So, is anyone shocked that when Dean trusts an untrustworthy character it turns out he is right, and we get two episodes devoted to establishing just how sympathetic the character is?

No but dont worry Sam’s being mature you see .That’s the answer last season it was a hand rub this year its maturity .So Benny the latest addition to the Dean brotherhood can have his sympathetic pov .
OMG! I’m completely shocked!!! *sarcasm*
The Sam-hate out there is unreal. The TV Guide has now posted their piece, and wow, the comments.

I can’t help feeling that the writers are playing into that particular faction’s hands, and if those are the kind of fans they are writing for I judge them hard.
may be they would rename the show from supernatural to Dean and his friends show, unbelievable
i love this benny/dean story- dean needs someone who has his back and is as loyal to him as he is loyal to everyone else. sam and cas and bobby ect…. bobby is dead and sam and cas are far from loyal to dean at this point of the show. this benny story could go so many differant ways. i can’t wait to see where the writers take it.
See this is what concerns me if Dean is proved to be right to trust Benny and you add his past record then there is a danger of Dean becoming untouchable both in his judgement and his morality while Sam will be seen not only wrong in his judgement but in his loyalty to Dean.
Sam may want normal but that isnt making him disloyal to Dean unless you believe Sam has to live his life by Dean’s rules and has no rights. And right now Sam is there with Dean , right beside him .
