Last Call To Thank The Supernatural Crew
Last call for anyone who wants to thank the Supernatural crew. Final comments are being gathered for “A Thank You To The Supernatural Crew” book by The Winchester Family Business (from Alice – and most importantly Yirabah).
Here’s the link to the original article explaining this fan project:
www.thewinchesterfamilybusiness.com/article-list/category16/16341-a-special-thank-you.html
In case somebody missed it for any number of reasons or you are still thinking about it, if you want to thank the Supernatural crew for anything and would like to have it included in that book you should post a comment soon.
If you don’t know why or for what we should be thankful for you might want to check out Tim the enchanters second comment on the original article.

This definitely ISN’T for Yirabah’s book but I don’t know where else to put it (Sorry Yirabah!). I got to thinking while typing up the reply; how necessary are some of the departments in Supernatural? I mean hair, make-up and costuming, what’s that about? JA and JP are good looking guys, they don’t need make-up and hair is y’know, hair. It just sits there! Plus, unless you’re a supermodel, clothes are just clothes. Once they keep you under wraps, it’s all good (or bad, depending on your point of view).
I was thinking that if they spent less on these areas they could spend more on the special effects department because sorry show, some of your monsters are kinda lacking in the scary.
Oooooh, I just soiled myself with the fear of that scary monster (rolls eyes). Personally, I find this much scarier….
What? That’s a Sharpie monster. Sharpies are way scary because they’re permanent, ok. PERMANENT! Not even dry cleaning will get the stains out.
And finally, meet the original fairy in ‘Clap Your Hands If You Believe’:
Unfortunately, I believe they ran into difficulties getting JP to wear wings and a flying harness and apparently, he had issues showing his nipples (strange that). Plus, they couldn’t get him to squeeze into a microwave so hello tiny dot of light (on whom the nipples could clearly be seen)…..
Also, spending less on hair, make up and costuming would mean there might be enough money in the budget for some of this…
….but that’s a story for another day. (Hey, you could totally make a story out of that. Ok, fine, I could totally make a story out of that!)
However, on closer inspection I found some evidence that hair, makeup and costuming are probably the most important departments on the show because honestly, those two fecking edjits should never be allowed to go at it on their own. I mean, could you imagine Lucifer striking fear into the hearts of billions if he showed up looking like this?
Only way you’d fall prostrate before that guy would be if you keeled over laughing. Also, the first thing Michael would be doing would be getting Dean to a barber pronto, because how could you take an archangel seriously if he looked like this?
And stop bragging, you arse, nobody likes a show off.
Secondly, JP; yes dude, you do have lovely eyes and yes, eyeliner is generally used to accentuate same but what the hell is this? Make up doth not the Emo, okay.
You’re emo because everyone you love dies, because Lucifer got on up in ya, because you shagged a demon while betraying your brother and because you’re in hell, not because you put on enough slap to make Elvira jealous. Seriously, you’ve been on TV since you were knee high to a gigantic grasshopper but you still haven’t learnt that less is more?
It’s also not a simple case of letting the boys just wearing whatever is clean either because if JA were to pick his own wardrobe, there’s a danger he’d come up with this….
or this
Personally, I think it’d be kinda hard fighting the forces of evil wearing nowt but the American flag, but if JA is willing to try it then I’m willing to watch it. (And kudos to you on your show of patriotism.)
Little less complicated with JP because if he got to pick his own wardrobe, this is probably what he’d come up with.
Also that parrot/turkey/chicken/ pheasant/guinea fowl/whatever the fuck it is, is the reason the boys aren’t allowed to do their own props. Plus, I’m sure it’s the reason they don’t get a say in who plays their love interests either.
So my appreciation for those working in hair, make up and costuming has increased ten thousand fold because their vision and hard work gives us this:
Shit, sorry, I meant this! (Cop yourself on, Tim)
So, to everyone involved in hair, make-up and costuming, good cess to ya cos you guys have a loooootttt of work to do!
And here is the a little update from me again.
Tim the enchanter was reading and making some corrections if necessary on the stories. I then typed them up in that program I got to create that book. (Only have like 2 more stories to go). Once I’ve done that. I will mail the pages back to Tim to have her check if I made any typos. After that it will go into print.
I would have loved to have it ready for VanCon but unfortunately live got in the way and I was to tired at times and wasn’t able to concentrate on what I typed (you wouldn’t believe the mistakes I came up with then) plus during that time I got easily distracted while searching for pictures. I found a whole lot of interesting sites connected somehow to Supernatural and I simply had to read them. For example this one: the story on the real Benders (www.prairieghosts.com/bender.html) and if you click on the link on the bottom of that page you will find the story of the murder castle and H.H.Holmes. Distractions I am telling you and then there were of course all the news and vids coming out of Comic Con and Boston Con which I had to read and watch. Sorry.
A little information on the things I can’t do in that program. Unfortunately that is a whole lot. I am not able to do any smilies. It’s also impossible to change the letters for just one word into cursive or bold for example. It’s either the whole paragraph or nothing. Sorry.
For anyone who still wants to leave a Thank You note: it would be nice if you would include the country you are living in.
For the following thank you notes I am missing the country:
Brynhild
Tonya Mae
Cassy
And then there are things I am looking for. I would love to include a few pictures of the crew members. Unfortunately, on my searches I haven’t been able to come up with a lot. So if anybody finds some. Please post the link and include what kind of job they are occupying on Supernatural. Thank you.
Elle2, I would love to include your favourite behind the scene pic, of course with a note who shot that pic. So if you could come up with something I would include it in your story.
I was trying to add a picture to each thank you note that would fit the comment. But in case anyone has a certain picture in mind which they would like to be included in their little note please post it here.
And here are a couple more examples:
I do owe you a message for the crew and should have that soon.
In the meantime, I’ve NEVER see that pigtail photo before Tim posted it. I guess it was really famous back in season one when it was taken. Someone asked Jared at the LA con in 2008 about it and he claimed he didn’t remember what was going on that day or how someone took that photo. Fans still think he does remember and wouldn’t share.
That entire panel was attended by Bardicvoice BTW and she wrote up a wonderful detailed report. It has many great facts on the filming of Mystery Spot.

