If I think about it too much, I will change my mind but not about the worst episode of the season.
Okay, I knew I would regret answering from my gut reactions. I nominated best friends with benefits as worst episode. Actually, if I could I would re place it with Bitten. I hated Bitten so much because it was not Winchester Centered and they had already done a film in the 3rd person with Ghostbusters, I totally wiped Bitten out of my mind. In Best Friends, there were a few good lines from Dean even thuugh he comes across as a goofus and not knowing a lot of stuff he should as a hunter- I nominated as worst because Dean was made to look like a dumbass, but my wanting to forget Bitten just shows how bad it really was. I did not think it was terribly interesting, pushed the plot, or challenged the actors in anyway. I thought it was a way to give the actors some time off set maybe. It does show Dean as not so black and white about monsters because of his experience with Benny, but I forgot it, it must have not resonated in my head as the word of Winchester, so if BBF goes against Bitten, I am going to vote for Bitten as worst- it did nothing emotionally. Sorry.

Best Brotherly Bonding Scene — Dean’s hugging Sam in Pacman Fever
Best ep – the finale
Worst ep – odd enough, but the only episode I completely forgot was Remember the Titans (sorry, don’t remember!)
Funniest scene – Cas watching cartoons and trying to interpret them, poor thing!
Tear-jerking moment – Sam’s final speech. Now I am of absolutely different opinion of him.
Best brotherly scene – so-o many! The hug in the Taxi Driver was the loveliest one IMO.
Best “Kick in the ass” moment – Sam with Thor’s hammer. Big surprise for me!

Best guest-star – Benny.
Best end to an ep – Torn and Flayed, so sad and yet one feels that something good is starting here.

Best brotherly bonding scene: Sam & Dean in the church at the end in Sacrifice

Best guest star: I have three: Mike Farrell; Jim Beaver (Boooobby 🙁 ); and Hal Linden
Best ending: the falling angels in Sacrifice. I just really loved that visual
Worst ending: Southern Comfort left me so very worried about the brotherly bond

Dean: C’mon man, it’s the Rudy-hobbit. Rudy-hobbit always gets a pass. From Goodbye Stranger
Best shout out to pop culture: Crowley’s use of the word droogs in Clip Show. Clockwork Orange is always going to win with me. 😉

It has never been like that, ever!” or 2) Sam – “You’re not a grunt, Dean. You’re a genius — when it comes to lore, to — you’re the best damn hunter I have ever seen — better than me, better than Dad. I believe in you, Dean. So, please — please believe in me, too.”

Worst Plot- Freaks and Geeks. Really, did it make ANY sense?
Best Use of Classic Rock/Any Song From Season Eight- This is the one thing that saves Bitten for me. The shot of Kate walking away to Milo Greene’s “What’s the Matter”. Hi, I’ve got a question – what’s the exact meaning of the term “guest star”? Is Misha a guest star, or a girl who played Krissy, or that amiable orc from LARP who fell for Charlie? From my POV – and I look at things as a viewer, not an expert – Kevin, Charlie, Garth and even Krissy who appeared in the previous season are now a part of a family ( though the actors in their contracts are probably denoted as guests). Castiel and Crowley are now an integral part of the show, but again, the actors Misha and Mark could be called guest stars or recurring characters. As Dean would say,”Define guest”:-) I’m confused, and maybe so are some other people. Would it be correct to name just any actor from the show except Sam and Dean?
Best episode: Sacrifice.
Worst episode: Man’s Best Friend With Benefits.
Funniest scene: The exploding cake in Hunter Heroici (plus Dean’s expressions throughout that episode) 😆
Most Tear-Jerking Moment: Charlie reading The Hobbit to her Mum in Pac-Man Fever 😥
Best Brotherly Bonding Scene: Dean stopping Sam from completing the trials in Sacrifice; Sam telling Dean his greatest sin & Dean telling Sam it has never been like that… and the hug! 😥
Best “Kick it in the Ass” Moment: Capturing Crowley in Sacrifice.
