Look At This!!! People’s Choice Award Congratulations From The CW
In going through my News Feeds for the evening look what just came up! An actual promo from The CW congratulating their “award winning” Thursday night lineup. I still can’t pick my jaw up from the floor.
Congratulations to both Supernatural and The Vampire Diaries! Both shows are really deserving.
Always good to see our boys getting some love! Glad for the show of support from the network. Thanks for posting the video Alice – I never would have seen that promo commercial otherwise.
Hey, this is due. I’m glad that the network decided to acknowledge the show in this way. Hope this will help them get a better budget, or more ideas greenlighted….
The Vampire Diaries will start airing over here, soon. I need to make time for that, as I’m curious about it. Good Vampire stuff, also a rarity. Well, we’ll see. Seems to be about two brothers, as well…
Gosh, I’m so proud of Supernatural! Well done, everyone!
:-), Jas
wow the CW actually recognises that Supernatural exists – who knew????
but congratulations again to kripke and co, well deserved award and recognition, all those who work on spn should be proud!
Whoa… is that promotion for Supernatural? I’m getting a little lightheaded … *thud*
Seriously, though, that’s wonderful–thanks for posting this. Where did the green screenshot come from? Checked out the CW website but didn’t see it there.
WOW!!!! This is WONDERFUL……Hope this means more PR and a bigger budget for s6! 😛 😛 😛
Yea! This is great news.
Hopefully this could lead to more budget and then…..dare I say it….more music??
Now, as pleased as I am with the love from the network, an increased budget will never happen, not unless The CW passes NBC as the number four network. For one, advertising dollars these days are way down, like 15% from last year. Granted if the scatter market picks up, the positive buzz from the Thursday night lineup might help offset some of those losses, but they’re still deep.
Not to self promote, but I highly suggest reading again “Reality Check, Why Fan Efforts Won’t Help Supernatural’s Budget” again. Sadly, all that still applies. Also, The CW is still bleeding cash and Supernatural gets more expensive every year. The longer they are on the air, the more that’s paid out to Jensen, Jared, Misha, and all the producers, not to mention union increases for the crew.
Now renewal, this looks very good for that.
Thanks for bringing this to mind, Alice, I sometimes get enthusiastic and forget the laws of the trade (shame on me, I should know).
I’m hoping it does indeed look good for renewal… I had somehow attuned myself to five seasons and the good-bye Winchesters, but I’ll be very happy if a sixth season got greenlighted (and I hope that the actors will have chances to do other stuff as well. imdb mentions rumours that Jared might star in a sequel to Friday 13th. Not confirmed so far. But that would be just great.)
take care, Jas
Jas, think positive…in today’s economy, J&J need a stable paycheck. Yes, I hope they can do other things as well, but more I hope they keep working, and SPN will give them that, at least for 1 more year. If fan support continues like it is now, or increases, maybe a season 7 ???
Jasminka – no not a friday the 13th sequal, i know he’d be raising his profile and all that jazz because the film made a tonne of money but seriously that film was terrible.
But yes unfortunatly the award is good for renewal chances but does nothing to effect the budget 🙁 the question is though do we start the “season 7?” debate because I believe that Jensen and Jared are only signed on for 6 – will kripke stay for season 6? will season 6 be the final season? will they want to do more than six seasons? and don;t we have this debate every year around this time?
Hi, Sablegreen and Bethany,
of course I am aware that the guys need their paycheck. Actually, every actor I know (who are not so-called A-listers) say they want a tv-show, as the paycheck comes in regularly. With movies it’s more of a touch-and-go, depending how much your agent or manager can get for you.
Unfortunately, and Alice is absolutely right here, it’s all about how a network (or a studio) does. It all boils down to money. Well, all economy strives to make good money, but with show business the goods are human… This is something I’ve always disliked about this biz. It’s not enough to wear a well-cut suit jacket, no, it needs to have skulls on its back to show that it was expensive. You find many people of integrity there, but the business itself holds very little dignity.
To my mind, it’s already very clear that Jensen and Jared are not in this business to become famous. Else, they would need to be on all the parties and premieres going on (to get noticed and mentioned), and they attend only a few, as far as I have seen, and we rarely find them in gossip magazines and they are known for what they do as opposed to what they wear (or for misbehaving in a drunken state etc).
I think it’s safe to assume they just want to act and tell stories of intriguing characters. But, to be able to do that, they need to raise their profiles once in a while, sometimes make movies that might not turn out to be award worthy but will have agents/casting directors/studios become aware of them, which is the case if you do a movie Michael Bay produces.
You see, Bethany, Kevin Bacon starred in Friday13th (the original, I believe, but I’m not familiar with that franchise, not exactly a splatter fan here) and still became a very respected actor. Jared could well make that movie (again for the record: it’s only a rumour so far, we might well be talking about thin air here) and his career as an actor would still be without blemish.
He did well in that movie, and apparently had fun shooting it. And if it helps to get his name a tiny bit more well-known, why not (by the way: he is in the German Cosmopolitan’s Men’s Calendar which astonished me. Hardly anyone over here probably knows who he is (except Supernatural fans, of course).
I hope you don’t get me wrong. I would love to watch Supernatural indefinitely (!), and I will be a loyal fan for as long as it will be on air.
I just don’t want people to tire of it. And I hope that a long run will not affect the high quality of this fantastic show.
Schumacher will come back to Formula One again, after having retired as the world’s best and most respected driver. Hardly anyone believes he can achieve the same high standards… What I’m trying to say with so many words is basically: it’s probably best to leave at the peak instead of going on for whatever reasons and watch your achievements diminish with time.
Still, I’m praying for more seasons of our favourite show. Which would also mean, Alice, that you would be required to provide us with this site for as long as it takes. You couldn’t seriously expect us to put up with other sites… No pressure,
😉 Jas
