The CW has posted an extended promo for the next episode…

Now with more Cain, more Cas, more Crowley and more Dean! Dean gets the blade from Crowley and we have the big throwdown. It looks exciting. What do you think? Does this promo get you more excited for the episode? Let us know.
My guess. Sam is locked in the dungeon to die a slow death while Dean takes on Cain by himself. If Dean couldn’t beat Metatron while a demon why should he be able to beat Cain as a regular human being? This makes no sense to me at all. I dearly hope that there is some kind of logic here. It’s Robert Berens, pretty much the only writer left with a modicum of creativity, so I am holding out a shred of hope for some sense to be made of this. Not holding out much hope for Sam to be doing anything much other than withering away in the bunker or lying unconsious somewhere.
I looks like Sam doesnt go with at all and I believe Jared only filmed 1 day so my guess is he is just in the first few minutes of the episode then Dean goes off to get the blade and then to confront Cain by himself. I dont think Jared was filming on any of the days Crowley or Cain had scenes and storyline wise it makes no sense for Sam to be involved in any of it other than maybe to relay the message of Cas finding Cain to Dean/maybe trying to stop Dean from going alone/showing concerned faces towards Dean. But yeah I cant see why Sam would need to be involved beyond that, he certainly doesnt need to meet Cain.
I wonder why the writers have decided that Sam is a nonentity. When Sam was going through mytharc stuff, Dean was always involved or at least on screen with dialog. Now, Sam might as well not be a character. It’s really bothering me.
I don’t want Sam to meet Cain. That scares me. But I would like him to be busy doing something while Cas & Dean deal with Cain. I hope he isn’t knocked out or “sent” on an errand or something equally as silly.
I would like Sam to meet Cain. Everyone was pretty quick to accept Cain’s story that Abel was being lured by Lucifer and I think Sam (if the writer du jour remembers that he’s bright and inquisitive) would probably really question Cain’s account. It doesn’t matter if the story is essentially about Dean, there is NO REASON for Sam to not be involved. Carver was around in season 3 when Dean was facing hell; Sam was an active part of that story which was pretty much all about Dean, so I can’t understand why no one seems to be able to writer for Sam now, showing Dean’s predicament through Sam’s eyes the way they did in season 3. It’s bizarre and frustrating. Sam/Jared has been rendered obsolete on his own show.
I think Kripke influenced everything Carver did. I no longer attribute those wonderful past Carver episodes to Carver; I attribute them to Kripke who was clearly the vision behind the show and the characters. I think Kripke thought of the ideas and Carver just put Kripke’s ideas to paper. Carver never shared Kripke’s vision of the show.
Kripke did a great job creating the series and I agree it was better under his reign. I also know that Kripke started the trend of diminishing Sam’s emotions. He admitted that he flat out forgot that Sam was John’s son and would be mourning John in season two and that he only wrote Dean’s grief. He focused the first half of season three on Dean’s emotions and when the writer’s strike happened Sam’s POV really didn’t get touched on. He made the decision to tell Sam’s story “in the background” in season four so that we would be shocked by his demon blood drinking and never took the time to show the people Sam saved with his powers. The sole focus was on Dean’s disapproval and feelings of betrayal. Kripke WROTE the scene where Sam killed the nurse. In season five Kripke again did not explore Sam’s mindset. He explored Dean’s resistance to saying yes to Michael. He explored Cas’s emotional journey. Sam got diddly squat. Even when Sam was about to jump into the pit we were never allowed to see the cost to SAM. We didn’t see him afraid of the Cage, or hurt by the way Dean treated him. We never got the human side of Sam in season five the way we saw Dean’s emotional journey toward Hell in season three. Sera Gamble tried to bring an emotion focus on Sam, using Soulless!Sam as a look into how Sam was without his conscience. That all fell by the wayside in season seven when she didn’t have as much control over the show as she did in season six.