Best Motel Room: This is a tough decision… but I choose the first one of the season – in We Need to Talk about Kevin – purely because Sam looked so good standing in the doorway to the bathroom 😛
Best Guest Star: Depends on the definition of ‘guest star’. Mark Shepherd killed it as Crowley this season but he’s almost a regular; Felicia Day was only in 2 episodes but she’s still a recurring character. For the one-off appearance I’d pick Elizabeth in Citizen Fang.
Best Ending to an Episode: Dean’s Braveheart speech in LARP. I would’ve given it to the falling angels in Sacrifice but it’s getting my nod for best episode & the ending of LARP was so hilarious and so unexpected. It was also the first real brotherly bonding moment in season 8 and a sign that things were getting better.
Worst Ending to an Episode: Man’s Best Friend With Benefits. I personally hope we don’t see those characters again.
Best Quote: “These guys are psychopaths!” Aaron in Everybody Hates Hitler. 😀
Best Shout Out to Pop Culture: Crowley and the HBO references in Sacrifice.
Best Gratuitous Moment: Sam in the ice bath in The Great Escapist 😳
Best Plot: Men of Letters legacy.
Worst Plot: Sam and Amelia – unfortunately the story wasn’t well developed and lacked chemistry.
Best Use of Classic Rock/Any Song from Season 8: Man in the Wilderness (We Need to Talk about Kevin). But there were SO MANY great choices this season (Goodbye Stranger, Get Me Behind Thee Satan, Ode to Joy, etc).
That was fun 😀
I’ve changed my mind about the Best “Kick it in the Ass” Moment… if that’s allowed?
Capturing Crowley was awesome because the boys out-witted Crowley for once. But I’d have to give this award to Sam getting rid of Abaddon in Sacrifice. He’d just been thrown through a window and was in a very weakened state when he doused her in holy oil and set her alight – so he really did “kick it in the ass”.
Best episode: Sacrifice
Worst episode: Bitten
Funniest scene: Sam totally misses (hardly reacts to) the beer bottle tossed at him.
Most tear-jearking: the unclean speech – LONG overdue chance to highlight Sam’s motivations
Brother bonding: Sam’s you’re a genius speech (I’d like to put the Sacrifice final scene, but I’m not so sure they’ve really fixed anything yet)
KickItInTheAss: Sam and Thors hammer/ Sam and the hellhound/Dean in purgatory
Motel Room: The one Henry pops up in
Guest star: Ty Olsson, Osric Chau
Recurring Character: Misha Collins, Mark Sheppard
Best Ending: Sacrifice
Worst Ending: Southern Comfort
Best Quote: These guys are psychopaths!
Pop Culture: I love you. I know.
Gratuitous Moment: Sam’s bedhead/Vneck Tshirt
Best Plot: Undecided – probably the Gollum
Worst plot: Sam/Amelia/Sam not looking for Dean. (The whole thing was never ever sold, imo – just left for the fans to rationalize)
Classic Rock: Goodbye Stranger
Most tear-jerking: the unclean speech – LONG overdue chance to highlight Sam’s motivations
On second thought…. I’d have to add the “So?” scene as a tie to this one in the heart-breaking tear-jerking catagory.
Ok, plunging in! I’ll probably rethink some of these answers too, but here goes:
Best Episode: Sacrifice
Worst Episode: Bitten (hardly any S/D so there’s that)
Funniest Scene: Dean throwing the bottle of beer to Sam, & Sam with his glorious bed-head misses! Think it’s Pac Man Fever? 2nd would be Sam’s farty donkey speech from their supposedbutdidn’thappentrip to The Grand Canyon. 😀
Most Tear-Jerking Moment: Sam telling Dean he’s always felt unclean in “The Great Escapist” 😥
Best Brotherly Bonding Scene: Sam’s confession to Dean in the church, last scene of Sacrifice & “the hug” (I’d love to actually say all 4 hug scenes between S/D this season were awesome brotherly moments! 😥
Best “Kick it in the Ass” Moment: Sam killing the hell hound.
Best Motel room: Not a motel room but LOVE the bat cave! I will say that ALL of the motel scenes from the beginning are so creatively styled and amazing!
