Jensen Ackles talks about Supernatural
As our season comes to a close, several publications talked with Jensen about what to expect from here to the finale.
In an interview with Variety Jensen talks about the battle to remove the MOC
Ackles agreed, “This is a battle that is internal, and it’s not something that they can lock and load their shotguns and go after together. Unfortunately, Sam can’t find a cure, and of course, the loyal brother that Sam is will die trying, and Dean knows this. It really is this inner struggle where Dean can’t seem to get a grasp on the evil power that’s inside him, and Sam can’t seem to let go of trying to save his brother. We’ve seen similar things with this before with the demon blood and soulless Sam; it’s usually flip-flopped as far as the characters go, but it’s a heavy internal struggle that finally comes to a head at the end of the season.”
In an interview with EW Jensen notes
I believe this season, Jared [Padalecki] is going to out-tear me,” Ackles said, adding, “so I’m happy about that.”
Jensen also talked to People Magazine not only about where this season is heading, but also about the Mental Health Awareness Campaign the and Jared have worked on. He also discusses Jared’s issues in season three.
I think it’s that he had gotten taken away from his life that he had known, which was hanging out with is buddies and working a couple of days a week on Gilmore Girls and having a support system around him. He was 22 years old when the show yanked him away from that life and basically put him up in a city and in a country that he was unaware of and unfamiliar with and made him the star of a TV series, which is a lot of pressure
Check out these interview for more hints of where Supernatural will go this year.
The only reason Sam will out-tear Dean is if something bad happens to Dean. I will be so bummed if the finale sets up a tired re-tread of Sam having to save Dean next year. Unless Sam is crying because he has to kill Dean, which would be even worse since the Sam haters would be all over that. None of the options I was hoping for look like a possibility, i.e. Sam saves Dean, Sam sacrifices himself to avert catastrophe, Sam dies to rid Dean of the MOC.
So, I just read the Variety article and my take-away is,
SAM DIES, something else significant happens also.
On to the next 2 articles.
Now having read all 3, if Sam ”out tears, Dean” then CAS dies, Sam assists in some way.
From one of those interviews it’s clear that Dean still has the MOC after the finale. That better not continue to be the story arc next year or I will be fit to be tied.
Oh, the MOC “non-story” as I like to call it is likely to be carried into next year. Oh well . . . I won’t likely be watching next year anyway so I don’t care.
lala2, will you be leaving the fandom for good? 🙁
I would grudgingly accept it being carried into next year as long as it’s not the primary, or even a significant, plot line. Maybe more of an itch that Dean occasionally needs to scratch.
Having read all of the interviews I can only conclude that Dean is on his way to …… death, demonhood, knight of hellhood, whatever. I don’t really care. A tired retread that negates season 9 is basically what it will be, only I figure they’ll find some way to make all of it Sam’s fault… hence the tears.
AHAHAHAHAHAHA
:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D
I am not convinced that Charlie is entirely dead tbh. Pyre or no pyre. (Though I honestly am not feeling much heartbreak – no more than anyone else who has been fridged and less than some – like Kevin for instance, and he and his Mom were sweet and very entertaining also). I would feel it way more if they killed Jody off since she has always been a grounded character in the show and I believe her existence as a real person, not a character from a comic book (don’t get me wrong, I get the art form that is comics, they just don’t appeal to me generally and SPN was never a comic-book show, it was a horror anthology).
I was still catching up with the show when Cas went swimming, and it never occurred to me for a moment that he was actually gone for good. This seems similar to me.
You know what would be fun, is if the Steins had cloned a Charlie-bot. Then Felicia could stay on the show, we wouldn’t have any more Charlie-Sueing (which is what is actually annoying about her character) and she and that other socially inept creature (Cas) could have adventures together. And you would never know when she was going to freak out and destroy the world.
Okay I finally have to ask- what is this “fridged” reference?
