just one for each season. That was nearly impossible for the…
Sorry to leave everyone hanging! As promised, numbers 1-6 of the Top Ten Brotherly Moments. #6 – Sam hugs Dean – “Mystery Spot” There are three brotherly hugs in the series. The first is when Dean hugs Sam after he’s resurrected in “All Hell Breaks Loose Part II”. “Mystery Spot” is the second, and the…
Death is a frequent fate for many recurring and one-time characters on Supernatural. In fact, characters die so often that death is often only temporary, with resurrection and a second (third, fourth, fifth) chance at life almost an expected aftermath of even the most dramatic death scenes. Sam has died seven times, according to Supernatural…

As I continue my look back at this vast catalog of episodes that “Supernatural” has graced us, I found there were a certain set of episodes that were not the “epics” of the series, but still fun to watch anyway. You know, those quiet little under the radar episodes that get lost in the 300+…
The Skin shapeshifter, in my opinion. I adore both of them, but Skin is probably one of my favourite episodes in the first season… I don’t know. I just find the idea of psychotic shapeshifters very, very creepy, and on the side of the mytharc it’s a good old horrorshow and I like to be scared. I like to be creeped out. If I didn’t, I’d watch My Little Pony.
I think the way each shapeshifter is written is clever, in that it shows how each of them “begins” the same, but grows to be what they are depending on their reaction to the circumstances and events of their up-bringing Mmm sounds a bit like our boys and the way they have reacted and grown. I personaly prefer the “darker” one in “skin”, still have a soft spot for the fun in Draculla!
Waiting for the next offering

I’d go with the Monster Movie shapeshifter, but the Skin shapeshifter gets bonus points for choosing Dean’s skin 😀
Hi, Alice,
Great comparisons between them all, I agree, for this particular adventure the shapeshifter in Nightshifter is out as his character wasn’t really part of the story, Ronald and Henricksen got those parts so we never knew the shapeshifter.
Both characters (Skin and Monster Movie) got to show their vulnerable sides, what haunted them and ‘made them’ still, they chose their paths and choosing evil is always a way to get killed, in the Supernatural world certainly.
I loved them both and can’t choose. It’s nice to have a multiple monsters from multiple seasons to curl up with when I’m in the mood for a shapeshifter triple play.
Great list.
Although i liked the shapeshifter in skin i just adore dracula! just so funny. both had a vulnerable side, similar experiences growing up and use violence to obtain their own ends, but the dracula monster i just feel is something a little deeper, he’s not just rage but is looking for love (going about it the wrong way) but is creative and random and has a million shades to him whereas all you see with the skin shapeshifter is rage and anger. plus loved the cloak!
Hmmm … Tricky …
Nightshifter ‘shifter gets points for being in such a total blinder of an episode and for inspiring Ron and his fabulously useless Mandroid theory … Bless …
Skin ‘shifter was evil, horrible, manipulative and twenty-seven flavours of vile so well done
him/her/it …
In the end my personal biscuit goes to the Monster Movie version for being splendidly daft ( the Vespa, the coupon, the leiderhosen … I could go on all night ) and actually rather touching at the end. It’s hard not to love a movie spod, whatever shape they are!