I’m not saying that Carver’s time at Supernatural hasn’t been a disaster for Sam as a character. It has. But it didn’t start with Carver. Kripke lost interest in Sam as a character and with the exception of SG, no writer has ever been interested in Sam again.
New information to me. Everything makes so much more
sense now. That’s EKs vision.
You’ve articulated everything that I’ve been thinking all of these years. Imagine how incredibly boring Sam would have been without Jared’s charisma? The only reason this show has been on this many years is because of both of them, but without Jared doing what he does to bring Sam’s limited story to life, it would have died a few years ago. Whenever they actually give him a chance to have his moment, he knocks it out of the park, but it has dwindled into almost nothing these last couple of seasons. It’s incredibly discouraging.
I always felt the same. Never wrote about it.
The ‘brotherhood’ is well and truly dead. Dean of course has a whole legion of brothers to choose from. I geuss this week Castiel is Deans brother of choice.
I believe Jared only filmed 1 day
How do you people know these things? So it looks like this might be the fourth episode i will not be watching in a row.
If Sam had not been wearing that shirt I would not of known he was there .
This looks GREAT !!
One more and yet another break.
woohoo:(:(:(
It’s true Dean couldn’t beat Metatron with the blade and the MOC, but he wasn’t a demon then either. I’m assuming Dean isn’t a demon now and can’t beat Cain and knows that. So it is just possible that there is more to this then the spoilers are showing. Maybe they have something that will contain Cain and Sam’s part comes in there. While Cain is going after Dean, Sam will spring the trap. Cain would not be expecting Sam to be involved. Maybe Rowena gives them a spell.
I don’t think Dean is 100% human at this point either. Maybe a demon/human hybrid? He definitely has some powers from the MOC – have we really seen the full extent of them? Add the First Blade and? Who knows if he was completely cured by Sam? If Cain is off his meds Dean with the FB would be their only option but even Dean would have to seriously question his odds of success, unless one, he doesn’t care and two, they were trying to set it up for Cas to take a shot? But then Cas is running short on his juice too… This will be interesting…I read somewhere the meeting with Cain will be emotional for Dean. I hope Cain spills the instruction manual before Dean offs him…(as per Cains initial request). Doesn’t Timothy O. look deliciously BADASS??? No Lassiter there! Who do you think these people are Cain is killing? I thought he was wiping out the desendents of everyone who supported Abaddon when she took over Colette but that doesn’t make sense cause they were humans possessed by demons. Maybe he’s only killing bad guys? Maybe he’s drawing out Dean? Maybe – nah, I got nothin’…is it Tuesday yet? Is that it for the promos or do we get one more?

MoC Dean is little different than S1/2/3 Sam and DB drinking Sam – both have/had powers. Sam’s powers were never recognized by Show as good at all even when saving victims of possession
I think we’ve yet to see what powers he does possess. Maybe like Sam and the Psy Kids he has to let himself give into it? Also if the MOC will be permanent… and I want them to address the immortality issue!!! Big fat elephant in the room that we are to believe Sam and Dean haven’t talked about? Or is that something Dean just hasn’t educated his brother about? Not sure why you brought up your point about Sam and Show not recognizing his powers were good… not really interested in turning this into a Sam vs Dean thing, Thinking about it, I do believe that there’s a very good chance Dean wasn’t cured 100% by Sam and that DemonDean is still in there. I think Deans DarkCharlie is DemonDean not just his dark side but he just hasn’t realized it yet. I’m curious to see what we find out thru Cain but regardless I’m sure it won’t be everything. Show sold this as Year of the Deanmon only to wrap it up in 3 eps? I think we may find out DemonDean has been present all this time. THAT would make Shows promise make more sense instead of the stupid bait and switch that angered fans. I don’t think Dean is aware or conciously pulling the wool over everyones eyes. I just think there have been too many subtle hints thru Jensens acting for this not to be true. Normally I have a pretty good fix on where the Show is going but this time? Not so much. So many different ways they can take it but I want to see Dean go off the rails once he thinks he’s got everything relatively under control and to see what Sam does to get him back. I’m loving this role reversal this year!
