New Interview with Jeremy Carver on Supernatural Season 10
TV Line has posted a new interview with Jeremy Carver about where season 10 is heading.
With Dean now a demon, and Sam on a quest to find and save him through whatever means necessary, Season 10 features a sometimes dark, “much more personal road,” executive producer Jeremy Carver reveals. To that end, many of the characters — not just the Winchesters — will ask themselves, “Am I my own worst enemy?”
The interview goes into more detail about Dean’s path as a demon
TVLINE | In the trailer, it looks like Jensen Ackles is having such a ball playing demon Dean. What’s it been like for you in the writers’ room, taking this really well-established character and showing off a different side of him?
It’s been a lot of fun. It’s actually more careful than it seems… Some of the darker things that demon Dean does [are] fun to write but a little bit wince-inducing, because demon Dean is certainly darker than regular Dean… There’s always this worry of, “Oh, my goodness, is Dean really doing this?” But of course, it’s demon Dean. It’s liberating in one sense, and a little bit nerve-inducing in the other.
Sam’s dark path
You also have Sam doing some dark stuff, including torturing a demon for answers. How dark is Sam going to go to save Dean – or to find him, should I say? It’s actually a little bit of both. He goes even darker than [that scene].
and Cas’s journey to find Dean
TVLINE | What about Cas’ reaction to Dean’s new state? Are we going to get to see him interacting with demon Dean?
Yes, we will. Sam and Cas are both on the search for Dean when the season opens. They’re doing it in very different ways, for reasons that are explained in the opener. Cas has a very heavy investment in Dean’s welfare, as always.

Yep that interview really didn’t do anything for my growing disappointment with what they are going to do with DD. I hope it comes off better than it sounds because right now stunt demon #2 is sounding scarier than Dean.

😀
Yep. Have to agree. I can understand that they don’t want to to the same old thing with Dean, but frankly, it sounds like they are trying to hard to be clever when they should just take the obvious route. Demon Dean needs to be a demon, period. He’s even worse than a demon, he’s only the second MoC demon to exist on the earth. Why that would make him into a smarmy, party boy is beyond me.
I normally avoid Carver’s interviews but noticed everybody’s reaction and had to take a look. Dean was becoming very difficult to like towards the end of S9 so maybe they feel the need to lighten things up. Your discouragement is understandable; all indications are that this will be a giant cop out when it comes to Demon Dean; I think they’re afraid to go there with the character because it would be too difficult to redeem him. But at least Carver is being consistent with Sam; from the previews, it looks like he’ll be unconscious AND tied up by the second episode of S10 🙂
Sad, but true and funny as all get out!
Heh… that’s true. I’ve always had a fetish for tied-up Sam though, so I’m actually looking forward to that part. 😀
Uh….you mean we actually get to admit that? Well then….;)
