Interview with Robbie Thompson of Supernatural about Charlie
SpinoffOnline has posted an interview with Robbie Thompson about Charlie Bradbury. Warning spoilers!
The interview talks about how he created Charlie,. It also mentions her upcoming episode.
The original pitch was actually completely different. I knew that the story was basically going to be very myth-based, and my pitch for it was, “Hey, could we do an episode like the movie The Insider, where there’s this Russell Crowe character within Dick Roman’s empire who is a whistleblower?” That eventually evolved into something much, much different, and I think much, much better thanks to [then showrunner] Sera Gamble, who is a fantastic writer and was a fantastic boss.
Her relationship with Sam and Dean
Let’s talk a little more about Charlie’s experiences on the show and her relationships. From my perspective she appears a little closer with Dean than she is with Sam, is that correct? I guess so. A lot of people have pointed that out. For me it’s just one of those things where it just kind of shook out that way from a timing standpoint, but I think there is a little bit more of a connection there. Hopefully in the upcoming episodes you’ll see a little more of a connection with both brothers.
And her return from Oz
All I can really say is Charlie definitely comes back from Oz and she’,s brought back something that’s pretty scary. She’s going to have to confront it with the boys.
The rest of the article is here.
So what do you think? Are you excited to see Charlie again?
I like Charlie well enough but I do have to admit I dread her episodes as I know it will basically be the Dean and Charlie show with Sam as the third wheel. Also they do tend to dumb Sam down around her just to make her look which is such a shame esp when they already dumb Sam down to make plenty of other characters look good. I hope to see just as much Sam/Charlie in the next episode and for it not just be them both being concerned about Dean.
I love Charlie and since Robbie Thompson writes her episodes they are usually a lot of fun. I will forever love Pac Man for Sam saving the day, the awesome gun range and for the spontaneous hug. LATRG for just about everything and for the epic role play in the end (Sam in a pony tail and Dean with long hair), Oz because we finally got to see Sam’s room, bad ass hunter Dorothy, Gad/Zeke and flying monkeys. I am looking forward to whatever Charlie brings back from Oz. Should be fun.
I like the character Charlie and especially liked Pac Man Fever. Not so much the Oz episode. I agree Sera Gamble was a great writer but not so much a great show runner. Her decision to kill Bobby changed a huge dynamic in the show and I think it left a hole that can’t be filled. Just my option.
