Let’s Discuss: What Untold “Supernatural” Stories Would You Like Revisited?
It’s Comic Con next week, and slowly but surely more information will be coming out about “Supernatural” season nine in the next week. Given that, I thought this “Let’s Discuss” topic idea was perfect! We need a good speculative discussion. This suggestion comes from Bookdal.
What about the untold stories of “Supernatural?” Are there stories you wish they’d revisit and if so why? Or stories that you like to see happen? What about the Antichrist kid? Revisiting the youth of Sam and Dean? What did Dean do while Sam was away at Stanford? What did Sam do other than screw Ruby during dean’s time in Hell? What was Dean’s hell like?….etc.
This is “Let’s Discuss” so it’s a free form discussion. Anything goes. We only ask please don’t disrespect other posters or blast any ideas.
With all that said, it’s time to discuss!
There is one fan fic I absolutely love, it’s called “Coming Down On a Rainy Day” it’s on Fanfiction.net.
oops, it’s called “Coming Down on a Sunny Day”
All your suggestions and then some! I could go on and on…
Well, briefly I would have liked to seen added to an episode where Sam and Dean were in the news a scene showing say, Charlie from Bloody Mary or Sarah from Provenence (these are just a couple of many possibilities) watching it and made some ‘Oh my God’ comment.
Have a great time at comic con…am following your other account for all updates you can provide:-)
I would like a little more investigation of Dean’s time in Hell. Have a demon that Dean personally tortured into becoming a demon. How does Dean deal with that? Extra points if the demon is Bella, or more for more of an impact, Mary. After all Samuel was working with Crowley to save Mary, maybe she ended up in Hell after all. In any case, I would like the consequences of the fact that Dean was Alistair’s pupil get a little more focus than it has.

This is absolutely incredible.
I like this idea.
Well assuming Sam didn’t pull it out of the trash can (I think he did, but that doesn’t make a story) I would love to see a story of the adventures the amulet goes on, being handed from person to place to person, bought, sold, traded and lost on it’s way back to the person who should still have it. Maybe half way through it’s adventure some nondescript person will take it in his (or her) hand, and it burns hot, and they smile and pass it on.
Eilf, that is a great idea. “they smile and pass it on”- love it!
This I shall write. I shall. If you let me steal your idea! 😀
Thanks all for your positive vibes! 🙂 Feel free to fanfic Darya – I want to see the outcome!
I like it too eilf! Darya, write it immediately! I can’t wait! (well, you know….)

This would be incredible! I really want to know more about what was going through Sam’s mind when he ran after Dean and Cas disappeared season 7. There was so much unaccounted for during that whole time, and I still don’t buy there wasn’t a true reason behind why he ran like that. I
The fate of the amulet is one story I think every fan wants revisited.
(I think Sam kept it. I want to believe that).
Or how about a pay it forward episode, again with a lot of interactions where someone Sam and Dean saved goes on to do something for someone else and on from person to person until eventually it results in some unexpected piece of luck for the guys (maybe months later) that helps them solve a case.
They never get to see the good that they do but we could occasionally 😀
Problem with my ideas? – Needs moar S&D! Sigh…
I would love for them to run into Missouri Mosely again. She ‘read’ Sam so well and had a rapport with him and was one of the only people besides Ellen, and Dad, who could intimidate Dean.
Yes I would like to revisit the Anti-christ child. I would hope the same young actor would still play him as he was really great.
I will probably get grief for this one 🙂 but I would love for Dean to take a peek to see how Lisa and Ben are doing. Not interact necessarily but maybe find out they are doing fine. As painful as that would be it might give him a measure of peace.
I would love for them to run into Missouri Mosely again. She ‘read’ Sam so well and had a rapport with him and was one of the only people besides Ellen, and Dad, who could intimidate Dean
Seconded! I loved the way Missouri handled Dean 😀 The actress seems very busy though.
Thirded! I loved Missouri, and I was so sorry they didn’t bring her back. There was so much potential for her interaction with the boys. Someone who got Sam and how difficult things were going to continue to be for him and someone who could have fun with Dean (and boy did she enjoy it 😀 ) and I think that he would have been entertained by the battle of wills between them.
