Supernatural Bits and Pieces July 5, 2015
Supernatural on the Web this week.
Fangasm published two interviews with stars from Supernatural. First they talked with Ruth Connell on Playing a Strong Female Character (And Having a Blast) on Supernatural .
An hour of conversation with Ruth is made extra pleasant by the fact that her lilting accent is just plain gorgeous. I’m pretty sure I could listen to her talk for an alarmingly long time, just sitting there nodding and grinning. Luckily, Ruth is too engaging for a one-sided conversation.
They also caught up with Curtis Armstrong who talked Supernatural, Making Sense of Metatron and Making Misha Break ! . (This interview was conducted immediately after Curtis’s last episode, so some of the season ‘s twists had not yet happened.)
Metatron’s machinations figure importantly in the season’s ongoing arc of Castiel trying to regain his grace, and the Show leaves things up in the air as to what will happen in Season 11, now that Metatron has taken off with the demon tablet. If anyone understands the mind of Metatron, it’s the actor who so brilliantly portrays him.
Jeffrey Dean Morgan has been on a publicity tour for his show Extant. He spoke with Variety saying that Season Two is ‘Moonlighting’ In a Future World
Morgan spoke to Variety about the part that got him back on broadcast television, making believable science fiction dramas and the similarities between himself and his character (note: It’s not a coincidence that the character’s named JD).
He and Halle Berry appeared on The Talk fon CBS to talk about season two of Extant.
In a more fun moment, Jeffrey and his wife Hillary Burton attended the premier of Ant Man. The Reveal posted pictures of them on the red carpet during the event.
BBC News states that Jake Abel is under consideration to play Bonnie Prince Charlie in a new film about The Young Pretender.
Monsters&Critics reports that Misha Collins’ Gishwhes, the annual
worldwide scavenger hunt that tens of thousands of participants from over 100 countries participate in each year as they complete exciting, inspiring, and unconventional challenges (“Items”) intended to break people outside of their comfort zone, spread kindness and create social good within their respective communities.
will take place August 1-8.

Jensen and Rob Benedict are already scheduled perform on the album so we will get to hear Jensen’s gorgeous voice yet again. Jason is still deciding what covers to use on this album and he is posting a cover a week to YouTube to help make this decision. He has already posted two videos.

Supernatural returns to Comic Con next weekend. Unlike previous years TV Guide will not be publishing a Supernatural cover for that week’s issue.

and this fabulous picture. My heart just exploded I think. Just disregard the grownup juice. Also check out how Jared ”hung” up the flag.
Fantastic picture. Were they at the game? And what do you mean about the flag?

So Ryan Curtis just announced (sounds like effective immediately) he is leaving SPN to work on the Flash. It seems that was a surprise (rumor) to the tptb since filming starts tomorrow. Sounds like a lot of jumping ship all of a sudden. Last season maybe.
Cheryl, who is Ryan Curtis & what does he do?
I have not kept up with everything/everybody.
No, this kind of jumping ship on the crew happens all the time. He’s just a VFX crew member and not the supervisor. Trust me when I say, working on The Flash is a big promotion! It’s a hit show, the biggest show the CW has ever had, and it’ll be around for a long while. They take the best of the best. I still don’t think 11 will be SPN’s last season (although I think 12 will be), but in this case, I couldn’t be happier for Ryan. It’s well deserved.
Per Ryans own Twitter account something went down and he is no longer on Flash. I hope he can return to Supernatural. That has to suck. “Hey, I got a new job, great career move!!! Oops.” Maybe it will be a blessing in disguise and something else will turn up. I feel for you Ryan.
My gut feeling is that Supernatural won’t end unless there is an announcement in effect that this will be the last season of Supernatural. I suppose it’s possible that such an announcement will happen at Comic Con, but since it didn’t happen when they renewed the show, I think it’s unlikely. From what I saw, Ryan Curtis does visual effects on Supernatural. The Flash is a younger, big hit, with some really interesting visual effects, so him jumping ship may simply be going to a more interesting job with more money to play with. The only other person to leave was Adam Glass, and he may just have wanted to go to other things. I don’t think there is any real indication that Supernatural is being cancelled this year. Frankly with ratings still being good for the CW, as long as Jared and Jensen want to stay, I think the show will go on. Even if the ratings suddenly plunge, I expect some kind of wrap up “see the end of this incredible journey” final season. Heck Nikita got one with horrible ratings.
Supernatural has a big place in streaming, DVD sales, etc. ending with a cliff hanger might put a crimp in those, so I expect a nice, reasonably neat wrap up when the show eventually ends.
TPTB would announce it as the final year so we are safe in that respect. As long as the show maintains ratings and the boys want to keep doing it then Pedowitz wants it to go on.
I liked Ryan. Hate to see him go.
How cute were Danneels blue contacts! And is it customary now to wear your beer koozie? It was a FANTASTIC GAME!!!
Adam Glass left because he had a big chance to be an EP (with big influence) on a new show for a much bigger network. That was a hard opportunity to pass up. He had no say over Carver and Singer. Considering SPN has a limited shelf life and the Criminal Minds spinoff was getting huge buzz, it was a no-brainer.
