Fan Video of the Week: Supernatural Reflections “Out of the Darkness, Into the Fire”
“Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that.” – Martin Luther King Jr., A Testament of Hope: The Essential Writings and Speeches
aka The Darkness
New season new tricks. Well, almost new, at least from me. This season the fan video articles will have their one year anniversary. I hope the anniversary lands on as good of a masterpiece as “The Werther Project” which is when this video series began. Until then, we have work to do!
It is time to continue with new fan video articles with the looming season 11. There is no better way to do it than start it with a bang!
Season 11 episode one. What angle should I take? The songs? No videos with those songs. So how about The Darkness? There weren’t any videos, or so I thought… until I found one new one. The season opener needs to be special, though, and the first video even if strong was only instrumental so I decided to find a second one. “Run Through the Jungle” by Creedence Clearwater Revival was not a hit with video makers but the lyrics of the song fit the new season so I wondered if the band had other songs that may have been used in videos.
I found the song “Bad Moon Rising” but it was a cover and not the original CCR version. The voice is deep and dark and very slow but when you listen to the lyrics the words fit the start of this season like a glove. Of course I found the original song also with a fan video so you can think of that as a bonus. The video contains players and scenes from the past that still matter in season 11, and might actually be crucial to defeating The Darkness. The Cage, Michael and Lucifer were all mentioned! The past is catching up the present.
Without further-a-do, a little tidbit from the real backstory of The Darkness. Enjoy!
Genesis 1:1-5
1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
2 The earth was formless and void, and darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was moving over the surface of the waters.
3 Then God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light.
4 God saw that the light was good; and God separated the light from the darkness.
5 God called the light day, and the darkness He called night. And there was evening and there was morning, one day.

Bad Moon Rising by Mourning Ritual
Original: Creedence Clearwater Revival
I see a bad moon rising
I see trouble on the way
I see earthquakes and lightning
I see bad times today
Don’t go around tonight
Well, it’s bound to take your life
There’s a bad moon on the rise
I see a bad moon rising
I see trouble on the way
I see earthquakes and lightning
I see bad times today
Don’t go around tonight
Well, it’s bound to take your life
There’s a bad moon on the rise
I hear hurricanes a-blowin’
I know the end is comin’ soon
I feel rivers overflowin’
I hear the voice of rage and ruin
Don’t go around tonight
Well, it’s bound to take your life
There’s a bad moon on the rise
Don’t go around tonight
Well, it’s bound to take your life
There’s a bad moon on the rise
Here’s the original version for comparison.

Bad Moon Rising – Supernatural – Creedence Clearwater Revival HD made by: PedroHeinrichB
“Bad Moon Rising” is a song written by John Fogerty and performed by Creedence Clearwater Revival. It was the lead single from their album Green River and was released in April 1969, four months before the album. The song reached No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart and No. 1 on the UK Singles Chart for three weeks in September 1969 (see 1969 in music). It was CCR’s second gold single.
Creedence Clearwater Revival (often shortened to “Creedence” or “CCR”) was a US rock band active in the late 1960s and early 1970s. The band consisted of lead vocalist, lead guitarist, and primary songwriter John Fogerty, rhythm guitarist Tom Fogerty, bassist Stu Cook and drummer Doug Clifford. Their musical style encompassed the roots rock, swamp rock, and blues rock genres. Despite their San Francisco Bay Area origins, they portrayed a Southern rock style, with lyrics about bayous, catfish, the Mississippi River, and other popular elements of Southern US iconography, as well as political and socially-conscious lyrics about topics including the Vietnam War.
Quotes:
Sam: When did we forget how to do this?
Dean: What!?
Sam: Dean if you don’t change right now, all of our crap is gonna keep repeating itself.
Dean: Okay, I don’t even-what?
Sam: This, this kill first question later. What happened to us? Hunting things — were good at that, sure we’re great at that. But that’s only half of the bumper sticker, man.
Crowley: Daddy’s home. What?
Demon Minion #2: Sir, there are rumors from Hell.
Crowley: Rumors?
Demon Minion #2: The Darkness has been released.
Crowley: The Darkness? Please. Myth. It’s a bedtime story, something daddy demons threaten toddler demons with to get them to eat their vegetables. Even if it was true, what’s the concern? Darkness, King of Hell — natural allies.
Demon Minion #1: It’s just something happened sir, in the Cage.
Crowley: What?
Demon Minion #1: They said it sounded like a frightened animal, all of Hell heard like someone was going crazy. The rumor is that Michael or Lucifer, one of them is trying to warn us…
Crowley: About the Darkness. Ridiculous.
Demon Minion #2: Except… half of Hell is sort of freaking out sir, what do we do?

Which version do you like SaD from Bad Moon Rising? The original or the low voice?
Glad you liked the videos!
– Lilah
I like the original best Lilah. I’m a big CCR fan! But the low version was an interesting interpretation of the song.
WOW I seem to say that alot on this site wait I will look for a new word — could nott find much, lets try fantastic. I really. really loved the slow deep voice version. it suited the video perfectly and was dark and ominous which this season is & Dean when you put those shots together like that He is a real bad ass and actually queit worrisome. You can see how easily he could be taken over by his dark side.
Actually its quiet sexy mmmmmm :o:o:o:o:o:o Not much of Sam but its funny that even though Sam has acted Dark Sam and he was brilliant and a little sexy mmmmmm :o:o:o:o:o:o:o
