The WFB Supernatural Season 12 Fan Choice Awards – The Results!
The nominations were collected, the votes have been cast, the results have been tabulated, and the winners are now official! I’m proud to announce the winners, runner-ups, editor’s choice and maybe a few honorable mentions just for kicks for the 17 categories of The Winchester Family Business Supernatural Season 12 Fan Vote Awards.
Best Episode of Supernatural Season 12
Winner (by a wide margin)
“Who We Are”
Runner-Up
“Regarding Dean”
Editor’s Choice
“Who We Are”
This one wasn’t as close as I thought it would be. In the end, the fan favorite episode 12.22 overcame all other episodes easily, even though “Regarding Dean” was a contender early in the voting. For me, I was with the masses. It was kind of a no-brainer. You’ll find that “Who We Are” has taken many prizes in this year’s awards.
Results:
Keep Calm and Carry On – 6%
Regarding Dean – 27%
Stuck in the Middle (With You) – 19%
Who We Are – 45%
All Along the Watchtower – 3%
Worst Episode of Supernatural Season 12
Winner (or should I say Loser?)
“The One You Were Waiting For”
Runner-Up
“There’s Something About Mary”
Editor’s Choice
“There’s Something About Mary”
You know, “The One We Were Waiting For” was pretty terrible, taking a beloved idea created by the legendary SPN writer Ben Edlund and just completely trashing it with a weak version of “The Producers.” Honestly though, it didn’t make me as spitting mad and furious as “There’s Something About Mary.” I mean seriously, I was ready to quit the show after that one until Bobo Berens gave us the absolutely perfect “Who We Are.” Any episode that results in a very vocal #firebuckleming outrage on Twitter (with me joining in even though I usually hate those kind of campaigns) that actually trends higher than “Supernatural” itself deserves some sort of prize. May it never happen again.
Results:
The One You Were Waiting For – 28%
LOTUS – 16%
First Blood – 2%
Family Feud – 9%
Ladies Drink Free – 12%

The whole use of “Post It Notes” – “Regarding Dean”
Newbie writer Meredith Glynn redeems herself with this award after winning the Worst Episode award. Two in a row for her! The winner and runner-up were really the only ones in the contest. The others barely registered, although Dean trying to read his lips in “Regarding Dean” managed to scrape up a few votes. Yeah, I know, the winner was more of a running gag than an actual scene, but it was fantastic. For me, the payoff with the whole Post it Note gag was huge. You had to wait for it, but “Witch Killing Bullets” was the ultimate zinger too priceless for words. Honorable mention to the warning not to go for the grenade launcher.
Results:
Castiel crash landing through the ‘Mystery Spot’ sign – “Keep Calm and Carry On” – 8%
Scenes in the hotel in LA, Castiel/Crowley/Sam/Dean – “Rock Never Dies” – 7%
Dean trying to read his own lips – “Regarding Dean” – 13%
The whole use of the post it notes – “Regarding Dean” – 52%
The diner scene – “Stuck in the Middle (With You)” – 21%
Most Tear-Jerking Moment in “Supernatural” Season 12
Winner
Dean’s speech to Mary – “Who We Are”
Runner-Up
Dean losing himself in front of the mirror – “Regarding Dean”

Dean’s speech to Mary – “Who We Are”
I actually wept over the closing group hug in “Who We Are” as it seems many of our voters did, but honestly I was an emotional wreck before that moment happened, mostly due to Dean’s heartfelt and stunning speech to Mary while trying to get through to her. It was all so revealing not just for Dean, but Mary as well. She was happiest and safest when at home with her four year old and newborn son. That’s the place where she has been stuck all season long. As for Dean, the reveal that he has always been angry at Mary because of what her deal did to Sam, not him, sums up every action of his in the entire series. To reconcile this moment and decide to move forward was a huge step for both of them. Bravo Mr. Berens for managing to tie up such an important thread in one beautiful and long overdue scene.
As for our runner-up, that was number one in my book until “Who We Are” aired. Some absolutely great stuff for Jensen this season.
Results:
Sam giving Mary John’s journal – “Mamma Mia” – 7%
Dean losing himself in front of the mirror – “Regarding Dean” – 30%

Best Brotherly Bonding Scene in “Supernatural” Season 12
Winner
Sam and Dean’s discussion about their legacy and then carving their initials on the table in the MOL library – “The Memory Remains”
Runner-Up (by a close margin)
Dean’s show of confidence in Sam and the big hug before separating – “Who We Are”
Editor’s Choice
The “blaze of glory” discussion – “Who We Are”
It seems this time I’m going against the grain. I absolutely loved the whole scene of Sam and Dean, exhausted and near defeat while trapped in the bunker, discussing how they thought it would all end. In a blaze of glory. There was just something about the brutal honesty of that discussion that got me teary, one of three times in what is clearly my favorite episode of the season. Dean’s speech and the brotherly hug at Jody’s was awesome, but there were bigger moments in that episode for me. As I said
But “The Memory Remains” was pretty damn good and offered one of the rare sentimental moments this season had to offer. By the time that had aired we were dying of thirst for a brotherly moment and it delivered something very quenching. A well deserved accolade from the fans.
Results:
Sam and Dean’s talk in the bathroom – “Regarding Dean” – 14%
Sam and Dean’s discussion about their legacy and then carving their initials on the table in the MOL library – “The Memory Remains” – 37%
The “Blaze of Glory” discussion – “Who We Are” – 19%
Dean’s show of confidence in Sam and the big hug before separating – “Who We Are” – 30%
Best Kick it in the Ass Moment
Winner (With more votes than all other selections combined)
Sam and Dean single handedly taking on the special forces chasing them and winning – “First Blood”
Runner-Up
Dean and Ketch’s fight – “Who We Are”
Honorable Mentions (aka very close to the runner-up)
The raid on the British Men of Letters compound and Jody killing Umbridge, I mean, Dr. Hess – “Who We Are”
Sam killing the Alpha Vampire – “The Raid”
Editor’s Choice
The raid on the British Men of Letters compound and Jody killing Umbridge, I mean, Dr. Hess – “Who We Are”
Yes, this was a three way battle for second place. Only the scene of Mary beating up Mr. Ketch didn’t register much with voters. I picked the death of Umbridge, I mean Dr. Hess, because I thought she was the most ill-conceived and heinously annoying character since the ridiculous Styne family (not to mention a terrible scene chewer). My Chuck, I NEVER thought it could get worst than that. Once again, Brad and Eugenie proved me wrong. She was not “love to hate” as much as she was “WTF were they thinking???” Her death was soooo freaking satisfying that I watched it again, and again, and again, and then one more time. So yes, Sam and Dean taking on the special forces was awesome, but to me was so damned predictable and I was already picking through the plot holes of “First Blood” by the time that part got to air. But I was in the minority.
For the record, Dean finally using the grenade launcher would have been an awesome option too but “Who Are We” already had two scenes in this category and I really needed that for another one. It just goes to show, we needed more action and badass moments through the entire season, not just in one episode.
