Here’s a fun announcement from our good friends Lynn and Kathy at Fangasm! They will be at NJ Con this weekend and are bringing several copies of their book, “Fandom at The Crossroads” to sell. The paperback price will be $29.99, which is cheaper than Amazon.
For those that don’t know about this book, here’s the summary:
Fandom At The Crossroads is a book about passionate Supernatural fans, written by passionate Supernatural fans — who also happen to be professors, a psychologist and an English professor. It captures the intense passion, the sense of community, and the joys of being part of the fandom family, while also explaining the infighting and ‘wank’ that is the ‘dark side’ of fandom. Crossroads doesn’t just explain fandom, though — the authors also go behind the scenes and onto the set of Supernatural and talk to the cast, crew, and writers who bring the show to life. Kripke, Gamble, Jared, Jensen, Misha, Richard, Samantha, Chad, Matt, Jim, and many others share their insights on fame, fans and the show that brings us all together. If you’re a Supernatural fan, Crossroads has a unique perspective. Also included (of course): lots of pictures!
They’ll also have “Fangasm!” buttons at the con 🙂 So for those that have been holding off getting this very informative book about our fandom, this is your chance.
I’ll be at NJ Con, as will Bardicvoice. Follow us at @WinFamBusiness and @Bardicvoice on Twitter for all the updates!
Oh, man! I hope they can make it to Toronto also, I really want a copy of their book, but it’s a little pricey on Amazon.
But worth every penny, Sylvie.
I’m sure it is, it looks excellent. It’s on my desiderata list for my upcoming birthday in August! 🙂 Hopefully one of my brothers will feel generous. My sister already bought me a gold ticket for Toronto, so she’s off the hook…bigtime! 😉
So is there any other way to get a copy of this book if one is not going to a Convention and doesn’t want to pay the $54 that Amazon wants for it?
You could probably ask your library to get it for you if you only want to read it?
Actually that would work for me, I want to read it but I don’t have $54 at the moment either 😀
Thanks for the suggestion eilf. I hadn’t thought of that. I would like to buy one to add to my SPN collection but until I can find it cheaper that will work.
