The Music – Season Three
The Music, Season Three:
The Magnificent Seven:
I love AC/DC and these were ringing closer and louder all season long
“Hell’s Bells” by AC/DC

Sin City:
Anything by CCR is going to make this list.
“Run Through The Jungle” by Credence Clearwater Revival

A Very Supernatural Christmas:
This one gets two…very different.
Silent Night as sung by Sam and Dean [a/k/a Jared and Jensen]
“Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas” by Rosemary Clooney

Malleus Maleficarum:
Because it is so true.
“Every Rose Has Its Thorn” by Poison (From Alice: I’m also including Screaming Jay Hawkin’s “I Put A Spell on You” from that clip. I absolutely love that song. It’s one of the few songs from the 1950’s that I can say I enjoy).

Mystery Spot:
These worked throughout this episode but it’s the first time for one and the last time for the other that really get me”¦
“Heat of the Moment” by Asia
“Back in Time” by Huey Lewis and The News

No Rest For The Wicked:
Again, two for this episode.
First off, the tradition,
“Carry On, Wayward Son” by Kansas

Brotherly bonding with Bon Jovi ““ who rocks, on occasion.
“Wanted, Dead or Alive” by Bon Jovi, as sung (badly) by Jensen and Jared

That’s it for Season 3, darn that budget crunch. Still, Eric and company managed to put in some goodies.
Thanks for reading

Alice’s Take
No, there wasn’t much to choose from at all! Still there’s a few more that made my list.
Fresh Blood
“Crazy Circles” by Bad Company. I’ve certainly made my dislike for Bad Company known, but this song did work in this scene beautifully. Plus, if I remember correctly, we were so starved for classic rock by the time “Fresh Blood” aired (okay, you guys were, that was my very first episode on watched live), to hear something ended up being a huge treat. The song is so true, you don’t know what you’ve got until it’s gone.

Dream A Little Dream of Me
First comes early, after the opening titles. I don’t like much of what The Doobie Brothers put out, but I do love “Long Train Running.” It just has something that gets the blood going. It’s an interesting selection to play while Sam is getting drunk at two in the afternoon.
Second, sure the song “Dream A Little Dream of Me” comes from well before the classic rock era, but not the version done here, sung by Mama Cass of “The Mama’s and the Papa’s.” It was a really sweet scene, and it hurt not to see Dean in the middle of it.

Ghostfacers
How dare you forget about “Hocus Pocus” by Focus elle2! That song was on my wish list for an episode and I’m thrilled they found a way to work it in. It’s one of those classic rock jam tunes that’s so off the wall, so unusual, yet so iconic it makes a quirky statement whenever used. Plus, it fits the Ghostfacers so perfectly. Dean was also blaring “We’re An American Band” by Grand Funk when the Impala pulled up to the Morton House. No, they aren’t standing out! There’s also “It’s My Party” by Leslie Gore, but I won’t expose everyone to that kind of horror, especially when the chorus was on a feedback loop. It’s too gut cringing!

Hey!!! I just had a thought, thanks to these clips.
For all of Season 3 Sam is trying to save Dean from going to hell. We find out at the end that if Sam had taken Ruby’s help, he likely would have killed Lillith and kept Dean from Hell.
Well now we know (thanks to S4) that Dean broke the first seal and Sam broke the last – by killing Lillith.
What would have happened if Sam had managed to use his mojo and killed her before Dean went to Hell?????
Ah, Tigershire, an interesting question indeed, very, very interesting!
I know listening to those clips got me psyched to get the rest of this hellatus out of the way and bring on the new season!
Hi Tigershire.
I’m thinking that maybe because Lilith was destine to be the last seal, that this would of made her immortal to all except the one destine to complete the last seal.
Otherwise Lilith’s safety and survival could never be guaranteed. And the chances for Lucifer to ever be freed would of be next to none.
Just a thought.
Well, as I was expanding on this thought for a post on my own blog (http://tigershire.blogspot.com/ if you are interested), I sort of answered my question myself. Ruby would have thought of something in the end because she and Lillith were really working together but we didn’t know that until the end of Lucifer Rising when she was gloating.
It still makes me wonder what might have happened if Sam and Dean had been able to kill her before though…..
