7. The New Mission Statement – “Out of the Darkness, Into the Fire”
Oops, Sam unleashed The Darkness on the world in order to remove the Mark of Cain from Dean. They learn the consequences pretty quick, people are dying from some horrible infection. Dean is focused on just saving the baby. Sam, like Dean is ready for action, but he has some new ground rules. They need to go back to saving people, all people. Hearing these words is very awesome considering that was the Winchester way in the first part of the series. Back to basics makes me very happy.
Sam: I get it. I do. We’re going to save that baby, okay, and we’re gonna find Cas and we’re gonna stop the Darkness.
Dean: What are we talking about?
Sam: The plan.
Dean: We have a plan. It’s the same plan is it’s always been. In order to get out we go through.
Sam: And? How has that been working for us?
Dean: We can’t save Cas, we’re stuck in a hospital. Just like I can’t strap on in a time machine, go back and tell Cain to shove that Mark up his ass or stop you from releasing the darkness. Now have we made mistakes? Yes, Hell yes. And we can analyze each and every one of them over a couple of frostys when we’re old and farting sawdust and OUT OF THIS ROOM! Right now all I can do is I can gear up, I can head out, I can save that freaking baby, which is exactly what I’m gonna do.
Sam: When did we forget how to do this?
Dean: What?
Sam: Dean, if we don’t change, right now, all our crap is just going to keep repeating itself.
Dean: I don’t even…what?
Sam: This…this kill first question later. What happened to us? Hunting things, we’re good at that, sure, we’re great at that, but it’s only half the bumper sticker man.
Dean: Sam, I am trying to save that baby.
Sam: And what about the others out there?
Dean: You mean the ones trying to kill us?
Sam: I mean the ones that are sick, the ones that are dying.
Dean: Yeah, who won’t rest until they’ve infected us all.
San: So we just forget about a cure?
Dean: What cure? Jenna’s cure? (holds up the shotgun)
Sam: There is always a cure. You just have to want to find it.
Dean: Yeah, how are you gonna find it if you’re dead? And around and around we go.
Sam: Saving people means all of the people, Dean. Not just that baby. Not just each other. I unleashed a force on this world that could destroy it . . . to save you.
Dean: And I told you not to.
Sam: And I’d do it again. In a second, I would do it again. And that is what I’m talking about. This isn’t on you. It is on us. We have to change.

Happy New Year for all! Half an hour left for me still but I needed to toss that here. Nice list Alice. Loved the number one. Baby is perfect!

Good choice on that number 1! 😀 I’m afraid most of my highlights would be Sam based :p
I think all of my top ten moments would be from Baby. But I did love all your choices. They were great moments from S10 and 11.
http://www.supernaturalwiki.com/images/thumb/7/76/DeanAuto.png/450px-DeanAuto.png this was a highlight for me too!
Alice, I agree with ever one of your choices. All these scenes were all defining Winchester, SPN why I watch moments. I wish the showdown between Dean and Cain had carried over with some ramifications but it seemed to be a one episode breath taking event (no consistency with MOC Dean). I totally agree with your assessment that the biggest mistake was killing Bobby. Every time I watch an ep prior to his death, I think the same thing. He could have continued to enhance the story and I loved the possible romance with Jodi. My only change is I would have switched 1 and 2 but again those moments in Baby were happy and priceless and who wouldn’t rather see our boys enjoy a carefree moment. Thanks for the New Year recap!
Nothing to see here folks.

Test: test comment, delete me.
And, today, in comments that don’t look suspicious at all…
😀
Don’t worry about that eilf. That test comment came from my husband, aka the WFB network administrator. We’ve been having email notification problems for about a month now and he’s been trying to fix it. It’s funny, because I told him to pick my article for the test and I even told him (actual quote), “Don’t worry, no one will notice.” Of course I thought I would get around to removing the comment much sooner than I did. 🙂
The hubby and I have been doing a crap load of maintenance on the site the last few days (trying to clean up stuff for an upcoming February server move), so you might notice a some more strange things in the weeks to come. Thanks for noticing though!
Hi Alice, heh, I just thought it was funny was all, like someone was trying their new account – but they were going to end up being called ‘test’ . Never occurred to me it was an admin thing. Sorry 😀