I’m partial to the suggestion of visiting Dean’ s solo hunting while Sam was at Stanford. It’d be interesting to see a case from that time come back, when Dean would have been eager to prove himself and struggling to be a hunter in his own right, not just John’s second. It would also give Sam the chance to learn about Dean when he was on his own (I don’t mean in a guilt-trip way–I think it’d be interesting for Sam to think of Dean as an independent hunter, and there’s even some opportunity for him to get to show some of that brotherly concern we all like).
Or, maybe there was a case near Stanford that Dean decided to take to protect Sam, but all the while Sam was working the case too, on the sly. They could both somehow contribute to solving the case (a pair of monsters?), and only find out in present day that they’d been hunting together, even then. That could also lead to a greater understanding of each other during their time apart.
Some very interesting suggestion so far. I have been curious about where Jesse, the camion (half demon; half human) went to. He is a very big loose end because of his supposed power. He can dominate Hell or Heaven. He should not be left hanging as he could be a great alley or foe.
Another curiosity for me is Adam in Hell. If Sam could be separated from Lucifer and rescued why can’t they try the same for Adam.
Other loose ends: John Winchester made it out of Hell when the gates were opened, so where is he now? And what happened to Chuck, the prophet? He just disappeared with no explanation to where?
More backstory about the Men of Letters would be great. Jensen and Jared like to have time off in mid- season so such a storyline would be interesting with guest stars carrying the weight of the episode(s). The same token they could investigate the history of the Campbells who were “whacking the heads off of vampires on the Mayflower.” Perhaps summoning the ghosts of hunter ancestors may be useful to Sam and Dean for some problem they encounter. I don’t know…..this may be a stretch but if anyone can make a plausible link to the present story line using these ideas, it would be the writers of Supernatural.
Truth be told, I am very happy with the show and whatever stories they tell. That being said, here are some that I think would be great to explore further:
– want reassurance that John and Mary’s souls are in heaven. Neither ever sold their souls – so let’s see someone run across them up there. Come on, couldn’t JDM do a week in Vancouver during the Magic City hiatus?
– Agree with your article – Dean in Hell and ramifications – and, while we are at it, some meat on the bones (pun not intended) of Sam’s trauma in Hell and the year Dean was in Purgatory
– would love to see Dean run into the hunters that killed him and Sam in Dark Side of the Moon – he told them he would be pissed when he returned
– I want to see Sam’s room in the MOL bunker – and as a nice parallel to Sam finding the picture of his mom in Dean’s room, I would like Dean to spot the amulet in Sam’s room and have him realize he kept it all this time for his brother
– what if people they ran across in past seasons came to them for help? Wouldn’t it be cool if the Baltimore detective played by a certain Exorcist actress tracked them down for help with a case that seemed Supernatural? Or how about if the public defender – Mara? – from Folsom Prison Blues needed help with a poltergeist – maybe tracked them down through Deacon?
– Whatever they do, I really want them to have more classic rock in the background and fun moments for the brothers in the midst of or surrounding their work stories.
I’d be very interested to find out more about the demons ‘pulling Sam’s strings’ while he was growing up. It might help the audience better understand Sam.
Or how Gabriel managed to usurp Loki’s role. I’d love to find out his motivations for choosing to become a Trickster God. I’m not sure how they would work that into the storyline but I’m curious.
I agree it would be good to know more about Dean’s time in Hell, because it’s hard to really understand the impact on his psyche with so little detail.
I would like to see some of our fallen angels (Gabriel, Balthazar etc.) in times between their appearances in episodes. There could be good stories about how Gabriel got to the attitude he had in the episode that shall not be named (the Kali one) where he eventually decided to help.
And how did Castiel and Balthazar come up with their crazy plan?
Such great ideas!!! Not sure if this qualifies as ‘revisited’, but I would like to see Meg come back and have a relationship of some kind with Castiel. It doesn’t quite feel like Bobby is done yet, either. The Jesse story could really be a good one, I’d love to know what he has been up to. A brief glimpse as to what happened with Kate the werewolf would tie that story up.
I have always been interested in seeing how Ruby got Sam to cross the line or convinced him to drink human blood. Also i would really like them to explore Dean and Sam’s childhood experiences in hunting, to see how these shaped them into who they are today. I would also like more on hell maybe Deans experience because Sam’s tour was so brief.
