Fan Video of the Week: Supernatural Reflections 13.10 “Wayward Sisters”
“I was a wayward child, very passionate and very determined. If I made up my mind to do something, there was no stopping me.” ― Kate Winslet
This was it. The last push to get the spinoff to go forward as a picked up show. There have been pretty passionate fans promoting WS and although I have not been in that bigger group, I supported their efforts to get this show going. It means a lot to people because of their representation and topics that are on everyone’s lips at the moment. It is easy to support people that hold on to their values. For the Supernatural franchise, I kept my fingers crossed that the show would be picked up. Having a spin-off from the show would be an award and amazing continuity that all that have worked so hard on SPN deserve.
There were, though, a few things I wished could be better on the spin-off. These are my personal thoughts and opinions so I hope you don’t mind. I mean, my top characters on the show would have definitely been Jody, Donna and Alex so my wish was that the focus would be on them. If you look at Wynonna Earp, it is still good to have male presence on the show as regular character. I mean Jody and Asa Fox was totally a thing and they could balance one another. The focus would not be on their relationship but just part of the story. Same with Donna and Doug except that he did not fit the life. I think the possibility should not be forbidden though as with Asa Fox. In those few minutes, the character already had the potential for greatness, so of course he died. (Boo!) This doesn’t mean that the spotlight would be off the main characters. Also, for the name I would have chosen to call it neutrally, “Wayward”.
So, let’s introduce our main players and I will write few words about them.
Sheriff Jody Mills
I love Jody as a character and I always have. She has come a long way and she can hold her own against the things that go bump in the night. What I have grown to love is also Jody’s and Donna’s friendship. I mean me and probably most people have a friendship that has started awkwardly at the start and then it bloomed. I like Jody’s relationship with the boys and also the girls. She and Donna should be the focus in my opinion.
Jody has appeared in: 5.15 Dead Men Don’t Wear Plaid, 6.04 Weekend at Bobby’s, 7.02 Hello, Cruel World, 7.06 Slash Fiction, 7.12 Time After Time, 8.23 Sacrifice, 9.08 Rock and a Hard Place, 9.19 Alex Annie Alexis Ann, 10.08 Hibbing 911 , 11.12 Don’t You Forget About Me, 12.06 Celebrating the Life of Asa Fox, 12.22 Who We Are, 13.03 Patience, 13.09 The Bad Place, 13.10 Wayward Sisters
Sheriff Donna Hanscum
Oh my, how Donna’s character has grown over the episodes. She is the sunlight that Jody desperately needs in her life. Jody’s life has seen too much dark side so they balance one another well. Also, Donna’s chemistry with the brothers is great. She also adapted the hunter’s life pretty easily. I mean look at that arsenal in her D-Train car.
Donna has appeared in: 9.13 The Purge, 10.08 Hibbing 911, 11.07 Plush, 13.10 Wayward Sisters, 13.11 Breakdown
Alex Jones
After A4 (9.19 Alex Annie Alexis Ann) I already liked her character. She is down to earth and tries to make a normal life even though it is hard. She also does know how to fight but she doesn’t run headstrong to find the monsters. And there is no mistake about it – she had pretty sh**ty life before Jody found her and I am glad she did.
Alex has appeared in: 9.19 Alex Annie Alexis Ann, 11.12 Don’t You Forget About Me, 12.22 Who We Are, 13.10 Wayward Sisters
Claire Novak
Alright, it is true that Claire has also had a tough life but I don’t see her as main character material. I just prefer the three mentioned earlier. I liked her when she was dramatically Castiel’s vessel a while and her character grew on me in 10.20 Angel Heart. I also liked the Grigori angel lore. She just should have had more character growth already to move on from the chaos that her past had been. I have not seen that. A revenge plot line is too 1980’s even to me and I like movies from that time.
Claire has appeared in: 4.20 The Rapture, 10.09 The Things We Left Behind, 10.10 The Hunter Games, 10.20 Angel Heart, 11.12 Don’t You Forget About Me, 12.16 Ladies Drink Free
Patience Turner
I don’t have much to say about her. I guess it is not really her fault that Missouri was killed but it does reflect on her character. It is just those writer’s “mistakes” that I really don’t like and will have me fuming for decades. Missouri deserved better – like a lot better. Also the actress played a doctor role in Wynonna Earp and she was a LGBT-character. Clark Backo was great as the doctor but her being a doctor makes her too old to play a student in high school so that took me out of her scenes a little bit.
Patience has appeared in: 13.03 Patience, 13.09 The Bad Place, 13.10 Wayward Sisters
Kaia Nieves
I think Kaia was my 4th strongest character in the WS and that small twist in the end made me even more curious about her. The introduction of Dreamwalkers that are pretty rare to the canon was good in my opinion. I do like the addition of native lore to Supernatural. She had a pretty tough role to go through and she had pretty good posture and rhythm in her fights. I really liked Dark Kaia’s outfit. It reminded me of Siths in Star Wars (Darth Maul more exactly).
Kaia has appeared in: 13.09 The Bad Place, 13.10 Wayward Sisters

I Am the Fire by Halestorm
Am I brave enough?
Am I strong enough?
To follow the desire
That burns from within
To push away my fear
To stand where I’m afraid
I am through with this
Cuz I am more than this
I promise to myself
Alone and no one else
My flame is rising higher
I am the fire
I am burning brighter
Roaring like a storm
And I am the one I’ve been waiting for
Screaming like a siren
Alive and burning brighter
I am the fire
I’ve been sacrificed
My Hearts been cauterized
Hanging on to hope
Shackled by the ghost
Of what I once believed
That I could never be
What’s right in front of me?
I am the fire
I am burning brighter
Roaring like a storm
And I am the one I’ve been waiting for
Screaming like a siren
Alive and burning brighter
I am the fire
I don’t believe I’ll fall from grace
Won’t let the past decide my fate
Leave forgiveness in my wake
Take the love that I’ve embraced
I promise to myself, me and no one else
I am more than this
I am the fire…
I am the fire
I am burning brighter
Roaring like a storm
And I am the one I’ve been waiting for
Screaming like a siren
Alive and burning brighter
I am the fire
I am the fire
I am the fire
I am the fire
I am the fire
I am the fire
I am the fire

Quotes
Kaia: Uh, I’m a dreamwalker. It means when I sleep, I see another world… this other dimension.
Patience: Seriously?
Kaia: The Bad Place. It’s where that came from. Your friends Sam and Dean, they wanted me to help them open a door to another world. And we did, but something went wrong.
Jody: Patience, Kaia, this is Sheriff Donna Hanscum. She’s, uh, she’s killed a lot of vampires.
Donna: Ah, ya know. I do what I do. Anyhoo, brought the basics.
Patience: Why do you have all this?
Donna: I’m from Minnesota.
Sam: Jody, that rift was open for a while. More of those things may have come through.
Dean: Now we’ve seen some freaks, but over there, it’s a whole new world of bad.
Jody: We will handle it. Come on. You guys take care of the world. We got Sioux Falls covered.
Dean: Damn right you do.
