My Brother’s Keeper

Death returns! Cas apparently convinces Crowley to help. Crowley and Rowena meet again and they work with Cas. Sam and Dean do interact. What do you take from these pictures? Will Crowley and Rowena make up, or kill each other? Where will Cas fit into this? Let us know in the comments.
I don’t think Crowley and Rowena are enemies at all. She wanted him back at his fighting weight and now that he has broken free of Sam’s influence (blood related) he will see that. He still might stab her in the back just on general principles (or vice versa) but they will gang up on Castiel / Sam / Dean (since they are no longer a group)
That’s what I said eilf! That’s what I said too!!! great minds! :D:D On the discussion board I said that I didn’t believe that Rowena wanted Crowley dead at all, she wanted him King of Hell fit. I got suspicious when she kept insisting that Sam kill Crowley “her way.” I don’t think that hex bag was to kill him, I think it was to “unbind” him from his human emotions… and she used Sam (poor Sam) and now Crowley is back to his old self. I think though that Rowena’s plans may backfire on her. I am wondering if Crowley will kill her anyway out of sheer spite… the monster turns on it’s creator after all.
Great minds exactly E 😀 I like the idea of the hex bag breaking Crowley back into his bad self.
That would be an interesting coda to the whole Frankenstyne story wouldn’t it – the monster turning on its creator? Good point!
I think that Rowena would die telling her son she was proud of him if he went back to being evil enough to kill her.
Oh I just remembered, Rowena’s grandson is still knocking around the SPN universe too – that would be an interesting family reunion…Though honestly I am a little unsure if he is Rowena’s grandson ….
I wonder if she will be the “fan favorite” whose killed? TPTB seem to be tossing that “fan favorite” moniker around a lot lately. Just cause you say it don’t make is so, dudes…. just sayin’. It would be kind of cool if Crowley just basically turned on her as a reward for getting him back on track. Although if Rowena is killed before anything comes of the book then that will negate the entire BotD’d story line and Sam’s credibility along with it… which would royally suck be be SO like what Carver would do. It was also totally negate Charlie’s death an her “sacrifice” in getting Sam the email. I have no love lost over charlie but I hate planted, diversionary plot lines that serve no other purpose than to distract. The Stynes were that…. time wasted on set up and details just to give Dean someone to kill but still maintain his reputation. No likey.
Sounds very plausible to me that that was Rowena’s goal, eilf and E. When I watched the episode, I wasn’t sure why Sam was using a hex bag when it seemed like there could have been more efficient i.e. safer ways to kill Crowley. So it’s good to know that Rowena had wanted Sam to use a specific method to kill Crowley.
Even if the hex bag made Crowley spit up all of the human blood that Sam had injected in him (metaphorically or literally), Crowley still has the memories of what it was like to be more human. He sounded very sarcastic when he said, “So, thank you, Sam, for reminding me who I really am.” He could still have a soft spot for the Winchesters and he could even choose to become more human again.
That’s the same club Sam got threatened by Deanmon in episode 2 or 3
To me those pictures don’t indicate that Death wants Dean to kill Sam. More like Death wants Dean to take his responsibilities. It would mean that the mark of Cain would be gone but Sam doesn’t want that kind of resolution to it because then he would lose Dean. And Dean not wanting to pay that kind of price either but feeling resigned to his fate. But Dean would have to come to the realization that he and Sam can overcome just about anything when they are together.
There’s not much evidence of the much rumored brother fight here. Neither one of them looks roughed up (you’d think Sam would show some signs seeing as how Dean is now all powerful supposedly). Maybe Sam will reap himself having found out that his being reaped will allow Death to heal Dean… that would be kind of cool. Death says he wants Dean to reap Sam, but at the last moment Dean finds he can’t go through with it. So then Sam jumps up and slits his own throat with the scythe, saving Dean, removing the mark and going with Death the way he wanted to in season 9 opener. Dean can then spend season 11 trying to figure out a way around what Sam sacrificed for him and work to try and get him back. Added bonus if Sam is returned to earth not knowing Dean, or Cas or anything at all about his former life. Then Dean can angst about weather or not to reconnect with Sam or help him remember or teach him about hunting again. That would be pretty cool and would finally show that Sam CAN actually do something right, which is why it will probably never happen.
