Updates: #SPN Cons, Family Business Beer Company and Supernatural Production Speculation
Well, the news keeps pouring in fast and furious, so I’ll keep this thread going for any new SPN Coronavirus related news. We’ve had a couple of items today.
Supernatural: The Official Convention – Nashville
Up first, SPN Nashville 2020 has been moved from April 17-19 to August 14-16. Part of me is holding out hope that it’s because the new shooting schedule will go well until April, but because of a new schedule or the virus itself, the con needs to move. Here’s the official announcement from Creation Entertainment:
Following worldwide safety protocols concerning the COVID-19 virus as well as supporting the health and safety of our guests, attendees and staff, we are moving the date of the Official Supernatural Convention in Nashville at the Gaylord Opryland Hotel from April 17-19, 2020 to NEW DATE: August 14-16, 2020!
We are currently working with each of the guests to move their appearance to the new date and we’ll keep you informed as each of the actors confirm. Already confirmed to attend is Jensen Ackles, Jared Padalecki, Misha Collins and more. Click here for updates!
We will be honoring all SPN Nashville admission passes (keeping your same great seats!) and a la carte autograph and photo op tickets for the new date. If you are unable to attend the convention in August, please contact customer.service@creationent.com for refunds and assistance.
Attendees must cancel their hotel reservations at this time. We will have new details and booking links with the hotels shortly, and we will update you with the new link as soon as possible.
As for flight cancellations, many air carriers have amended their policies and procedures during this health crisis to accommodate customers. Please contact your airlines directly for information.
Thank you for your support and understanding as we unite together through this challenging time. Please stay safe and we look forward to celebrating with our fellow Supernatural fans in Nashville this summer!

Family Business Beer Company
In other news, Jensen’s Family Business Beer Company in Dripping Springs, TX is closing for an undetermined amount of time. Here’s the announcement:
SPN Production Panic
As we reported a few days ago, Supernatural has shut down production temporarily. That has led to a ton of speculation and a lot of panic, considering the final two episodes of the series need to be shot. I’m here to set a few minds at ease and explain how this works.
Right now, everything is on hold in both the US and Canada for at least the next 15 days. The idea is to slow the progression of the virus so that hospitals are not overwhelmed by a lot of cases at once. Warner Brothers, as well as most if not all other TV studios, made the decision to stop production on all its shows that are currently shooting as a precaution. Right now, the anticipated time frame is two to three weeks, but it could go longer. This is not only true of TV productions, but everything.
Most TV productions can absorb a two week delay in the shooting schedule. The big issue right now are the pilots. Many pilots are shooting now as well and they are delayed. Things are up in the air for new pilots, like The CW’s “Lost Boys” and “Kung Fu.” If the shutdown lasts longer than anticipated, according to Deadline, “The longer the coronavirus crisis-related shutdown goes on, the more likely is that many — if not all — pilots are not made, and the networks make pickup decisions based on other factors, like big production commitments.”
“Superman and Lois,” a show that went straight to series for The CW, was supposed to shoot a pilot anyway. That pilot has now been cancelled and they will just go on to its series order when shooting starts sometime this summer. While I have not heard of the plans to shoot an official Pilot for “Walker,” speculation is that since it has already made the CW schedule for next year, the Pilot will be put off until shooting for the series begins.
As of right now, none of the Vancouver shows have announced shorter seasons. Some of the airing schedules are changing, but no determination has been made of remaining episodes to be shot. “Supernatural” and “The 100” are in a unique situation that other shows are not, their shows are ending. They have contractually been given a number of episodes to finish and they will eventually be filmed. (Correction – apparently “The 100” wrapped the same day the shutdown was announced so they are done).
So, how long will “Supernatural” be off? Best case a few weeks, worst case longer. But the show will be completed. Chances are very good the series finale air date will be pushed back, but it will be aired in its intended form. If you don’t believe me, then here’s this confirmation from SPN producer Jim Michaels:
When it is safe to return to work, we will finish what we have started. #SPNFamily #Supernatural @cw_spn https://t.co/km93uukFyb
