Memorable Moments: Supernatural 12.22 “Who We Are”
Welcome back to the “Memorable Moments” series! For 12.22 “Who We Are”, I have once again put together a list of what I felt were the best and most memorable moments from this episode. The list varies from episode to episode depending on what has transpired. I hope you enjoy it and share what your picks would be.
Best Broment
While trying to break through the Bunker’s wall….
exhaustion takes over the brothers. ‘We earned a break.’
While realizing that they will never be able to break through the wall, Sam ponders “How did this happen?” “Which part?” Dean asks. “All of it” replies Sam.
After a discussion on falling for the BMOL ‘Crap lines’ Sam asks Dean “Is this how you pictured it, the end?” “No, you know it’s not. I always thought we’d go out Butch and Sundance style.” “Yeah. Blaze of Glory” “Blaze of Glory” says Dean agreeing.
Best Sam Moment
Sam gives a inspiring speech to some fellow hunters. Hoping they will come and battle against the BMOL.
Best Dean Moment
Dean finally able to use the ‘Grenade Launcher’
‘Yippi Kiya Mother @#&%’
Best ‘Awwwww’ Moment
With Alex heading to friends for safety while Jodi is setting out to battle against the BMOL, she gives Alex a goodbye kiss on the forehead.
As Sam is ready to leave with Jodi. Dean gives Sam a hug goodbye. “You come back”
“Promise”
“Bitch”
“Jerk”
Most Moving/Powerful Moment
Dean has agreed to have Toni put him under to help reach his brain-washed mother.
Dean finds himself in his childhood home.
Dean sees his old kitchen…
Dean hears the cries of a baby and goes to the crib setup in the living room.
In the crib is Baby Sammy.
He then sees Mary back as she was in 1982.
Dean sees Mary serve his young self a PB&J sandwich.
He tries to reach her…..
…but she’s too locked into this moment of her life…
As she looks over baby Sammy, Dean tells her of the life he is going to have. Being locked in the cage with Lucifer, being addicted to demon blood…etc
Dean is finally reaching Mary.
He tells her ‘I hate you….. and I love you. I can’t help it.’ He then tells her ‘I forgive you for everything’. He then asks her to look at him, to see him.
She finally breaks from her denial and turns and looks at her son.
…Dean
Best Jodi Moment
Jodi shooting and killing…..
…Dr Hess. (Ding dong the Witch is dead……)
Best Mary Moment
Mary shooting and killing…..
….Arthur Ketch. (In the words of the Joker from 1989’s Batman “I’m glad you’re dead’)
Most Bitter Sweet Moment
Although I was not unhappy that Toni was killed by Ketch. It was the earlier conversation with Dean that gave me that bittersweet moment…
When they first arrived back at the bunker to try and cure Mary, Dean asked Toni where the stuff was that she was going to need. When she went to get it Dean stepped in ‘Think I’m letting you out of my site?’ ‘Need I remind you that my organization left me to die. At this point I’m not on anyone side, but my own. So I help you try and save your mother and when the dust clears.’ ‘What I let you go?’ ‘I’d like to see my son again. I’m not asking for a pass, I’m asking for a head start.’ It’s sad that she never got to see her son, but I feel more for the son that never got to see his mother again.
Best CGI/VFX scene
The explosion of the BMOL bunker.
Cutest Moment
After Dean has fired off the Grenade Launcher to hopefully free them, Sam goes looking for him. However between the lack of air and dust from the explosion, Sam collapses as he struggles for air.
After a couple of minutes the power starts to come back and the air start filtering. Sam starts to recover.
He then hears the Bunker door open….
It of course is Dean. Although he is hurt he still manages to stay witty. ‘Hey Lunatic!’
Causing a relieved Sam to smile.
Best Lighting Scene
I love the reflection of the lamp off the table with the glow of the red emergency lights in the back.
As the lights start to come back on it gives a soft glow to the room.
Grossest Moment
Dean’s wounded and infected leg.
I also have to go with Mary’s nasty weapon dripping with blood and guts.
Best Family Moment
Sam overhears Mary being scared that Sam wouldn’t be able to forgive her for what she has done.
Sam reassures her that she never has to be afraid of him.
The two embrace.
Soon Dean joins in on the well deserved ‘Family Hug’
