Running bits? Yeah, you know, those little jokes/references that just won’t die. Something started on a whim early in the series and still carries on years later because their mention makes fans happy. “Supernatural” especially loves repeating items from it’s vast archive simply because it can.
There are the obvious ones, like the rock star aliases for their fake FBI identities, that are just too numerous to mention. What’s on this list are still fan favorites, but they are the lesser used bits. Those that hold a special place in the fandom’s heart. In no particular order, here’s my fond salute to ten fantastic bits from “Supernatural.”
Magic Fingers
Magic Fingers has been more popular in earlier seasons, but the references have always been popular in the fandom. It’s certainly made a lot of fan fics. It makes sense though. After all, when have you ever seen Dean Winchester this happy?
Yes, the magic fingers was always Dean’s sort of thing. We never caught Sam indulging. Interesting though, the last Dean sighting of his cheap motel indulgence was in season six’s “Two and a Half Men.”
However, leave it up to our current writing team to remember an old classic. Season twelve and low and behold, Dean isn’t the only one that digs that magical box that only requires quarters for a good time. Mary mentions “Magic Fingers” in her list of current plans in the recent episode “Family Feud.” Like mother like son.

#9 – Pagan Gods Antagonists are even better when their work makes them happy. That’s especially true for the Pagan Gods turned over-the-top suburbanites in “A Very Supernatural Christmas.” Only the warped minds of the Supernatural creative team could pull off such this absurd pairing. Meet Madge and Edward Carrigan, the modern day too-sugary- to-be-real…

Hey man, is that Freedom Rock? Bonus points to any of you whipper snappers out there who get that reference. This edition of listmaking concerns not the best rock and/or roll tracks to have graced Supernatural, a different proposition altogether, but those used most deftly, their sound and fury complimenting and/or embellishing the on-screen action…

If you have a weak stomach, be warned. Some of these screencaps are pretty gross. If you think you can handle it, read on! I was inspired to write up this list by Ben Edlund’s insane opening to “My Bloody Valentine.” Gruesome! We all know that Supernatural can be a really gory show. And normally,…

Recently, I dug through my WIP archives and found several incompleted “lists” from the various seasons of Supernatural. You know, they were done in the vein of the David Letterman “Top Ten Lists” only SPN related. Most of them so far have been rambling garbage, but I found one at least that was a little…

Note from Alice: Sorry for the slower posting on these, but this last week has involved an intense and painful “upgrade” of yours truly’s laptop to Windows 7. Okay, it’s better than Vista, but it’s still Microsoft! Anyway, I think the kinks are getting worked out (not to mention the time we took to do the…

Choosing your top songs from Supernatural is a challenging idea simply because there have been so many through the years. In her recent article, Karen said she picked the first ten musical moments that came to her, so I pretty much tried to do the same: which songs and which scenes came to my mind…