Yes, that entire comment was a diversion instead of me going to be or writing up my message!
I would be hard pressed to pick any particular SPN crew job I find more praiseworthy than others! I’ve been fortunate enough to find them filming on two separate occasions& the crew as a whole was polite, interested that we were interested in hearing about their jobs. Got to watch the hair, makeup and wardrobe depts work, and believe me they were working all the time (on a simple outdoors 35second scene on camera, you wouldn’t believe how many times hair had to be sprayed, makeup retouched, clothing adjusted just to make each shot and take match up! Plus Jeannie Chow is the only one who’s cut Jared’s hair besides himself or wife or brother since the show began, according to Jared at NJ con& the slightest breeze can undo his hair& Jeannie goes to the rescue (and she’s a lovely and gracious lady besides!) I know I spent time talking to one lady from wardrobe and it’s killing me I can’t remember her name, but she has gorgeous tats& amazing blonde/black hair (someone will remind me& I’ll kick myself.
We’d be lost without the sound guys, bringing us Sam and Dean’s voices clear and that’s tough to do because they don’t have tons of time to do ADR on every scene! Not too bad to watch them get mic’d before shooting either. The grips were awesome people! Fun to talk with, very matter of fact about their jobs, knew when to have fun& when to be deadly serious…if a scene involves high up lighting, they take some serious chances making sure all that rigging is safe just so our guys can look good fighting evil in the dark! Catering cannot be done without! Craft Services feed the guys, the crew, & SPNs was good…ahem. I mean someone was very nice and got me a drink on a hot day when I came close to passing out…yeah they’re really good people! The locations managers (Russ Hamilton included of course) were really friendly. Showed us the places they have to get to cooperate with SPN filming. Amazingly not everyone in BC is a Supernatural fan, so they do so much work in finding places to film& getting everyone to agree to slightly alter their day while filming happens (or keeping the residents happy) It was amazing to see how one location had never been used before and the owner was happy about it, but just up the street a doorway had been key in another episode and the same street itself had been dressed as a different location by filming from the opposite angle! They do a lot with what they have. I don’t think I met anyone in the art department but it was kind of trippy seeing one location with a fully realistic Coroner’s Office Granite looking sign outside, but up the steps, people were coming out and using an alternate route so as not to interfere with filming, next to a small sign showing it was actually a law office 🙂 There are so many SPN departments I saw at work but didn’t get to speak with, but they all worked with a very fluid precision; everyone knew exactly what they should be doing& when. Loved watching them set everything up, rehearsals, filming& takedown. Clearly we must thank the PAs who have the thankless job of keeping crowds away from interfering with the job taking place of bringing Supernatural to us! Some are clearly acting as security as well, and have been some of the nicest guys and gals I’ve ever met! And without the drivers(also some of the toughest and sweetest guys I’ve ever met) no one would get anywhere! All the trucks carrying all the equipment needed to shoot Show, a lot of grunt work you gotta appreciate these guys! Speaking of drivers, gotta thank Clif Kosterman, plucked out of driving, to be the Js personal bodyguard and driver& who’s never been anything but gracious with fans on set! And this year, with so many people trying to crash the set, I have to thank him for doing his job. As tight a set as he has to run to keep the show filming on track and the cast&crew safe, I cannot see him being maligned for doing that so important job as well as he does. I know Guy Bee and the ADs are terrific (would love to have talked to people like that, but that would be taking them away from their job! So a big thank you to EVERY person in Every crew department of Supernatural, without whom, we would not have this show that means so much to us all Thank you!!!