Never want to hear about the anti-Christ kid again. Adam is resolved in my mind so don’t need to go there. I really am not a fan of childhood Winchesters and Show really can’t go back to Stanford days with the same actors- although a discussion of these items might be OK.
I am more interested in S&D finding answers and revelations in their bunker. Perhaps the true list of the first and last seals that give them a greater understanding of what angels and demons did in order to manipulate the brothers into letting out the devil. Like Mary & John were truely meant for each other but destroying the MOL messed that up and the angels needed Cupid to fix it. Or, the true purpose and power of the amulet (like it being used to put Lucifer back in the box.)
They have a vast well of knowledge now, they should be finding greater use in it, but also answers to their past and what might have been.
Would love to see story of Bobby and boys first meetin. It would be a hoot seeing Bobby with baby Sam. Would like to see more on pastor JIm. How did he connect with John and the boys
How about what it means to be a Legacy and a MoL? Perhaps Sam could find a history of the organization or they could explore the case files? Perhaps some Campbells were part of their hunter network?
For a one off episode, it would be fun to see Mary not able to entirely give up hunting while a young mother. Perhaps a neighborhood friend is in trouble with a witch or something and she steps in quietly to help with John none the wiser. Maybe this episode happens when Sam and/or Dean are trying the blood spell that brought their grandfather to them. Wanek would have fun recreating that time period, I bet! And how lovely it would be to see more of the young Dean/Mary bond?! Or even the John/young Dean bond as John would have to babysit while Mary is busy.
I would like to find out at last where dead monsters (and also demons and angels) go – what if the brothers find this place, or places? Would be one hell of the episode!
Absolutely don’t want to see (after the ep.2 season 8) another scene with Dean happily torturing any species. Sure he was a diligent pupil of Alastair, even Benny winced seeing Dean’s horrible smile when he finally stabbed the creature. Maybe such scenes would add a new layer to the character, make it even more screwed up, more real, but obviously less lovable.
Do not want to see Dean more of Dean’s time in Hell. I know enough to accept him as a virtuous contradiction. So, A follow up to Jessie would be interesting based on my research of Nephilim. The angel/demon inhabits the human to produce offspring rather than a sexual act. The Nephilim are considered an abomination by angels because the Nephilim’s purpose is twofold depending on the type. One is to watch over humans and protect them from fallen angels know as exiles who wish to take Earth for themselves and destroy mankind, The other type is a watcher: Born by an angel inhabiting a human, the child is born, the Mother dies within six months of the birth but comes to the child in dreams. This child has powers to force fallen angels back to Heaven, This child has a partner who helps heal him and who he/she helps heal. So if the writers go this route it would be quite within the lore- It would also explain why Sam and Dean do not look like each other. Sam has been changed on a sub atomic level. No wonder Metatron wanted the Nephilim dead.
@Grace232: would love to see Dean run into the hunters that killed him and Sam in Dark Side of the Moon – he told them he would be pissed when he returned
I second this! I’ve been wondering about this for a while.
Add me to the gang who’d love to see Missouri return and to the gang who’d love to see Dean go after the hunters who offed them in Dark Side of the Moon. Bring those guys back…they find out that the boys had a shot to close off Hell forever and they didn’t do it…tick ’em off…get ’em back in Dean’s sights. Ha!
I’d also love to see the return of the Alpha Vamp. Despite what looks like an angel storyline ahead, there’s always room for Vamps, esp this guy. Rick Worthy is too good to leave on the sidelines for too long.
I’d also like to see Lucifer again. Not sure how’d they do it, but even if it’s in a halluncinating flashback while Sam’s recovering…anything to see Mark play Luci again and play with Sam’s mind just one more time.
And this really isn’t coming back to an old storyline, since I’m sure we’ll be getting much more into the the Men of Letters stuff in S9 and we know how Sam’s already ‘geeked out’ about it (and I can’t wait to see more of that), but I’d like to see what how Dean might get intrenched into the immensity of it all….and of course just why did the bunker light up like a Christmas tree when the angels fell to earth. I so love the Men of Letters intro into the series…there can be so much there.
