Inspired by Supernatural: Drawings by The Friendly Pigeon
We have so much talent in the Supernatural fandom! Fans draw, edit photos and videos, write fan fics, create costumes or props, make jewelry and much more. It’s time to showcase the #SPNFamily’s talent and ask the people behind the creations some questions!
Today I want to introduce The Friendly Pigeon to you. I met her last year at Purgatory Convention in Germany. She had a vendor table there,
and yes, I bought art from her. I´m happy that I now can share her art with all of you.
Let´s start with the interview!
Enjoy reading!
How and when did you got trapped in the Supernatural Fandom?
My best friend wanted me to draw Destiel suggestive pictures. I posted it on Tumblr (back in 2016 I think) and I got some nice feedback, so I continued making fanart.
What does the Supernatural Fandom mean to you?
Entertainment mostly. Be it for very in-depth discussion about episodes or crazy fans hating on each other over mundane things.
Also, it’s nice seeing awesome fanart by other artists!
How and when did you started with drawing?
I can’t say for sure. It’s not like one day, when you’re 3 or whatever, you decide to pick up a pen with the intention to be a digital artist. It just happens gradually.
I think you are drawing digitally. Can you recommend a program/tablet?
I have used the same Wacom tablet for 10 years now (Wacom Intuos 3) so I suppose that speaks for durability.
I use Photoshop CC and Paint Tool Sai (it has some nice smooth brushes that mix colours, something that Photoshop lacks)
Do you also draw using traditional media?
No.
What was the first picture you drew and the first Supernatural related one?
That Destiel one I mentioned above.
I always love to see the progress of artworks. Would you like to share some pictures with us?
Here is the progress of a drawing of Dean
There are also some work-in-progress videos/animations on my Tumblr and Instagram.

Can you explain how/why you choose the pics you draw. What inspires you?
I have a very big art/mood folder and tons of music that inspire me.
I always have different images in my head all the time.
I met you at PurCon5 in 2019. That´s why I know you have different drawing styles. The stickers are different than the drawings. (Oh, yes I own some. Haha, not sure if you remember the story that my mom accidentally used my sticker for her phone case because she loved it. She does not know Supernatural. ) Can you share a pic for each style and tell us why you chose it?
I have most of my styles listed here (except the stickers)
I choose different styles for different moods I want to deliver.
Usually I go for semi realistic because I love colorful artworks with little to no line art.
But sometimes I’m lazy and only use cell shading.
Also, it depends on the time I have and what my goal is.
For stickers, I use a very clean drawing style so that you can see the artwork from far away, too.
How long does it take you to finish a portrait/drawing?
2-5 hours.
Not sure if you can decide, but what is your favorite picture, and of course, why?
I’m one of those people who hates everything they draw.
The artwork I hate the least is probably this one, because I can’t spot any major mistakes on it on the first glance.
The longer I look at my stuff, the more it upsets me, though.
Have any of the stars seen your drawings? If yes, what was their reaction?
Rob Benedict and Ty Olsson really liked the portraits I drew of them. They wanted copies of the prints (which luckily, I brought with me).
Are you creating other art besides your drawings and stickers?
I do fanart, original art, comics, commercial work and commissions. I basically draw anything as long as I get paid.
Some Artists are open for commissions, what about you?
#StarvingArtist so yeah, always open. My prices range from 20 Euro for line art to 120 Euros for a detailed picture with background. Fans should contact me at the information given below (social media or email) to discuss their ideas and pricing.
What are your next projects?
– Calendar
– Artbook (if in find the time)
– tabletop game
How did you come up with the your name The Friendly Pigeon?
I really like pigeons.
Is there anything else you would like to share with the fans? What more would you like to tell us about your art or yourself?
I’m the most boring, unenergetic and lackluster person in real life. I basically sit in front of a PC for 12 hours, do art or watch videos.
If anything spectacular happens, I make a comic out of it and post it on my social media accounts.
There’s nothing else to know about me.
Now it’s time for the question I ask everyone. If you could change only one thing in the world right now, what would it be?
Anatomically change women to have the same strength as men.
Thanks for taking the time to do this interview with me!
