Here’s a sneak peek from next week’s episode – 9.07 “Bad Boys” written by Adam Glass. Oh geeze. I’m already having feels. I love the flashback episodes and I love that maybe Sam’s going to find out something new about his big brother. But Dean… YOU WANT SAM TO BUST YOU ON THE EZEKIEL THING…
Holy Crap!!!!!!
I have no immediate deep thoughts. Questions perhaps…Bobby. Who is that guy watching. Oh Sam!? Can Dean manage to wait? OMG I don’t think I can wait!!
OMG!!!! Is Bobby coming back? Please, please, ad infitinum. Oh, and yes, the episode looks like it’s going to be awesome. 🙂
As tremendously exciting as this episode looks, may I be allowed to have an issue, please?
If this sneak peak is as it says on the tin, Bobby in hell etc, then Crowley, for all his assertions that he plays by the rules etc, he really doesn’t. Bobby apparently, did nothing to deserve hell yet he ended up there anyway cos Crowley has issues with him. Where are the rules there? Surely Sam and Dean need to prioritise killing Crowley because, if what’s suggested here is right, then regardless of what they do topside or how many angelic friends they have odds are Crowley is just going to yank them down first chance he gets.
I have an issue with it too. I had an issue with 8.14 Trial and Error as well, where Crowley apparently didn’t tell his customers about the 10 years part of the contract. Maybe they really are going for the “Crowley’s not a demon” storyline. 😕
Crowley not being a demon would make sense, otherwise I agree with Tim the Enchanter… they need to go after Crowley and kill him. I don’t know why/how Crowley would have the power (over God?) to choose certain souls to go to Hell? That’s very curious.
Maybe Bobby is in Hell because he killed his father? 😕 I think killing a human might qualify someone going downstairs. Good & evil is like black & white, there is no middle ground. Even though he killed his father because he was beating his mother and him, I think TPTB of the great universe would account for that being an evil act and deserving of punishment. I don’t know, all I hope is Sam can get him the hell (pun intended) out of there. 😆
This is what I was thinking, too–Crowley could have used that as a sort of “loophole” to get Bobby into Hell in spite of the contract being voided. But if that’s true, then how could Bobby be the innocent soul?–as for how Crowley could have that power, well, Heaven is apparently still in a weakened disarray, and God is still nowhere to be found. Very excited to see how they’re going to play it out!
AND he killed his wife too…
But yes, I’m too a bit troubled that Bobby is in Hell. I thought actually that he’d be in Purgatory, isn’t that where ghosts go? Or wait, was it just monsters and ghosts go up or below? Ah, too tired, brains a mush.
I really hope they’ve thought this through and have a really good reason to do it, other than “hey, this sounds cool!”.
I just hope it’s a trap, bringing Bobby back… I dunno… I’m a bit torn about that.
But if Crowley lied about Fergus’ story and all that stuff (and the exchange with Naomi let suppose so), he could also have lied about Bobby’s deal, just to reinforce the impression in Sam, Dean and Bobby that he really was Fergus (because he had to protect his real identity). So the deal was never deleted, and when Bobby passed over he went to Hell.
Crowley playing by the rules is SO last year, and last showrunner. But the year break also took a Crowley who rearranged Hell from an all day torture buffet to waiting in long dull lines and who only tortured (on screen) once(?) to an all torture all the time kind of guy. Maybe the writers felt Crowley was too fluffy or too non-adversarial so they made him visibly harsher, but this Crowley is off for me.
I do like the idea that Bobby isn’t the innocent soul. I still want Sam to find the part of Dean’s soul that got left in Hell and rescue that, but I’m not holding my breath.
What…………………………….!!!!!!!????
I could cry. Bobby’s loss has been such a festering wound!
No Dean… of course you don’t get to go to Hell with Sam and try to save Bobby. Apparently the only job you’re worthy of is worrying about Sam.
*sigh*
At the risk of disagreeing, I can kinda see the reason why Dean doesn’t ‘get’ to go to hell with Sam. They’d be taking an awful chance for Dean to go with, help save the innocent soul (Bobby), then for Sam to risk life and limb to do the third trial only to maybe out that they were unsuccessful in the whole thing because it could be said that Sam had ‘help’ for the second trial, thus making the whole thing null and void.
And knowing the Winchesters luck, they’d probably end up widening the gates to hell and get sent a whole new spruced up demon/transformer hybrid to deal with as a punishment for failing! Jeez, why risk it? The critera for the trials were pretty much set in stone, (literally!) so I don’t think there’d be much room for leeway with them.