Best Guest Star: Mark Shepherd/Ty Olsson
Best Ending to an Episode: Hmm…tough because I loved Dean surprising Sam with a hug at end of Pac Man Fever, but Sam’s confession & epic hug with Dean (Sacrifice) was my all time favorite scene from any ep! I’m torn!
Worst Ending to an Episode: Once again Bitten cause I just don’t like that entire episode
Best Quote: Dean telling Sam “Don’t you dare think that there is anything, past or present, that I would put in front of you! It has never been like that, ever!”
Best Shout Out to Pop culture: Crowley’s rambling off names of HBO shows in Sacrifice~
Best Gratuitous Moment: Tough call (all involving Sam) 😛 Sam’s bed head, Sam IN bed(upper torso shot) Sam covered in hell hound blood or Sam in an ice filled bath tub! 😉
Best Plot: MOL/The trials (love them both)
Worst Plot: Sam not looking for Dean :sigh:
Best Use of Classic Rock/Any Song From Season Eight
Goodbye Stranger at the end of “surprise” Goodbye Stranger
Best Episode: Everybody Hates Hitler. Just a nice easy episode.
Worst Episode: A Little Slice of Kevin. I’d a headache from the eyerolling re the Dean remembering wrong aspect of it.
Funniest Scene: More a quote but when Sam and Aaron are talking and Dean is rolling around the ground after being thrown into the car and you can hear him groaning ‘My spleen’. That tickles me every time.
Most Tear-Jerking Moment: Probably the ‘unclean’ speech from Sam in The Great Escapist.
Best Brotherly Bonding Scene: When Dean is wrapping Sam’s hand in Sacrifice with a little smile on his face. That was nice.
Best “Kick it in the Ass” Moment: Sam burning Abbadon. The stealthy bastard!
Best Motel Room: Ah, come on. I can barely remember episodes this season, let alone the motel rooms!
Best Guest Star: The guy who played Prometheus. I’ve no idea who he is but he is the spitting image of my ex.
Best Ending to an Episode: The ending of Sacrifice was pretty spectacular looking. Though the ending of Everybody Hates Hitler was also kinda nice.
Worst Ending to an Episode: Hunter Heroici. It made me sad.
Best Quote: Either ‘My spleen’ or Sam’s unclean speech.
Best Shout Out to Pop culture: Not a clue.
Best Gratuitous Moment: There were surprising few this season, though there was a lingering shot of Sam’s hands in Sacrifice while was really very nice.
Best Plot: In an episode, Everybody Hates Hitler (I lurve that episode!) but a larger plot, I guess the MoL one.
Worst Plot: The Dean imagines he left Castiel behind in Purgatory but he really didn’t, he just wanted to believe he did, one. It was beyond pointless. and ridiculous on every level.
Best Use of Classic Rock/Any Song From Season Eight: I’m just going to copy someone else’s and go with ‘Get Thee Behind Me Satan’. Here’s hoping!
Best Episode-Sacrifice
Worst Episode-Man’s Best Friend with Benefits
Funniest Scene-Pac Man Fever: The bedhead, the clippers, the missed beer, the “That’s why we can’t have nice things, Sam” made me laugh.
Most Tear-Jerking Moment-Dean’s prayer for his little brother in Remember the Titans actually did make me cry so it wins.
Best Brotherly Bonding Scene-Sam and Dean. The church. Sacrifice
Best “Kick it in the Ass” Moment-Wrecked Sam still being able to best Abadon was definitely kick ass. Sacrifice
Best Motel room-The one with the time travel closet in As Time Goes By. Long lost relatives, cool.
Best Guest Star-Osric Chau
Best Ending to an Episode: Angels. They’re Falling.
Worst Ending to an Episode-Citizen Fang
Best Quote-“Don’t you dare think that there is anything, past or present, that I would put in front of you! It has never been like that, ever! I need you to see that. I’m begging you”-Dean in Sacrifice
Best Shout Out to Pop culture-“You’re my Marnie, Moose” Crowley in Sacrifice
Best Gratuitous Moment-Amelia steals Sam’s shirt in Torn and Frayed
Best Plot-MOL because it kind of revived the season for me.
