Thanks for doing this Bardicvoice! They were so detailed. I’m not sure how you did it but it is greatly appreciated. I read all 3 days.
Mary: How typically thoughtful of you to provide this info for all of the SPN fans that were not fortunate to attend this con (or perhaps ANY con). Since Creation Entertainment clamped down with their rules, those of us who cannot attend receive only dribbles of info compared to the coverage available before. So please know how very much your conscientious reporting means to all of us. THANK YOU VERY MUCH.
Seconded.
I found it fascinating to read Jensen’s answer to the fan who asked him about how he prepared “getting in to the emotion of the scene”. Jensen said that after all these years it isn’t necessary for him, and that makes sense. In costume, on set, facing “Sam” – he simply becomes Dean.
But now comes the fascinating part . . . Jensen comments that it isn’t “getting in” to the emotion of the scene that sometimes takes effort. Instead, it is “getting out” !
That reminded me of a comment Jensen once made about why he usually grows a beard or wears his hair differently during hellatus. He said that helps him to see himself in the mirror every morning.
Those comments got me thinking about what it means for such a committed and “detail oriented” actor as Jensen to play the same character for eight years in a row.
For Jensen, do the lines ever blur between Dean Winchester and Jensen Ackles????
What an interesting thought!
suzee51, he has talked about how when they are filming those heavily emotionally scenes, that even though he intellectually knows it’s not real, his body still reacts as if it’s real. He mentions, for example, the scene when he finally breaks down and tells Sam about what happened in hell. He said when they ‘cut’ he had to go down the road to walk it off.
He did say that he can slip in and out of Dean pretty easily but he has mentioned that once in awhile Danneel will point out that he is talking like Dean a bit. He has also mentioned that the writers know their personalities so well that they will incorporate that into the scripts. I imagine that the lines do blur occasionally 🙂 .
