Today, People’s Choice ran this article on the win.
“Supernatural” was also up for favorite Sci-Fi Fantasy TV show, but lost out to the very motivated fandom from “Beauty and The Beast.” Ah well, better luck next year.
Here’s a couple of relevant tweets:
Before the awards were announced Jim Michaels teased the results.
No spoilers from me but one did win and other was very happy for him! https://t.co/FnuHWgrpC2

Here’s the final list of all winners for those of you keeping track at home: http://www.peopleschoice.com/pca/awards/nominees/ Congratulations also goes to the SPN Family for making this possible.
Great job fandom! Everyone deserves a big pat on the back.
Awesome!!!! Congratulations Jensen and SPNFamily!!!Misha is amazing, but Jensen really deserved this little appreciation for his amazing performance during season 10 and the whole series!!! So glad that both Jensen and Jared won awards for season 10(TCA and PCA)!
Beauty and The Beast, well their fans do this every year! Hope we’ll beat them next year!
All in all, I’m so happy right now!you rock SPNFamily!!!
Congratulations for Jensen! Well deserved and very very glad for him. And BATB! We will win next year!

About time for Jensen to win this one! No wonder my voting finger has tendonitis! Wonder what the final tally was between BATB and SPN. Anyway to get the numbers?
Congratulations on your win Jensen! Your acceptance video was very funny 🙂
So wonderful and well deserved! I love that they are all such good friends that they can do a funny acceptance like that and everyone know they are having fun. I don’t understand why the award is not given during the show though. I also would love an explanation why the show and actors never get nominated for Emmys. The acting is certainly as good as or better than other nominees! Jim Beaver was nominated for Justified, but not Supernatural. Anyone know why? Alice? Does the show not bother to submit? Anyway – very happy with this well deserved recognition!
PCAs are the “least” of the awards available to entertainers but they get SOME weight because they are a measure of the “Superfandom”. “Superfans” are the subset of (in this case) an actor’s fan base that can be relied upon to take action on their behalf. This is important to the extent that when casting, producers want an actor that can bring a guaranteed audience to a project, who will talk about the project and get attention on social media. The actor’s are informed of their win in advance b/c the viewership works the same way & the PCAs want an audience. A lot of movie actors show up b/c they have less contact w/their fanbase and it’s an opportunity to show appreciation. In the case of SPN the show/cast are in constant contact w/the fan base & possibly filming & could not attend. It is unlikely that SPN will ever get nominated for an Emmy regardless of how fantastic it is or how well-loved b/c it is a “genre” show. “Genre” (aka SciFi/SciFantasy/Superhero,etc) is denigrated by Hollywood as unrealistic and unimportant. Emmys in particular are decided by “select” (read older & fustier) members of the Hollywood “elite”. TWD is hugely popular & well acted & they haven’t gotten an acting/show nom from Emmy either. Hopefully the respectability (aka”boxoffice”) being gained on the “big screen” will eventually enlighten the Emmy voters.
