Episode Description and Spoilers for Supernatural Episode 8.04
There’s some tidbits of information that has come out about Episode 8.04 today. First, the official episode description from The CW:
Bitten (8.04)
A UNIQUE EPISODE OF SUPERNATURAL — Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) investigate a bizarre murder in a college town. Close on the tail of their suspect, they bust into an apartment to find two dead bodies and a laptop cued up to some disturbing video footage. The footage begins with Brian (guest star Leigh Parker), Mike (guest star Brandon W. Jones) and Kate (guest star Britni Sheridan) hearing about an unusual animal attack in their town and the rest of the story is revealed through their eyes. Sam and Dean become unknowing participants in a unique student film. Thomas J. Wright directed the episode written by Robbie Thompson (#804).
This is the latest from Zap2It, and I got to admit, this one’s a pretty good reveal. It looks like it’s coming from the interview session yesterday with Robert Singer and Jeremy Carver. I haven’t heard this one yet.
Here’s the blurb as written by Zap2It:
Now, we’ll see a unique “found footage” episode in the vein of “Chronicle,” with a little “Paranormal Activity” thrown in for good measure. The fourth episode of Season 8, entitled “Bitten,” will find Sam and Dean traveling to a college town to investigate a very strange murder. When they enter an apartment, they’ll find two dead bodies and a laptop — with a strange student film cued up and ready to play. The bulk of the episode will take place within the found footage, as Sam and Dean learn that they’ve unwittingly been cast in a creepy movie.
Brandon W. Jones and Britni Sheridan will guest star as the students investigating an “animal attack” within the footage. “You’re living in this found footage. The boys bracketed on either side in the opening and at the very end,” executive producer Bob Singer teases, praising Parker, Jones and Sheridan for their contributions. “But for 95 percent of the show, you’re living in this found footage. [The Winchesters] are in it unknowingly, so it’s crazy. It’s a really good episode, very compelling, and has great guest stars. It deals with college kids.”

So, does this concept sound interesting to you? I got to admit, considering it’s coming from Robbie Thompson, and I have some high hopes.
The only thing I don’t like about this is that after a 5-month hiatus, we get three new episodes and then this one is mostly the three teenagers and very little Sam and Dean (according to spoilers) who we have no investment in and will never see again. Although, I really like Robbie Thompson’s work.
If there is a debate on that night, I’ll probably catch the debate and watch this the next morning. I’ve had it up to my eyeballs with episodes dedicated to guest stars.
Fear not, Ginger. No debates that night.
I think it sounds amazing. I love twists like this. And if I am reading it right The boys are definitely in it. Sam and Dean are in the found footage…They arrive, find this movie and then see themselves cast in this creepy thing. So we see them in the beginning of the show finding the movie…we watch it with them, and with them, see Sam and Dean somehow cast beyond their control in this creepy college made movie …and then we see, at the end of the movie, Sam and Dean in the real present reacting and/or doing something about it. And if it is even near as amazing as the opening episode tonight, well wow!
Damn! Robbie Thompson do things differently, eh?
After the Slash Fiction with double Winchesters ala pulp fiction and The Girl with the DnD Tattoo, now this amateur video shot ala BlairWitch and Paranormal Activity.
Kinda remind me of that episode with the Ghostfacers in season 3. I love to see how other people (non hunter) see our guys. We’ve been too wrapped up in the Winchester’s live, so sometimes we forget that they reacted to things differently to other “normal” people.
