Official Episode Synopsis – Supernatural Episode 8.19
I’m so torn about this one! Â I know Guy Bee was hyping it on Twitter, as was locations director Russ Hamilton. Â They were promising something stunning. Â But, I just saw who the writers are. Â Ugh. Â They have to score one winner, right? Â They’re due?? Â Anyway, it’s time for the second trial! I’m already freaking out for poor Sammy.
8.19 – “Taxi Driver”
SAM AND DEAN FACE THE SECOND TRIAL — Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) respond to a call from Kevin (guest star Osric Chau), who is terrified after hearing Crowley’s (guest star Mark Sheppard) voice in his head. After hearing Kevin’s news, Sam and Dean team up with reaper named Ajay (guest star Assaf Cohen), who helps them deal with the second trial from the Tablet. Meanwhile, Dean receives a visit from Naomi (guest star Amanda Tapping) and realizes he must find Benny (guest star Ty Olsson) and ask for a huge favor.
Guy Bee directed the episode written by Eugenie Ross-Leming & Brad Buckner.
Â
I’ll be honest, I did the same thing. I went ooooo synopsis for 8.19… wait… D’oh!
Well fingers crossed – as you say, they have to score one winner (surely).
It’s got a really good synopsis…and my stomach is starting to hurt already!
I actually liked Guy Bee’s episodes, but I have a habit of liking things that no one else does, like the 3rd Transformers movie. Asylum scared the crap out of me, Family Matters made me extremely sad, and excited! Whereas I thought Frontierland was just plain exciting. I think the synopsis is awesome, and terrifying. I’m so scared that Sam won’t survive the trials, and Dean does something extremely stupid because of it. This whole trials thing scares the crap out of me.
Man this sounds like it could be awesome. I really, really (like really, really) hope Eugenie and Brad get this one right. Could be a doozy if they do.
Love the synopsis, love the director, the writers? not so much. 😐 Let’s hope they surprise us all and make us regret the nasty thoughts we are all having about them. Yes I know you’re thinking it too. 😆
Yes those writers stomping all over an episode that has Benny in it. I am really afraid of a reprise of Southern Comfort (I don’t know who wrote SC)
Really worried. 😥
Southern Comfort was written by Adam Glass, another one of my unfavorites. I do wish this episode had stronger writers. I’ll hold thoughts until I see how it plays out. Looking at their credits the only one I had massive problems with was MBFWB. Even Route 666 isn’t one I loath, unlike some other episodes.
Count me in the “anticipation/dreading” category too. LOVE Guy Bee, and it’s clear that the cast and crew love him too; some of the best stories come about from times that Guy is up there directing. And it’s true, “A Little Slice of Kevin” was a pretty good episodes. Maybe because this episode seems to pivotal, it will have to be tightly done (as in overseen by JC quite a bit). I am hopefully optimistic and fearful at that same time!

i don’t think this will be about sam
Actually I am worried because Sam does not seem to be part of the picture here.I dont want Dean being part of Sam’s story and Sam not being part of Dean’s.I am not saying this will happen but that I am worried that this may happen.
Well, at least it’s back to the trials; maybe some resolve to Benny, and Guy is directing. The writers; not so much, but 3 out of 4 is good, so we’ll see.
It sounds amazing! Love the director. Want to trust him and what he thinks of the writing. But very worried about the writers and what they will do to a great story idea. ( Also worried about Sam…)
