Fan Video of the Week: Supernatural Reflections “The Chitters”
I am baaa-ack! Well, I did the finale video article after my small vacation but now we are well and truly on Hellatus. Sometimes it is pretty hard to find the ideas to use on the articles and, for a moment, “The Chitters” was one of those. I was thinking of using The Blair Witch Project first, in reference to the director of the episode, but that didn’t go further nor I didn’t find a fan video that could fit. So my thoughts returned to what the episode itself told me.
We had three “Brothers in Arms” in “The Chitters” – Jessie and his brother, Jessie and Cesar, and Sam and Dean. The bond that forms with your teammates when you are a soldier in a war is as strong as a blood bond, a family bond. Sometimes it is even stronger. The horrors and loss they go through influence the rest of their lives. Sometimes, you cling to that memory the most if only a few survive.
Hunters are soldiers but their battlefield is everyday life. Their war is behind the curtain but its influence on them is as strong and brutal as with wars against countries. Being a hunter means loss even if you succeed. It is not a happy life which Sam and Dean have felt first hand. If you think about it, they are the Unknown Soldiers that no-one knows.
“As he stands in uniform, a poppy on his chest, the soldier makes the salute to fallen friends. A wave of memories surges with the power of an ocean and he is engulfed in grief. Tears run down his face and he does not try to hide, he does not look away, he does not bury his face. He is proud to shed these tears for those who passed on in the war, those who did not make it home to parents, spouses and children. They departed the earth too soon and he would stand with fierce pride each November 11th to mark their lives as well as their untimely deaths. He would stand to say ‘You are remembered, my friends.” ― Ravinder
The definition for the word “Soldier”
In a war, soldiers are the people who do the fighting, on the ground, in planes, or from boats. Soldier is also a verb that means to serve in the military, or to continue on through difficult times.
What is an army without soldiers? It’s a bunch of guns on the ground. A soldier is the man or woman who fights for their government and carries the weapons, risking their life in the process. The word comes from the Latin solidus, which is the name of the gold coin used to pay soldiers who fought in the Roman army. To “soldier on” means to not give up even when life is tough, like soldiering on through difficult vocabulary.
Enjoy!

La da da da da da, la da da da da [x2]
Where did all the people go?
They got scared when the lights went low.
I’ll get you through it nice and slow,
When the world’s spinning out of control.
Afraid of what they might lose
Might get scraped or they might get bruised.
You could beg them, what’s the use?
That’s why it’s called a moment of truth
I’ll get it if you need it,
I’ll search if you don’t see it,
You’re thirsty, I’ll be rain,
You get hurt, I’ll take your pain.
I know you don’t believe it,
But I said it and I still mean it,
When you heard what I told you,
When you get worried I’ll be your soldier.
Funny when times get hard,
At the last moment when you’re supposed to charge,
Always on the longest yard,
Oh, they feel their feet getting cold.
Hiding here, hiding there,
Find them underneath the stairs,
People hiding everywhere,
Trying to be still like a stone.
I’ll get it if you need it,
I’ll search if you can’t see it,
You’re thirsty, I’ll be rain,
You get hurt, I’ll take your pain.
I know you don’t believe it,
But I said it and I still mean it,
When you heard what I told you,
When you get worried I’ll be your soldier.
My aim is so true,
I wanna show you,
I’ll try forever,
I’m never gonna say “surrender”.
I’ll get it if you need it,
I’ll search if you can’t see it,
You’re thirsty, I’ll be rain,
You get hurt, I’ll take your pain.
I know you don’t believe it,
But I said it and I still mean it,
When you heard what I told you,
When you get worried I’ll be your soldier.
I’ll be your soldier
Well I’ll be, oh I’ll be your soldier
I’ll be your soldier
I’ll be your soldier

Quotes:
Dean: Green eyes, buzzing. Weed alone doesn’t conjure up that kind of scenario. Isn’t that right, Sam?
Sam: Dude, I was 18.
Dean: Sinner.
Sam: It was college. It was probably oregano anyways.
Dean: Rebel.
Sam: You’re an idiot.
Dean: Ah, you guys fight just like brothers. Almost as bad as us.
Cesar: Well… it’s more like an old married couple.
Dean: That’s… Oh. So…
Cesar: Yeah.
Dean: Okay. That’s… What’s it like settling down with a hunter?
Cesar: Smelly, dirty. Twice the worrying about getting ganked.
Cesar: I never had a brother or a sister, but I’ve seen it over and over when someone loses someone when they’re young. It never heals over.
Dean: No, it doesn’t.
Cesar: And the insane thing is, how many hunters have you seen over the years get their revenge?
Dean: A few.
Cesar: Yeah. Me, too. And they are never fixed, are they?
Dean: No, I guess not. But you gotta help them get that revenge anyway.
