#4 – Victor Hendriksen
Even when heรขโฌโขs hunting down Winchesters, you could hardly call FBI Agent Victor Hendriksen a bad guy. He honestly believes heรขโฌโขs fighting on the side of justice, saving the world from two very bad men. After all, thatรขโฌโขs what heรขโฌโขs been trained to do.
Heรขโฌโขs a righteous son of a bitch, but thatรขโฌโขs part of his charm. His tactics and delivery are cool, cavalier, and we knew that it would only be a matter of time before he would become an ally. Sure he learns the hard way, being possessed as demons surround the same jailhouse he compares to รขโฌลMayberry PD,รขโฌย but luckily the same fugitives heรขโฌโขs hunted as wackos are crazy enough to use a toilet to get the damned thing out of him. Whatever works.
Unfortunately, we also knew given the history of this show it wouldnรขโฌโขt be long before he joined the dead pool too. He goes out swinging and knowing the truth though, which is the heroic way to go in this show. He even gets to come back as an angry spirit, so we truly havenรขโฌโขt seen the last of him. Death doesnรขโฌโขt seem to be an issue on this show.
Dean: Yeah, listen, I’m not really in the negotiating mood right now.
Hendricksen: Good. Me neither. It’s my job to bring you in; alive’s a bonus but not necessary.
Dean: Whoa. Kinda harsh for a Federal Agent, don’t you think?
Hendriksen: Well, you’re not the typical suspect, are you, Dean? I want you and Sam out here, unarmed. Or we come in. And yes, I know about Sam. Bonnie to your Clyde.
Dean: Yeah, well, that part’s true, but how’d you even know we were here?
Hendriksen: Go screw yourself, that’s how I knew. It’s become my job to know about you, Dean. I’ve been looking for you for weeks now. I know about the murder in St. Louis, I know about the Houdini act you pulled in Baltimore. I know about the desecrations and the thefts. I know about your dad.
Dean: Hey, you don’t know crap about my dad.
Hendriksen: Ex-marine, raised his kids on the road, cheap motels, backwoods cabins. Real paramilitary survivalist type. I just can’t get a handle on what type of whacko he was. White supremacist, Timmy McVeigh, to-may-to, to-mah-to. Dean: You got no right talking about my dad like that. He was a hero.
รขโฌลMy job is boring. It’s frustrating. You work three years for one break, and then maybe you can save a few people, maybe. That’s the payoff. I’ve been busting my ass for 15 years and nailed a handful of guys and all this while there’s been something off in the corner so big. So yeah, sign me up for that big frosty mug of waste of my damn life.”
thank you for all these wonderful articles it’s helped me get thru this silly season. still counting down.:
Good list ( What, no Ash? For shame… )
I wouldn’t have called the Splendidly Heroic Fixer Genius that is Bobby exactly unsung though … The one thing the endlessly squabbling hoards of nit-picking malcontents that make up the SPN fandom do actually manage to agree on is that Mr. Singer is a bloody good egg! ( Next poster will no doubt point out a shedload of sites dedicated to slagging him off … ๐ )
Hiya, nice top5. I agree, these guys are quite the heroes ๐ I was kinda wondering if you were gonna but the Impala in here… but I still like your choices.
Thanks for this, it was a great read ๐
Awesome as ever, Alice,
I love looking at these characters, past and present (or past and finally soon to be present) and remembering all they brought. Great job pulling out aspects of their personalities and tieing it in with the dialogue.
I’m with the others in agreeing that this site, these articles, all the posts back and forth have made this hellatus fly by. Imagine starting out with 17 weeks (which we didn’t even know at the time it would be 17 weeks) and now we’re down to 17 days…whee, I have toes leftover after I count!
Thanks for this wonderful list. Agree wholeheartedly. Expecially about the awesome Bobby. How I do love that guy. (And also fear greatly at times that the PTB’s will want to kill him off. Please nonononono not ever!)
There has been one site that dislikes him a lot and complains that he overshadows the brothers when they should be solving their own problems. Also complaining that he takes time away from them. I guess they would be happy for Dean and Sam to be the only people in the show and on camera 100% of the time. LOL! Poor J’s! They would be comatose by now.
I just love the fact that Dean has this great friend who is more fatherly towards him than John ever was since he was 4 years old. You can really see how very much Bobby loves him. Great acting by Jim!
This site has certainly helped us through the hellatus and we are very grateful to you Alice, and Elle2 for all your efforts. Many thanks to both of you for this friendly place we fans can visit.
I was betting in “uncle” Bobby to number one on this, and I was right!
Great as usually Alice ๐
And only 17 days to go…
๐ฏ Cheers Bevie, I feel reassuringly bitter and twisted now … Still, we know how fab he is so stuff ’em all!
I love these lists! Hellatus has just disappeared in the blink of an eye with these fun top-tens. Thanks for the goodies Alice.
Don’t feel bad about technical difficulties – On Sunday morning my neighbourhood was without power for about 6 hours because a squirrel walked over a power line – viruses and power outages; these things happen.
Looking forward to the Winchesterisms!
Alice, isn’t it kind of sad that out of the 10 unsung heroes, seven of them are dead? Missouri Mosely and Chuck (God) are still alive, and Bobby did die, but he was bought back. Let us not forget that Anna turned out to be a backstabbing female dog.
