Robin’s Rambles: Supernatural 10.02 “Reichenbach”
Jensen was scaring the crap out of me, not just by what he said, but by the expression of hatred in his eyes.
That smirk, combined with those eyes filled with complete indifference and utter contempt, like the humans he was beating up were no more than insects he was torturing and murdering. . .well, it just chilled me through.
Kudos to Ackles, he was amazing.
Not far behind him, performance-wise, was Jared, beaten, hurting, but determined to bring Dean home and fix him, no matter what.
Watching Cole in his relentless torture of Sam and pursuit of Dean, I was reminded of the Winchesters and their campaign against Azazel. Cole knew only of human monsters, but was blind to real ones, ironically.
Dean was the only monster he really needed to bring down, but he killed many men while in the service, honing his skills much the way the Winchester brothers did under John’s tutelage. I know it doesn’t matter, but I wonder why Dean killed Cole’s father?
Poor Crowley. He really loves Dean and wanted his “BFF” by his side in Hell. He was so sad when he looked at a photo of him and Dean in his phone. But Dean was having none of that; he deliberately screwed up his assignment once he learned the husband was as unfaithful as the wife–and killed the client! Dean is a demon with principles, and that isn’t going to work for Crowley.
The episode was very violent, with Cole beating Sam, Dean beating Cole and killing the cheating husband! Is Dean going to regret letting Cole live, especially now that he’s researching demons?
What will become of poor Cas, who seems to get weaker with every episode? Hannah has a big crush on him, but he’s very proud and won’t let her get help for him from Metatron or anywhere else.
I shivered when Dean threatened Sam at the very end of the episode. The thought of Dean tearing out his brother’s throat with his teeth. . .well, I can’t even imagine it. The very worst thing, even to Sam, was Dean’s indifference to the Impala. You don’t trash Baby!
I’ve scattered my questions throughout, so please answer them as you see fit. Here’s one more: given Crowley’s choice, will Dean choose demon or human?
Jensen is skin crawling creepy isn’t he. He is scaring the crap out of Sam too.:(
Thanks Robin. Yes Dean was chilling and Sam is hurting, drained and yet determined! Crowley was, well, Crowley at his best. Cas was barely able to function and still answered the call. I like he and Hannah’s emerging friendship. Man I love those actors! They continue to amaze and delight me me. All of them.
Dean, as he stands as partial demon (??) will chose demon no doubt. Excited for the next episode. I wish DD was going to be around for awhile, he is not boring, but I do miss Dean.:)
AZAZEL did the same to DEAN, but I think he let him go, the Gravy was Cole being tortured. He does not even remember him.
Jensen could be DARKER. don’t kill the messenger but he asked WHO WINGED YA, and he did not have to do that. He seems really laid back and just a sociopath NOT EVIL EVIL yet. [yes like SOUL LESS SAM]
Jensen does no wrong in my ACTING WORLD, but maybe if his NORMAL eyes were a little tinged with black like SAMs was when he drank a lot of demon blood and was driving but his eyes were not all the way black. JMO
My thinking was DEAN killed a demon in the other room, then walked back to the room with COLEs dad.
Pretty sure the little girl was not in the house but at a sleep over and then was there with her mother when CAS woke up.
I must say DEANMON sees to really go dark when he tries to Chop off Sam’s head in next episode.
p.s. a 39 year old playing 24 is crazy. CASTING MESSED UP or the SCRIPT CHANGED.
Did Dean growl when Sam put the handcuffs on? I’m loving that Hannah has a crush for Cass and wonder if we will see some shipping. Does anyone else feel a little sorry for Crowley because he lost his BFF? I know I shouldn’t but I do. I guess it’s Mark’s acting making me care about a demon.
If I may be shallow for a moment DD is wearing a lot less layers this season so I am enjoying the hell out of that.:)
Another episode where we see how underused Jensen’s acting talents are (the curse of being too good-looking?) Sick thrills when he killed the sexist douchebag in the car…and the genuine skin-crawling moment when he refers to the Impala as “just a car”. If TPTB can keep up this emotional tension, this could be a series saving season.
