Running bits? Yeah, you know, those little jokes/references that just won’t die. Something started on a whim early in the series and still carries on years later because their mention makes fans happy. “Supernatural” especially loves repeating items from it’s vast archive simply because it can.
There are the obvious ones, like the rock star aliases for their fake FBI identities, that are just too numerous to mention. What’s on this list are still fan favorites, but they are the lesser used bits. Those that hold a special place in the fandom’s heart. In no particular order, here’s my fond salute to ten fantastic bits from “Supernatural.”
Magic Fingers
Magic Fingers has been more popular in earlier seasons, but the references have always been popular in the fandom. It’s certainly made a lot of fan fics. It makes sense though. After all, when have you ever seen Dean Winchester this happy?
Yes, the magic fingers was always Dean’s sort of thing. We never caught Sam indulging. Interesting though, the last Dean sighting of his cheap motel indulgence was in season six’s “Two and a Half Men.”
However, leave it up to our current writing team to remember an old classic. Season twelve and low and behold, Dean isn’t the only one that digs that magical box that only requires quarters for a good time. Mary mentions “Magic Fingers” in her list of current plans in the recent episode “Family Feud.” Like mother like son.

The Winchester family really gets put through the ringer on this show, don’t they? I can’t think of another program on television that kills off it’s series leads so regularly and so gruesomely. Of course, this is part of what makes Supernatural so amazing: they are willing to really go there. Because Dean died so…
(Note from Alice) I’m honored to post the very first article from Ardeospina! It’s been a while since we’ve had a guest contribution and she’s the first to actually take on something that I’ve always wanted to do but haven’t had the time for yet. Needless to say, I’ve very pleased with what she came up with. …
Poor Sam Winchester. Not only has he had a ton of misfortune and bad luck in his life, but there are often times he finds himself in precarious, utterly humiliating situations which he didn’t come close to inviting but has been forced to endure anyway. Sure, several of his little embarrassing messes are the result of his…
#6 – Dean’s Death Montage ““ “Mystery Spot” This is a prime example of why Supernatural is so great. Death can be funny. The genius behind this show tapped into comedic gold just by killing off one of the two leads again, and again, and again. They just had to do so with all sorts of cartoonish ways. Then, they even…
#7 – Shapeshifter – Pick Your Favorite I try to give a subjective analysis to these lists, but it’s obvious every once in a while when the subject matter gets too damned subjective, what I pick might not necessarily jive with most other opinions. Take for example the Shapeshifter. There have been three of them in…
Hey man, is that Freedom Rock? Bonus points to any of you whipper snappers out there who get that reference. This edition of listmaking concerns not the best rock and/or roll tracks to have graced Supernatural, a different proposition altogether, but those used most deftly, their sound and fury complimenting and/or embellishing the on-screen action…
