Jim Beaver Interview – Supernatural at Comic Con 2012, Press Room
Our very last interviewee for the day was Jim Beaver. The fact that Jim was even at Comic-Con had several people wondering, considering his character, Bobby, was killed off last season. When the question came up at the panel, Jim's tagline became "Anything is possible."
In this interview, he gives away nothing, all while keeping good humor the entire time. He doesn't say whether Bobby will be back and does a great tap dance around questions on the topic. He does talk about his biggest regret on the series (yes, it involves Sherriff Rhodes). No spoiler warnings here. Just a charming interview for you Jim Beaver fans.

Great interview, Alice. You know I have a soft spot for Jim Beaver and I do hope they find a way to bring him back…just not in a cheesy way!!! The ghost storyline had such potential, but they really blew it….
Couldn’t agree with you two more.
He seems a sweet sweet guy. I respect his politics. And I love Bobby too. It would be great to have Jim Beaver back — if they can find how to do it without further harm to the character. Pretty much everyone who matters was driven into a ditch by the last two years, it seems to me, made implausible, dreary or out of character. Bobby too. But Carver and his team have found a way to rehabilitate Sam’s character (an unpopular view right now, I know, forgive me), and also a way to reintegrate Cas. Dean is going to be rescued out of apathy and the bottle in wonderful ways. Just cos we don’t know how Bobby might be brought back in, doesn’t mean he won’t be. Fingers crossed.
Jim Beaver does seem like a genuinely nice guy, but the show did solidly trash Bobby’s character for me — too much Daddy Winchester, too much YodaHunter Bobby, too drawn out killing him off. Cas could just bring him back to life (cheesy, I know), but I just can’t see that the Bobby character has much of a role to play any more.
I agree with Aggie that pretty much all of the support characters were “driven into the ditch” the last couple of years.
I felt bad for Jim at Comic Con this year, because he was in an uncomfortable position by not having anything he could contribute about Bobby’s character, but the above interview shows what a classy guy he is, turning the conversation back onto the show in general.
Sheriff Rhodes… heeeee go for you Bobby! 😀
I adore Jim/Bobby and do miss him very much. As much as I would love to see him return, part of me doesn’t. This shows propensity to kill beings off and then bring them back only to kill them again bothers me. It’s like OK this time we REALLY mean they are dead, fooled you again! Most of us are on to that by now. I know Sam and Dean would be long gone if they didn’t do that, but death loses it’s impact. The other side of the coin is that if the end of the series involves a Butch Cassidy/Thelma & Louise ending it does leave the door open for a SPN movie. Wouldn’t hate that. I guess I have a love/hate relationship with that ploy device.
Meant to say plot device.
