Spoiler Roundup – August 1st
With Supernatural having a small presence at the TCA's this week, a number of conversations with Jeremy Carver and Misha Collins have been coming up. I've posted a few of those interviews here, but how about a Jeremy Carver soundbite to go with it!
This is from the latest "Ask Ausiello" at TVLine. It's a Destiel question.

Question: Any Supernatural scoop about the Dean-Castiel dynamic? —Joyce
Ausiello: “That is something that we explore heavily throughout the season through some pretty extensive flashbacks into purgatory,” reveals new showrunner Jeremy Carver. “People are always referring to purgatory as hell, and purgatory is not hell. Purgatory is a really brutal, free-wheeling place, but it has different effects on different people. It will have a different effect on Cas and Dean as you already started to see [in the Season 7 finale]. But I will say what you think you saw might not be exactly what you saw.”
Also, here's a nugget from Spoiler TV about upcoming episode 8.04. It sounds like a vampire episode. I know Ben Edlund wrote one, but I thought it was episode 8.05. Maybe they changed it. Anyway, this sounds like they got their info from a casting call.
The working title of 8.04 "Bitten."
It will feature, Kate, a possible recurring guest who is described as a pretty coed. Also a character called Michael who falls in love with Kate but their relationship is hindered by a supernatural force. And finally Brian, Michaels best friend who hates Michaels relationship with Kate
A college professor named Ludensky, who has a secret past, is also being cast.

Is it just me, or does anybody else think Ep. 8.04 (or 8.05, whichever one it ends up being) sound like a love triangle from TVD?
In fact, all of these spoilers coming out since Comic Con sounds like S8 is all about ‘relationships’, with some blood and gore thrown in as a backdrop while they tell the ups and downs of ‘feelings’ between Sam and Amelia and Dean and his male buddies, Cas and Benny.
I hope it all turns out better than it is sounding.
this latest spoiler love “triangle” sounds soap opera to me. my poor show has turned into a soap opera. its a shame. i watch for j2-with jensen being my favorite. but it seems like i am getting relationships instead of the hunting, fighting brothers. and don’t get me started with the useless character of cas -which to me hasn’t been needed since s5-he totally ruins supernatural.
*sigh*
Again, no love for Dean and Sam as brothers.
Great.
I’m going to bake cookies or something.
Certainly the spoilers that are coming out are rather unsettling. and are introducing a great number of recurring characters; Amelia, Benny, Lauren Tom’s character and now Kate the pretty co-ed, and it’s been said that Garth will be returning too and of course Castiel, and probably more characters will be introduced as the season proceeds.
I’m beginning to wonder if there will be any screen-time left to develop the story of my favourite brothers!
I’m a simple girl; all I want are my loving, caring Winchester brothers, on good terms with one another, fighting evil side by side, accompanied by the faithfull Impala with rock songs blaring out of the old tape player.

Me, too. I thought the J2s had minimal screen-time last season. I know at one time, I considered timing their scenes to see just see on average how much time they were getting in front of the camera. (Of course, realizing there would be no return for my effort, I gave up that idea!)
All I can say is, surely they can’t get any less screen-time than last season and still be credited as leads in the show.
Replying to Ginger.
In my view it will probably be the same as last season. I doubt we will see more of them as some of the spoilers even hinted that the boys would be less present, but then again perhaps the actors themselves wanted a little more time off, who knows.
However I watch to see the brothers and while I’m okay with having other characters around, I want the brothers at the centre of each episode, being their old intelligent and capable selves as they were in earlier seasons, where they managed to hunt monsters without needing the help of anyone; something which did not happen in season seven where they seemed unable to do anything without the help of others.