No, no, no no! No Charlie ghost (like Bobby) or Charlie bot or Charlie mirage, spirit, memory or anything. They killed her, let her be gone. Ugh!! The character went from interesting and endearing to annoying and then from improbable to preposterous, and then her death was a shameful manipulative cheat. Let the poor girl be gone! Be Gone I say!
That’s my take as well, that we’ll be treated to a bigger, badder Demon Dean. But then I think they wouldn’t possibly do that, right? essentially have the same plot but on steroids? Even these guys have to have more imagination than that, right? But all signs are pointing to it. It’s almost like they want the MOC to be for Dean what the demon blood was for Sam, and have it be a factor for years. That’s the way it sounds in Jensen’s interviews. Dear God, please let me be wrong. Because what, then, will be Sam’s story for next year? I cannot take another year of episode after episode of wordlessly concerned Sam.
I was just thinking the exact same thing, that Carver got it in his head that “lets turn Dean into a demon” was enough of an idea to basically re-do what Kripke did in the first five years only in reverse and with Dean. Unfortunately Carver isn’t creative enough to flesh out what COULD have been a very interesting arc for Dean into something enduring. Kripke did a whole lot more than just have Sam drink demon blood, it lead to something bigger, and involved Dean in many ways. Carver’s idea was too basic and since they are seemingly unwilling to show Dean do anything actually demony (don’t sully the lily white saint with bad acts!) The whole story line has been wasted and has gone nowhere. None of the writers have mined it for how it could reasonably include any of the other characters, so basically they all just stand around, or there is a feeble attempt to employ them elsewhere in sub stories like Crowley/Mommy, Cas/Claire in embarrassing, unsupernaturallike sobfests. And the main arc is too basic, and moving too slowly for them to even include their other LEAD character who doesn’t even have a secondary story for most of the arc (until of course they decide to throw him under the bus to mitigate whatever Dean did, does or might do…..Don’t focus on DEAN and the killing mark he has on his arm NO! Sam is the bigger monster!). What a joke it’s all been.
Agreed. And the demon blood story was NEVER the sole story line for a season. There were usually multiple plot lines, all involving Dean to some degree. The demon blood often played out in the background, then was featured in an episode or two. If it had ever been the sole arc for more than an entire season, leaving Dean with nothing to do but look/act concerned, it too would have been a mind-numbingly dull story. But Kripke & co. had the creativity and imagination to juggle multiple plots at once.
It does seem like a very drawwwwwwwwwwwwwwwn out story line. Most story;s maybe start toward the end of one season and concluded by Ep 23 the following season. As you all say and I beleive as well there is 101 great stories they can draw from. I think its time for fresh story writers on this show. I do feel sorry for all the Loyal fans who have been there from day one. They have been through alot, excepted alot, been very forgiving. Charlie didn’t need to die like her character or not, she was someone who was normal ? a friend someone who I feel brought balance to the boys. I like Jody Mills as well – these 2 charcters needed to stay in the show. It was a wasted and pointless death – and if the bring her back in some strange way just to make us the fans happy it will be a mute point.
Cas what a waste of a character – Is he a angel of the lord with super powers or not. OK his wings our still broken and he can’t fly around but bloody hell – Remember when the boys burnt their brother Adam’s body – Sam said to Dean then could we ask Cas for a favour and bring him back. Why couldn’t they ring him now and do the same. Cas is more pathetic now with angel power than when he was human – Crowely King of Hell or not same thing waste of great talent to SUPER BAD WRITING. Jared & Jensen need to get out before their good names are sullied any further.
THIS SHOW HAD LEGS TO GO MANY MORE YEARS – BUT SUPER CRAP WRITING IS KILLING IT OFF. :(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(
PS We have one more sacrfice to go – who is dead now Cas And Yes I heard MOC is falling over into S11 for how many eps who knows.
Jen, I couldn’t agree more with all of your points.
My opinion:Sam will be killed trying to save Castiel.
MoK Problem solved!
Why on earth did they kill Charlie? Oh I forgot no female character allowed to survive!