And strangely enough…as “The Real Ghostbusters” was on TNT this morning, I’d love to see those 2 LARPer guys back again. They were so hilariously funny as fake Sam and Dean, it killed me. Once S9 gets rolling, we know there will be at least one ep that plays off humor. Why not these guys? 🙂
Don/t want to see hell. They could never show the horror that it was on TV. As for Adam, I thought Michael said Adam wasn’t with him, so I presumed he had sent Adam back to heaven. I’m going with that idea anyway. :-*
I’d like to see why Dean’s eyes bled too, in “Bloody Mary”. He had a secret that we’ve never found out about yet. We can go back in time with Jensen as he hasn’t changed much physically while Jared has beefed himself up a lot and could hardly play himself as a college student now. How young and innocent was Dean in “It’s a Terrible Life”, and he looked years younger than Dean did when Zach touched his forehead. I thought Jensen could have played young Dean in the high school episode.
I’d like Dean to find out that Sam has kept the amulet he threw away. He kept Cas’s coat in all the many cars he drove in season 7, so I certainly think he would like to have the amulet back. Especially since “no one or anything” comes before Sammy! And that was a symbol of the bond between the brothers. (I even miss Dean’s ring and bracelet, not to mention THE leather jacket) 😕
I’m scared to see Missouri again, as the writers might kill her off, like they did Sarah! 😥
How about Bobby, John, Mary, Bill, Ellen, Jo, Andy, Sarah, the granddads and Ash working together in heaven re: the fallen angels? A good way to see them again. Add in Pastor Jim, Caleb and Viktor Henriksen.
Bring Gabriel/Trickster back. God rewards him for his loyalty and revives him, but don’t change his personality that we love. Loved that trickster! 😉
I too would like to see the Ghostfacers annoy and bumble up Dean and Sam’s investigation again for a comedic episode. How have Ed and Harry evolved?
K Hannah Korossy is a fanfic writer. I like her stuff as she keeps to canon and really gets the relationship. “In Loco Parentis” is one I particularly liked, featuring Andy Gallagher helping out Sam when Dean goes missing.
A really gut wrenching trio of tales “The Woods trilogy” by Zatnikatel at FanFiction was, to me, almost impossible to put down. “The Woods are Lonely, Dark and Deep”, “The Killing Moon” and
“Never Come Back” are riveting reading. They follow on right on the heels of the boys leaving the Benders’ farm. Whew! What a read! Her later work I don’t enjoy as she gets into the Destiel genre which I don’t care for at all! But those three are well worth the time to read, if at all entranced by the Winchesters (and Bobby). 🙂
I know it more than likely will not happen but the night Sam left for Stanford and what was really said. That night left a mark on Sam and his relationship with John and it would be nice to see that father and son relationship explored abit more.
Hi Sharon, I am not sure how they would pull that off but I agree 🙂
Potential Untold/Revisited Stories:
-Dean really WAS Ben’s dad
-What happened to Layla from S1’s “Faith”?
-What exactly happened to Sam’s hallucinations in S7, and were they really just hallucinations?
-I’d like to see the following characters return to the show: Ellie, Benny, Kate (all from S8)
-How about some revenge from that female vampire (also named Kate) from S1’s “Dead Man’s Blood”
-I too would be interested in seeing what Dean would do when confronted topside with a demon he tortured in Hell.
-The amulet (bring it back, Carver!)
-What exactly made Bobby chase off John with a shotgun? (I did read a plausible fic or two about this…just have to find it again…)
-Dean’s adventures while Sam was at Stanford (I’m sure he had several that could tie in to something today).
-Walt and Roy, the hunters who shot and killed the brothers in S5 – HELLO, what happened to them??
-Amy Pond’s son… *crickets*
-The return of the Amazons from S7
-Any substantive story involving Jodi Mills
-Just how long had John known about Sam’s “condition”? (As an aside, I’ve read many a plausible fic about what happened the night Sam left for Stanford too…will have to find to post).
-The Leviathans: did they disappear? Did Crowley’s minions finish them off?
-Any story involving the Alpha Vamp
-I think a good story might entail the brothers attending Missouri’s funeral in Lawrence, and the memories and feelings that would bring up from times past.
-I would love any story that involves some sort of crucible for Sam Winchester, where he has to carry his badly injured brother out of a dangerous situation. Because I think Sam saving Dean, and the lengths to which he’d go to do it, and finally being ABLE to do it without resorting to nefarious means, is a major untold story of Supernatural.
Just to name a few. 🙂
Wow Bamboo, just off the your of your head?? 😀
Greal list.
