Castiel – The Angel Knows How to Make An Entrance
How About…The Grand Exits?
So how many times has Castiel not only appeared when unexpected, but just left as well? It’s definitely been with deep ire to both Sam and Dean, but if he can’t use his angel powers to frustrate as well, what good is having them?
In The Beginning
Dean wants to know what’s going on. Castiel gives him the same line he did earlier, “You have to stop it.” Of course being the vague angel he is, “it” is never defined. Before Dean can get an answer, Cas disappears. “Are you allergic to straight answers you son of a bitch?”
On The Head of A Pin
This is my favorite, even if it really involves two angels. Castiel and Uriel are there waiting for Dean, and Sam just happens to be with him. They’ve come from Pamela’s funeral and Dean’s especially not in a good place. Once Dean’s told that he has no choice in coming with them, they all disappear, leaving one very frustrated Sam behind. “Dammit!†is all he can muster. Man, I really wish they could use harsher language.
I Believe The Children are Our Future
Again with Sam. After the brothers call him about this boy, Castiel knows this is the anti-Christ. Castiel wants to kill him, Sam refuses to let that happen. After the two share some choice words and an intense stare down, Castiel in a sense show’s his superiority by flying off in a flash. More Sam frustration, which for some reason makes me happy. It’s even better knowing that Cas goes to confront the boy and gets turned into an action figure. Then both Sam and Dean play with him! Ah, these little touches that make me really happy.
Sympathy For The Devil
Remember that really cool entrance? Castiel is gone just as fast, but first not without tagging the boys with some new rib carvings. Sam asks if he was really dead and gets a yes, but doesn’t get another answer because Castiel is not in the mood to answer unknown questions.
Dark Side of The Moon
Castiel has just found out about the conversation with Joshua, right down to the God won’t get involved part. Naturally, he’s not taking it well. After a brief moment of denial that’s gently smacked down by Sam, he curses God. Sam wants to help but Castiel is gone in a flash. So much for taking bad news well.
Point of No Return
THE best exit, period! Castiel has nothing left to lose. He needs to take on five angels by himself, clear them out so Sam and Dean can rescue Adam. How is he going to do that? The things box cutters can do! He takes out one angel but is surrounded by the other four. No, who knew that an angel banishing symbol drawn and touched on the chest could teleport five angels at once! Plus we finally get to see him bare chested. Awesome! But wait, Cas is gone too. Noooooo!!!!
There you have it. Which Castiel entrance is your favorite? Was there anything I missed? Come on and discuss since this angel is in sore need of some love.
Lovely hommage to our favourite angel, Alice! I adore Castiel! Even though we were told that angels did not have feelings and that their existence was an empty one due to that (as Anna explained to Dean once) – that is clearly not true.
This angel feels, loves, fears, is in pain, desperate, dead-pan. He developped into a true brother in arms, he’s family now.
My favourite Castiel scene (I don’t know if that’s an entrance though it’s at the beginning of the episode TheEnd) is his phone chat with Dean and Dean stopping him in his tracks with his I-need-to-attend-to-human-stuff speech and Cas is left standing on the street.
‘The voice says I’m almost out of minutes’ and ‘Okay, I’ll just wait here then’ – I love that.
But – I love the scenes you picked, too! These entrances indeed do him justice, Alice, and what great gift to your friend Jenniffer!
Love Jas
Good article Alice. I’m sure Jennifer will love this to no end.
Cass has had some great one-liners in his episodes. Especially liked him in The End. And he does make entrances so well!
Thanks for sharing this!
Loved this! Cas is so cute
Well done Alice. Castiel definatly deserved this and it shows once more how special this show is. Not only are the characters done well but also the special effects to enhance everything.
This was really fun, Alice! I didn’t realize Cass had so many fun exits and entrances! Now what I’d really like is for him to re-enter the show. 😉
Thanks Alice! This was awesome – Cas has a very special place in my heart.
As for my favourite entrance – well, I’m reserving judgment until his NEXT entrance – because even if he drives in on a tricycle, it’ll be great because he’s ALIVE!! Of the ones we’ve seen so far – his intro followed in a close second by Death Takes a Holiday.