There is one picture of Sam on his knees with a bloody face

Ah! I looked at the pics in a smaller format and didn’t see his scrapes. He doesn’t look too bad though considering that Dean is now supposedly able to subdue and beat to a bloody pulp and angel. How Sam is supposed to fight against Dean in his current condition is beyond me. Maybe the fight consists of Dean throwing Sam around.
What if Death turned bad? I mean he’s always been shown like some impartial supreme justice equal for all, but what if now he has his own agenda, and that’s why his reapers are now running away from him? Then there will be great enemy to fight for the Winchesters in seasons to come!
I like what everyboy is saying but it sounds off – I don’t reckon their showing us the real gory pictures In the latest video release. Dean is out on another rampage killing people, tearing up a motel room, looking into a mirror and having flashes of Castiel then he punches the mirror. You then get a snippet of Sam saying on the ph. Its OK what every you have done we can fix it.
Whether this is a ploy to get Sam to come to him because then you see Sam – Dean and Death holding his sickle and both Dean and Sam in earnest conversation. SPN say whatever is gonna happen is going to effect the life of Sam and Dean, and the mark is still there for sometime into S11. So I think either Cas or Crowely are killed or even Sam :(:(:(:(:(
Could the fight break out because Dean is about to agree to Death’s terms (like becoming a reaper) but Sam won’t let him because it would mean losing Dean?
Death being tired of being Death would explain the rogue reapers and the veil getting so crowded that Tessa and other reapers wanted to commit suicide.
Now I’m starting to think that neither Cas nor Crowley will get killed in the finale because the penultimate episode already showed both of them getting close to dying. To do it all over again in the very next episode would not be as effective anymore (unless the show would aim for shocking the audience with a character getting killed very suddenly).
Ive been reading a lot of speculation about Dean becoming Death. I have read many people freaking out because Dean is taking Deaths scythe from him. Um, I dont see anything picture or video that shows that as a definite. You could interpret it that way but its cut and edited to leave things up in the air. I dont see where Death would benefit from Dean taking over unless he just wants to go off with the big G and drink booze from a coconut. Whats the price? Killing Sam so there wont be any more interference in the natural order? Lame. Having to kill Sam as a ingredient in a spell? Lame. Death probably doesnt cast spells anyway. And if Dean takes over for Death what the Hell kind of storyline is that gonna be? SEASON 11: (Cas enters the bunker) “Hey Sam! Wheres Dean?” (Sam looks up from his laptop) “Oh hi Cas! Yeah, Deans off being Death, doing deathlike things…” Snore. Jared cried when he read it and Jensen raved about it so we will have to see have the season finale plays out. I have faith in them and Carver can write a crackerjack of a script so…
Well thanks to Leah’s (a joint effort with eilf) question to Jensen at Seattle con there is a possibility that Dean dies but his vessel does not. So it could be Dean’s vessel is possessed by Death. According to the synopsis Dean makes a decision that affects both him and Sam. They also compared it to SS where Sam agrees to be Lucifer’s vessel. This could be the hole that Jensen referred to as well. How do we get Dean back from that. Just speculation, it’s what we do this time of year. It’s fun to see how close we get.
I think you might be on to something because it was very weird the way Jensen gave that answer. He hesitated, like he was trying not to give away too much. But I’m not sure I’d like that plot twist. For one thing, it would seem to set up the same “save Dean” plot for next season, which would totally blow. TIME TO MOVE ON WRITERS! Also, it would indicate that the writers are now lazily recycling every old story line for Sam and tweaking it a bit to use it for Dean. The MOC has been similar to the demon blood arc, except for being poorly and boringly executed, and dragged out WAY too long. So if now Dean’s vessel is to be possessed by whomever, ala Lucifer/Sam, it would be as though TPTB were checking off another item on their to do list. Who knows, maybe in season 12 we’d even have a plot where Dean hit a cat with Baby and…..well, it practically writes itself!
I had a different thought. It’s Dean’s soul that is jeopardy here. What if Death takes Dean’s soul and we are left with Soulless Dean? Maybe that is why Sam is crying because he knows what that means and Dean is gone.