Top of your head….. 🙂
Love your list Bamboo! Some in particular:
-It is funny I was watching Faith yesterday while ironing (I always seem to end up watching Faith while ironing …) and I found myself wondering for the first time if Leyla had survived, it was a long time ago (speaking if which, the baby they used as Sam in episode one is 8 or 9 by now!)
-And from Bitten, I would just LOVE to see the conversation in the restaurant from the brothers’ point of view, that would be great.
-Why John was so determined to keep the boys away from him, what did he know? It wasn’t that he was trying to keep them safe, several of the missions he sent them on as distractions nearly got them killed. When you think about it it is a strange way for a father to protect his children 😮
– Need I say how much I would love to see your last one happen? No? Ok then. But ….
I was actually considering adding Layla to my list but reconsidered when I realized she must surely be dead by now. But what if a miracle happened and she survived. A true miracle, that would be a nice resolution I think.
I love all of these except Ben being Dean’s son. I didn’t like Ben in The Kids Are Alright at all and when Nicholas Elia didn’t sign for enough episodes in season six, they lost any chance to make me like him.
Plus Lisa got screwed and trashed in so many ways. She loved Dean. He was living with her and Ben and barely holding on during the year Sam was gone. Not telling Dean that Ben was his would have been cruel. Then when Sam came back Lisa wanted Dean to stay with her and Ben. She knew what family meant to Dean and if Ben were his biologically, Dean would be even more devoted to him, so not telling Dean would be stupid of Lisa.
I would have no problem with Dean discovering he has a child when the series ends, I’m just not thrilled with it being Ben. Maybe a kid by Cassie from Route 666. It was shortly after that that Dean Winchester became Dean Winchester, serial killer, so that would give Cassie a reason to not tell Dean, plus he was supposed to be dead. Cassie doesn’t even have to come back. She can die off screen and Dean can find out about his child then.
I like your other suggestions.
I would love for Ben to be Dean’s kid! And I would like for Lisa to slowly remember the “best night of her life” and the “best year of her life”. It was cruel to take away those memories, no matter what.
Just my view. 🙂

Bamboo24, love love love this idea

I’d very much like to see this. It feels like something that is longed for and hasn’t been seen as yet. Sam saving Dean and not needing his psychic powers. Great idea Bamboo24! 🙂
Love all your suggestions Bamboo24, except for Missouri’s funeral! We don’t need to lose one of the very few friends who have still managed to stay alive.
(Still bitter about Sarah)
Would like to see Dean scare the s**t out of Roy and Walt. Don’t think he would kill them (would he?) but I sure would like to see them scared right out of hunting. 😛
Hell’s Angels by CeCe Away is an awesome fanfic that closes the story of Adam and Sam in hell..and out of hell. It closes that story perfectly..and is a real tear jerker too. I recommend it for those who want the story of Adam continued..and closed.
I’d like Dean to pay Cassey a visit!
Plus I’d like that Greek advocate guy (Farhan Tahir) to play with Sam n Dean’s heads! That way we come to know about their thoughts and fears, etc!
I liked this one and I’m sorry I am not giving proper quoting credit: I want to see Sam’s room in the MOL bunker – and as a nice parallel to Sam finding the picture of his mom in Dean’s room, I would like Dean to spot the amulet in Sam’s room and have him realize he kept it all this time for his brother.
I love the Alpha Vamp.
I, too, have always wondered about those hunters that killed Sam and Dean in DSotM.
And all of Bamboo’s “off-the-top-of-her-head†ideas sounded very interesting.
Stories that make sense within the Supernatural world would be good…
Oh l2b, having Dean find the amulet in Sam’s room is a wonderful idea. 🙂
Thanks, love2boys. It is an idea I havehadever since Sam saw the picture of his mom in Dean’s room. Glad you agree.
I would love to see Sam and Dean encounter a good, respected, not crazy hunter that is in awe to meet them. And that they learn from him the the hunting community now respect and fear them for what they accomplished – and don’t want to kill them anymore for their wrong doings.
From Bamboo24 thread and eilf’s idea: I would love to know a little of what the hell was God thinking, about everything: the Apocalypse, the angels, the angels, the monsters, the tablets, the trials and, especialy, the freaking Winchesters! Were them his plan from the beginning or not?
