Alice’s Review: Supernatural 10.12, “About A Boy” aka The Revenge of Taylor Swift
I’m one of those people that absolutely loathed season nine’s “Bad Boys.” I thought it was contrived, manipulative, and a totally unnecessary piece of trash. When I found out that there would be another story involving the same teenage Dean, written by the same writer Adam Glass, my expectations fell right into the gutter. Turns…
Thoughts on Supernatural 10.06: “Ask Jeeves”
On the heels of the 200th episodes, a touching, endearing tribute to this amazing series; I truly had no idea what to expect of this 10×06. Having now watched Ask Jeeves the only word that comes to mind is: awesome. It was funny, teasingly dramatic, classic and even managed to pull back around…
I giggle snorted through the whole list. Can’t wait for the second part and
Book of the Damned
Dean: We’re due for a win, okay? Overdue. I’ll tell you another thing, if this actually does work, we’re gonna take some time off.
Sam: What, like a vacation?
Dean: Mm-hmm. And I’m not talking just like a weekend in Vegas or sitting in some crap motel watching pay-per-porn. No, I’m talking about a beach. Drinking cervezas, go for a swim, mingle with the local wildlife. When was the last time either one of us was on a beach?
Sam: Never.
Dean: Sand between our toes, Sammy. Sand between our toes.
PLEASE MR. CARVER, PLEEEEEEAAAAAASE!!!!
Seconded!
This dialogue certainly triggered fan fantasy but to me it was so bittersweet. Dean was oh so hopeful and he usually does not let himself go there because….. the fall is and was that much harder. It was also so sad that these guys in their 30s never went to the beach and they probably wont unless in season 11 they just say …. f it and let the darkness wait for a week.
First it’s sand between our toes, Sammy, sand between our toes and then it’s on your legs, on your body, its sticking to your shorts, you try and rinse it off, it’s in your hair, the wind blows it into your eyes, that sandwich you try to eat, on your carseat, on the car mat, in Baby’s trunk, you drag it home with you… it’s insidious Dean. You think The!Darkness is bad, wait until you come up against The!Sand. Stay away Dean, stay away from the beach if you know what’s good for you!
Seriously? The boys on the beach swim trunks, no shirts, “frolicking” in the ocean? The!Sand won’t stand a chance.
Hmmm….that didn’t really come out the way it sounded in my head.
Insert above picture of Dean in dream Purgatory, head in hands.
Caption: Dean: This is not the beach!
I also enjoyed the list Alice. My only complaint is that I will now probably never eat cornflakes again!:D
Ha!!
On a side note, in one of my last interviews with Ben Edlund, he did confess he was still trying to figure out how to get Sam and Dean on a spaceship.
TALK TO ME! TALK TO ME PLEEEEEEEEASE! I’ve got it all worked out, you can hire me, I CAN MAKE IT WORK!
Well Death did try to send Dean into outer space. Sam wouldn’t have it. Now that would have been a cliffhanger. How does Sam get Dean back from Pluto?
After Dean has explained Death’s plan to Sam in BK, I loved how Sam said, “so what- he’s gonna send you into outer space?!” He sounded so incredulous that it was the one time during that heart-wrenching scene that I actually laughed.
Sam: I tried. I did, I tried. But I couldn’t save this one.
Dean: You know you can do everything right, and even still sometimes, the guy still dies.
This line was needed someplace: It reflected Sam’s anguish of trying and trying to save MOC Dean and Dean’s thoughts that he knew he was going down.
Agreed. Torture porn scene was too much for me. And for me Church bells, fireworks, and hallelujah, the MOC is gone, Dean is back! I did not care what the hell they (writers) did with it as long as it was off Dean’s arm and Sam’s to do list.
Great list, Alice. Especially agree with the torture porn teaser. I was grossed out and appalled. Also Crowley’s reference to Sam hitting another dog. I’m heartily sick of them bringing that up. I look forward to the rest.
This is a good part so far. There are some episodes I would rather forget and you pointed them out. Though I am a Crowley fan so anything he says kind of has favor with me. Look forward to more.