You might be on to something. They’re giving Jensen every plot they’ve ever given Jared, so soulless would be next. Maybe the point is to show Dean just how much his brother has had to contend with over the years and how he’s stood up AWESOMELY under all of it and now he’ll actually be more empathetic
…….Crickets chirping………
I know. Like they’d actually show Dean learning something about Sam and having some character growth……I crack myself up. 😉
And that still leaves Sam with the utterly useless and inconsequential BotD story line that will come to nothing other than to show us all what a fool Sam is.
Dean learn what it’s like to have been Sam? Ha! Everyone will applaud deans fortitude and forget entirely that same been thru anything.
I just can’t figure out why Death would do any of this. If he takes the MOC off Dean but takes his soul as well, not much has been gained. Some of the soulless people in season 9 turned homicidal, since apparently being soulless affects everyone differently. In any event, if they go the soulless Dean route, Sam ain’t the only one who’ll be crying. Give us something fresh!!!
I guess it depends on Dean’s deal with Death. Dean was able to rein in Sam when he was soulless so I suppose Sam could do the same and he would have some experience at what being soulless felt like. I don’t know it’s just Jensen’s comment about his vessel and dying got me thinking about this possibility.
I agree that Dean taking over for/becoming Death would be the lamest, most shark-jumping plot ever. What possible reason would there be for Death to propose that ? And Death is the oldest, or co-oldest, being in the universe, so how could a mere mortal suddenly be elevated to that? I don’t care how they explained or presented it, it would be beyond stupid. It would kill the show for me (notice my clever pun). It was enough of a stretch to have Dean be Death just for one day.
Agreed! This would just be the worst and totally out of left field. What about all those episodes building up The Book of the Damned? What would that have been for? What was Charlie’s death for? What were the Stynes for? I REALLY hope that this is not where they are going. Dean as an empty husk who’s taken over by Death? Come ON… that is just too dumb and idea to even contemplate. We’ve already seen Dean acting as Death already and we’ve seen what happens when Death isn’t doing his job (Death Takes a Holiday). We’ve also seen Dean die and Sam cry over his dead body just this past season. Talk about tired retreads. Geez. I am hoping with all my hope that this is not where they are going.

God damn! This show needs to reign in all these stupid coloured lights, neon signs, and unrealistic and unnatural background lighting.
It’s fucking terrible. It’s suppose to create atmosphere and compliment narrative, not overpower it and distract the viewer from the story.
You mean like this?

What the hell is that from?
hahaha you guys crack me up.
S4 I Know What You Did Last Summer. Until Alice pointed it out in her review I never noticed it.
Something occurred to me while looking at these pictures. It appears that Dean uses some kind of spell to summon Death. If that’s the case then that is going to further piss me off. The last time Dean wanted to speak with Death he had to risk death himself… flatlining and seeking him out. It was a very risky thing to do and he was desperate enough to do it and he had only four minutes to state his case and beg for help. Now all of a sudden he can just fill a bowl with crap and summon Death and Death comes at Dean’s beck and call? They are going to sit down and have a lengthy heart to heart? If that is not adequately explained I’mma gonna be pissed. Remember your own canon show!
I think they did use a ritual to summon Death in season 7? When they needed him to help open the portal again to get the Purgatory souls back into Purgatory. He had to create an unexpected eclipse, maybe. I remember they had some kind of chain that was supposed to bind Death and it was broken. Then Death warned them to never do that again. So a ritual isn’t 100% out of left field.
Was that the one where he said “I’ll be reaping one of you very soon” and then Bobby died? I’d forgotten about that. Well hopefully Dean summoning him again will have the kind of gravitas needed to show us that isn’t just some kind of answering service who picks up whenever anyone decides to call. This show has been Lousy with a capital L when it comes to consistency and canon. I’d like to see Death basically tell Dean that MoC or no MoC that Death could wipe up the floor with Dean in a heart beat. I really and truly that this is not the episode where an awesome character like Death is ruined by incompetent writing.
Another carefree-Carver-canon moment.
That’s not Death’s true sickle. That’s a scythe. Hopefully it’s a different instrument for Death, but I have little faith in canon-fodder Carver.