Worst Plot-Sam not thinking to look for Dean. Seriously?
Best Use of Classic Rock/Any Song From Season Eight-“Goodbye Stranger” from (surprise) Goodbye Stanger
Best Episode: “Everybody Hates Hitler”
Worst Episode: “Mans Best Friend with Benefits”
Funniest Scene: “Everybody Hates Hitler” where Dean thinks he has a “gay thing” with Aaron.
Most Tear-Jerking Moment: “Sacrifice” when Sam said “so” when Dean told Sam if Sam completed the trial Sam would die.
Best Brotherly Bonding Scene: “Trial & Error” After the first trial Sam telling Dean that he sees a light at the end of the tunnel “and if you come with me I’ll take you to it”.
Best “Kick it in the Ass” Moment: “Trial and Error” Sam gutting the demon dog.
Best Motel room: Motel in “Southern Comfort”
Best Guest Star: Lauren Tom
Best Ending to an Episode: “Sacrifice”…”Angels. They’re Falling”.
Worst Ending to an Episode: “Remember the Titans”
Best Quote: After Sam opens up & shares a small emo moment with Meg she says “Wait. Hold on. There’s one thing I don’t understand. You hit a dog and stopped. Why?”.
Best Shout Out to Pop culture: “Pac-Man Fever” Pretty much the whole ep. but especially Dean & Charlie’s aliases “agent Hicks” & “agent Riply” a reference to Hicks and Riply from the movie “Aliens”.
Best Gratuitous Moment: “A Little Slice of Kevin” There were several all thanks to Crowly.
Best Plot: “Everybody Hates Hitler”
Worst Plot: “Freaks and Geeks”
Best Use of Classic Rock/Any Song From Season Eight: A tie for me, “Southern Comfort” “Fell on Black Days” by Soundgarden played when the coin was being passed from person to person…and “We Need to Talk about Kevin” “Man in the Wilderness” by Styx played when Dean came out of Purgatory.
Best Episode: Everybody Hates Hitler – Nazi Necromancers, Golem, MOL meets Judah Initiative to battle the Thule Society. Ah, Ben Edlund, you’ll be missed.
Worst Episode: Bitten… Man’s Best Friend with Benefits was bad, Taxi Driver completely rewrote canon, but Bitten takes it for wasting a cool concept (watching the Winchesters work a case through an outsider POV) on forgettable characters and a blah story. For the first time in eight seasons, I was bored.
Funniest Scene: Pac-Man Fever – bedhead Sam – “Just give me five minutes with the clippers†– Beer bottle toss – Sam misses – “That’s why we don’t have nice things, Sam.â€
Most Tear-Jerking Moment: Toss-up between Sam’s ‘unclean’ speech (and Dean’s unspoken reaction) from The Great Escapist, and Sam’s ‘You know what I confessed in there…†speech from Sacrifice. Equally powerful *Tosses coin* I’ll go with Sacrifice.
Best Brotherly Bonding Scene: Dean stopping Sam from completing the third trial at the end of Sacrifice
Best “Kick it in the Ass” Moment: Dean’s fight(s) for survival in Purgatory.
Best Motel room: Extrapolating here, but the MOL bunker. The best digs the boys have ever had. “My mattress – it remembers me.â€
Best Guest Star: Mark Shepherd – we know he can do snark, but I loved the menace he brought to this season.
Best Ending to an Episode: The final ten minutes of Sacrifice.
Worst Ending to an Episode: Dean’s fake Amelia text to Sam at the end of Citizen Fang. Ugh.
Best Quote: “Dumbass†– Bob the cat after Cass’s interrogation in Hunter Heroici. Cracks me up every time.
Best Shout Out to Pop culture: All the Looney Tunes references in Hunter Heroici.
Best Gratuitous Moment: Sam emerging from the ice bath in The Great Escapist. Come on – you’d never completely submerge a feverish person but realism, schmealism; it was a totally cool shot.