It is not particularly a role reversal outside of a bad blood save that anybody could of done and Sam spouting platitudes , his role has not really changed nor the inept writing for him. As for the rest I dont doubt that Dean will be all things to all people where the mark and powers are concerned I just hope that by the time the show ends that some things have stayed unique to Sam outside of the selfish moniker he has been landed with.
I hear you but this is where we will just have to agree to disagee.
That is fine I disagree with the whole show. Different sides of the fence what I want for Sam is worlds away from what Jeremy and the writers want .
Maybe Dean will distract Cain with his disgusting eating habits from last week and then go in for the kill!!! Ha!
:D:D So the power of Dean at a pie eating contest is greater than Cain and the First Blade :D:D
Ahhhhh!!!!!! It’s the power of the noodles! Cain doesn’t stand a chance.
Well, that was interesting.
Alright… Now I am worried about Cas.
I don’t want Cain killed. He is one of those characters that are really good just from being in one episode. Even though the promos and clip was spoilerish I think we were left out some important information that we should know. Dean using the blade is not good. All of them seem desperate so if we see it that way Cain being on a killing rampage can’t be a good thing. Cas is no match against Cain and I see Cain stronger than an angel. I mean he killed all his knight’s of hell.
Anyway, the guys are in trouble for sure.

Cain stronger than Angels, hum, very very interesting.
And stronger then the king of hell even without the first blade.
Crowley was punking Dean acting so very afraid of Cain. yes ?
Well, when Dean was a demon with the MOC he was able to throw Crowley down and intimidate him and we know Cain as a demon with the MOC is at least as strong, if not stronger, then Dean. Was Crowley originally leading Dean into getting the mark? Probably, but I think he thought he could control Dean and use Dean’s power.
While Crowley was setting up Dean to take on the MoC, I think he was genuinely afraid of Cain. And Crowley wanted Dean to be his BFF and to use him as a weapon against his enemies. It’s not that outlandish that Cain, a knight of hell, would be more powerful, or at least immune to, a regular angel like Castiel. In S4, Castiel was no match for Alistair, and Lilith only high-tailed it out of her first encounter with Sam when an archangel was about to show up to protect Chuck.
We are definitely on the same page here njspnfan. It is very possible that Dean would have to be a full on demon, knight of hell to even have a chance against Cain. Dean wasn’t stronger then Metatron with just the mark and the first blade so I don’t think he can do better against Cain. Can Metatron beat Cain? Would Cas and Sam make a deal to release Metatron for his help in getting rid of Cain? Lots of possibilities!
But Prix wasn’t Metatron as powerful as he was because he was accessing the Angel Tablet? Now he just a regular angel? I don’t think he’s even an Archangel tho I could be wrong.
Oh! That’s right! Forgot about that!
It was poor Kevin Trans luck that Heaven was all out of Archangels when he became a prophet! Aw Kevin. 🙁
Seems so Nola. From that clip I was just, “Oh noooo, that doesn’t look good.” 😀
There is a lot of questions and can’t wait to see this episode. I need to try not to watch spoilers because everything they have shown now are huge spoilers.
What I take it that Cain is the strongest being known to man if you don’t count Lucifer.

Lilah, it seems that the promo’s are always better than
the episodes and have misleading scenes that never
make the show. I now am just hanging on til the END.
BET 😀 or True Dat 😉
Stronger than Cas? If the promo is truthful – but Cas’ mojo isn’t operating at 100%. Stronger than an angel? That remains to be seen, but since demons as a rule fear angels then I doubt he is, even if he is “The Father of Murder”
’tis a conundrum
It will be a CON-undrum if it turns out DemonDean has been hiding in plain sight! 🙂
