Memorable Moments: Supernatural 11.16 – “Safe House”

Welcome to “Memorable Moments”. Each week I will visually recap what I felt were the best and most memorable moments from that episode. The list may vary from week to week, depending on what has transpired in that particular episode.

Side note: With this article I’m doing something different this week. Some of the categories will have two entries one from the past(Bobby and Rufus) and from the present(Sam and Dean). I had to include the reunion of our Grumpy Old Men of Letters, Bobby and Rufus.

Dean and Kat being surrounded by the ghostly victims

Most Surprising Moment

When Bobby and Dean see each other on the stairs in the Nest

Their faces expressed both surprise and a kind of sadness.  

Best Nostalgic Moments

The rock paper scissors

Using the EMF reader

and finding out the story behind Bobby’s scotch from Rufus that we saw in Time After Time.

Funniest Moment

Dean being frustrated over both graves already being salted and burned and stating there’s got to be easier ways to dig graves.

In the flashback we see that Bobby and Rufus had found an easier way. 

Rufus telling the nosey neighbor that ‘It’s officially none of your damn business Ma’am’

Bobby : Were you ever nice?

Rufus: 1985. Worst year of my life.

Best Alias

Sam and Dean using (Bill) Rizer and (Lance) Bean from the Contra video game 

and Bobby and Rufus using (Martin)Riggs and (Roger)Murtaugh from the Lethal Weapon movies .

There was a lot of great editing in this episode with switching from past to present.

 

Having Rufus and Bobby entering the house from the outside 

to Sam and Dean entering from the inside of the house 

The fight scenes going back and forth between Sam fighting a possessed Dean

 to Rufus fighting a possessed Bobby 

An overhead of Bobby and Rufus researching at the motel table

 and it switching over to…

to Sam and Dean researching at the same table 

Best Scenic Scene

The house and the moss covered trees, although it is a little on the creepy side too

Best Musical Cue

Willie Nelson’s Night Life playing while they show the research being done by the past(Bobby/Rufus)  and present (Sam/Dean) 

Also at the end of the episode having the The Allman Brothers Midnight Rider playing on the car radio when Bobby leaves in the past and…  

when Sam and Dean leave in the present.