Hi Ale! I, too, would love for the brothers to see some long-deserved respect from the other hunters, but I’m afraid it’s hardly possible bcs as I see the writers’ concept the Winchester save the world but nobody knows, and this is the whole point. Recognition, respect would be too good things for them to happen, like that pie Dean wants and never gets. I’m with you about God’s plans, I’d like to see the mythology of spnworld completed, crowned and well-rounded. You know, like a map or a chart with arrows, red for God’s intentions, blue for angels and so on.:-)
Until more information is given about Sam’s time right after Dean disappeared at the end of season 7 that explains in any way shape or form WHY Sam did not look for Dean that makes SENSE, is organic, or is logical, I will not be satisfied. This to me is on the top of my list of glaring, nonsensical, irritating things that has ever been done by this show. Fix it please, I am begging you JC. Just one small piece of info that shows how Sam could have possibly made that decision.
I’d really like to see a return of Sam’s psychic ability and possibly even his powers or have it addressed in some way. That storyline just got dropped like a hot potato after season 5, and I often wondered about Ruby’s “you didn’t need the feather to fly” comment; she seemed to be insinuating that Sam’s powers were organic and that the demon blood just enhanced and manipulated them, but the powers themselves were always there. I’d like to see that explored.
Love to see that dang amulet again.
I want to see more of Dean’s time in Purgatory; maybe some repercussions here on earth or some knowledge he needs to tap into? What we got was great and so incredibly interesting, but it kind of got dropped about half way through the season.
I’d like to see Sam go to the ends of the earth to save Dean for a change. Don’t get me wrong, I love, love, love Big Brother, protective Dean with all my heart, but Sam feels the same way about Dean and I’d like to see that addressed as action (not telling) in the show for a change. Dean needs to see this and Sam needs to save Dean, probably more than anything after NOT saving him from either Hell or Purgatory. 🙁
In response to post #54
E – Yes, Yes, a million times yes – to all of this.
Did anyone mention Death? Remember last time we saw him he tossed out a nice little threat to Dean if he tried to call on him (or bind him) again. Death was such a great character (perfectly portrayed), I hope the writers figure a way to bring him back for an episode.
Thanks St50. I guess I feel a little strongly about some of these 😛
I agree hlnkid! He was a great character. I do hope he returns also. I kinda love that he is a fast food junkie 🙂
Hi!
I love this site and read it regularly. I just got the courage to post because I often think about this very question of dangling SL threads. I love everything everyone has mentioned and decided to add something to Ale’s comments. I have often thought it was a missed opportunity to not further explore the idea that all of these realms – heaven, hell, earth, purgatory – have been upended by the end of season 4 onward. I think sometimes how interesting it would have been to see those angels Uriel mentioned who advocated for Lucifer’s release once he actually was out of the cage or what ever happened to the hybrids Eve created or her eggs she kept hatching? All intriguing possibilities.
And I love the idea of the Winchester legend amongst the hunting community whenever it weaves its way into a story. It would be fun to learn more about that history. 🙂
I want to see the incident in Omaha between Bobby and Rufus. Actually I want to see anything that happened between Bobby and Rufus.
I want Claire Novak to make a return appearance and confront Castiel. No matter if Jimmy is alive or in heaven, Castiel destroyed Claire’s family AND used her to blackmail her father into continued possession and torture. To Claire, Castiel is her Azazel, the supernatural thing that took her father away. Even worse, he tricked a young vulnerable child into being used by him. I also want to know what happened to Claire and her mother after Cas switched sides. Cas promised that Claire and her mom would be protected by the angels because Jimmy said yes. Did that hold after Cas rebelled? What about after he fought Raphael? Or after he killed half of heaven? What consequences, if any, were visited on Jimmy’s family because of Castiel’s actions?
It would be nice, but not necessary, if they used a confrontation to clarify where Jimmy is dead or still suppressed by Cas. I really want Sam and Dean to acknowledge that they totally ignored the way Cas destroyed another family because they liked him and he was an ally. The first time Cas can claim consent. The second time consent was a result of out and out blackmail. Sam and Dean watched the blackmail happen and never even blinked about the person inside.
Yes, I have a bee in my bonnet about the fact that the show gets all hoity toity about how awful it is that demons possess people, but angels get a free pass.