Best Plot: The Men of Letters heritage, bringing the Winchester side of Sam and Dean’s family into hunting canon. The bunker is uber-cool, the boys have a home and the knowledge and artefacts contained within it can fuel umpteen episodes going forward.
Worst Plot: The ‘Sam didn’t look for Dean’ thread. The beautiful conclusion to Sacrifice was cheapened by the OOC means used to get there.
Best Use of Classic Rock/Any Song From Season Eight: Man in the Wilderness by Styx (We Need to Talk About Kevin) or Ode to Joy (Hunter Heroici)
Best Episode: Everybody hates Hitler/As Time goes By
Worst Episode: Southern Comfort.
Funniest Scene: Dean tosses a beer to a worn out Sam who barely notices it/it crashes to the floor.
Most Tear-Jerking Moment: Sams ‘unclean’ speech
Best Brotherly Bonding Scene: Not exactly a brother scene but… Arren finally ‘taking charge’ of the golum. The Golums expression …such pride and approval. And arren ,,,his expression; his understanding. 2) Sam and Dean tricking Crowley.
Best “Kick it in the Ass” Moment: TTie: Dean and Henry batteling Abbaddon and Sam fighting Abaddon.
Best Motel room: Hands down. The MOL bunker.
Best Guest Star: Sarah Blake. Crowley. Arran and the Golum.
Best Ending to an Episode: As time goes by. Everybody Hates Hitler.
Worst Ending to an Episode: Southern Comfort.
Best Quote: The Gollum. “The boy smoked the pages.”
Best Shout Out to Pop culture: ?
Best Gratuitous Moment: Sam’s ice bath. His bed head. Deans model perfect Purgatory look.
Best Plot: The MOL heritage.
Worst Plot: Sam not looking for Dean. Amiela. Dean’s misperceptions about Purgatory.
Best Use of Classic Rock/Any Song From Season Eight: Get thee behind me satan…but basically any of the songs from the MOL
Okay! here are my noms:
Best Episode: Everybody Hates Hitler (Best overall.)
Worst Episode: Heartache. (So bad ,I don’t even remember the plot. Came in second to : Man’s Best Friend. Just barely.)
Funniest Scene: This season had a metric buttload of funny scenes but the one that makes me gigle every time is: thrown beer bottle and the line, “See Sammy, that’s why we don’t have nice things. From Pac Man Fever.
Most Tearking Moment: There were several this season. Sam’s moment of clarity about being impure in The Great Escapist. (Running closely adjacent to Charlie reading to her dying Mom in Pac Man Fever.)
Best Brother Bonding Moment: The hug at the end of Taxi Driver . That had been coming all season.
Best Kick in The Ass Moment: Sam doing just that with no name taking in What’s Up Tiger Mommy? with Thor’s Hammer. (Excellent Avengers shoutout too.)
Best Motel Room: is the one from Torn and Frayed. Sam leaves Amelia for good. Yay!
Best Guest Star: Hal Linden. I grew up watching Barney Miller, late at night, when I was supposed to be asleep, and hadn’t seen that actor in a long while. And he was funny too.
Best Episode Ending: Sam and Dean just sitting together, having a drink, at the end of Everybody Hates Hitler with Sunnyside Of The Street playing gently on the phono.
Best Pop Culture Shoutout: From Goodbye Stranger. Meg: “Aren’t you a little short for a Stormtrooper?” Star Wars shoutouts are all good.
Best Plot Everybody Hates Hitler: Couldn’t find anything wrong with this plot oevrall. Loved it.
Best Use of Classic Rock: Goodbye Stranger at and of episode. Rather melancholy and somewhat haunting theme song for Cas’.
Worst Plot: Taxi Driver. Introduced ideas that seriusly messe up previous plots. Too short and too many holes as well.
There were a lot of good episodes to make my decisions, but overall I really liked this season a lot.
Sorry! I forgot to add,

You’re not a grunt, Dean. You’re a genius — when it comes to lore, to — you’re the best damn hunter I have ever seen — better than me, better than dad. I believe in you, Dean.