Well I’m less than thrilled that Sam is too weak, stupid and incompetent to actually complete a trial without Benny The Better (and now more competent) Brother. With the added bonus of Sam having to tell Dean how he will never ever trust his own judgement again because Dean can always tell good from bad and Sam has no sense right and wrong.
This looks like such a great episode! I cannot wait!
Chris J – please do not fret. You sound like me, sometimes (although I think you have honed sarcasm better than me). Dean will always have a major role. These 2 guys are both key. Let’s not forget that Dean went to hell to save his brother, he killed Azazel, he killed Dick, he killed Eve (with such an awesome, clever method), he held off Michael from taking him over, he went to Purgatory. I could do the same kind of list for Sam. Both these guys have had awesome stories, and like all teams, sometimes one will carry more burden, and then it is the other’s turn.
I hope this helps a little – I can tell you are frustrated waiting for the shifts. I find myself feeling that way too sometimes. One thing that helps me is watching the two stars in question. I am always thrilled to see that the 2 lead actors on this show are team players, they work together and support each other. They are team Winchester all the way. I try to follow their lead (sometimes it is hard for me to keep up, though – I blame that on my short legs – those guys are tall! 🙄 ).
I was thinking while I watched the promos that even though that may look like Bobby it may all be a ruse. We really don’t know for a fact that he is in Hell. We only have the word of that reaper-he could have been “paid” to say that. Guess we won’t know for sure til next week. 🙂
Oh Gosh! You are right! What if Dean is asking Benny for help because Sam was tricked and sent to purgatory and now can’t back out and the whole Bobby thing is a cruel trick? My poor heart! That would be so awesomely awful!
My theory, sam is gonna get stuck on hell and will get out on episode 8×21(The Great Escapist) ? (:
That Reaper said Sam would be back in a day. Earth Time, right?every month Earth Time was like 10 years in Hell. So working from that, if my math is right…Sam’s gonna spend a month in Hell???
Sam will comeback from hell. He is the one who has to complete the trial and close the gates.
Actually, it’s worse than that. Since 1 month= 10 years, I figure it to be more like 1 day = 4month! Yikes! 😥
There’s another very good reason not to let (LET! Like it’s a privilege!) Dean go with Sam: He’s been there before. Talk about stirring up some nasty memories. I don’t expect Sam to go completely unnoticed, but Dean is known in Hell. As the Righteous Man, as a soul on the Rack or as Alastair’s star protegee, demons will recognize him, and that’s likely to bring trouble. Sam’s got a better shot of not attracting attention.
Plus, there’s every chance that this is a trap– Crowley’s frighteningly smart. He’s got to know that dangling even the possibility that Bobby is in Hell would bring Sam and Dean running. Risking both Sam and Dean on such a trip would be pretty foolish. (Even if it is in character.)
Besides, it’s the Winchester buddy rule: only one of them is allowed to die/disappear from the earthly plane at a time so that the other is in a position to retrieve them. 😉
The more I see this the more convinced I am that the innocent soul = Bobby is a bit of a red herring. Would they really put that sort of info into a mere spoiler? Jeez, Heineken don’t do secrets but if they did they certainly wouldn’t be going to the CW for advice!! Plus, Crowley breaking loads of rules and with all the kissing and stuff I thought he liked Bobby! Maybe a trap, get Sam and Dean off the closing the gates mission?
Does it have to be someone we already know, though? I remember the ‘bone of a righteous man’ reveal and all the discussion that came from it; everything from various saints to Dean amputating his own leg (and Castiel healing him). Turns out the bone of some random nun did the job. Might be the same thing here?
Though if it has to be someone of significance then Bobby really is the only choice. Damn!
Still feels red herringish though.
May I suggest something?
Sam is still the BoyKing, and he was Lucifer’s meatsuit. Suppose he goes down to Hell and the demons just hand over the innocent soul (Bobby or whoever) and tell Sam to have a nice day and don’t come back? 😆
But then, the PTB had not one chance to go the Powers!Sam way and didn’t (Dean’s deal), but they had a second chance and didn’t (Dean goes to Purgatory), so we should all expect Sam to have a rough time of it.
I unfortunately think Sam will be stuck down in Hell for a while. The cast for the Great Escapist features an actor playing “Demon Sam”, which means Sam’s probably still in Hell. I think they will probably tell Sam a rule like, One goes in One goes out. So he’ll have to stay down there to complete the trial and save whomever (probably Bobby), and then Dean’s gonna have to get him out later like “The Great Escapist”. I also think it’s a possibility everything I’ve predicted is completely wrong. So we’ll see.
i think its not? bobby but just a trick from crowley