Just want to thank the writers/directors/producers/crew of Supernatural for helping to make Supernatural the awesome show it is today and for making our guys (Jensen, Jared, Jim, Misha, Sebastian, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Matt, Fredric, etc.) and gals (Alona, Samantha F. and Samantha S., Genevieve, Adrianne, Cindy, etc.) (let’s face it, there are TOO MANY AWESOME ACTORS/ACTRESSES that have been on the show to list them on here) look amazing on the show. If it wasn’t for you all, then we might have passed up this gem of a show (the guys and gals are amazing on their own but if the rest of the catchy storylines/backdrops/sets/special effects were taken out, I think that the show would not have gotten as far as it has with regards to both fans and seasons).
Also a big thank you to the PA’s for helping to keep everyone on the same page, the grips, lighting, and sound people for making sure everything is set up, safe, and audible for the stars and the fans. Of course, a tremendous thank you to Clif Kosterman and his security detail for keeping the cast and crew safe from any harm, be it crazy fans or just general craziness from cast members (like Jensen and Jared’s pranks on the other cast/crew members). Had the opportunity to meet Clif at VanCon 2010, and he makes us all feel at ease. He’s also really nice and was willing to hold on to my notes of thank yous to give to Jensen and Jared later in the day. Needless to say, I was definately thankful for him to even agree to it!!
THANK YOU TO THE SUPERNATURAL CREW FOR EVERYTHING YOU HAVE DONE TO BRING THE AWESOME SUPERNATURAL SHOW TO US FANS!! WE LOVE YOU!!

Yirabah and Alice, I have a few pics of Clif at the VanCon 2010 panel if you want. I will send you my e – mail address in the private mail address and you can let me know if you want them. Thank you for doing this project (and site) for all of us fans. It means a lot to us.
Sorry that it took me so long to respond to this Eaman. But as I stated before, life, especially that darn work is getting in the way here lately to an extrem. Of course I would like some pics. I think a Clif pic would go perfectly with your comment.
I forgot to put where I am from on my thank you.Sorry.

My first encounter with the Winchester boys was “Roadkill”. It was during a terrible time in my life, and I won’t go into it here, but at the time I was lost. I was flipping through the television stations, and came across this program where a woman was running through the woods with someone chasing her. I thought, “here we go, she’s gonna fall, and get chopped into little bits”. But to my surprise, with a squeal of locking breaks, my life was changed forever. You might say Sam and Dean saved Molly and me that day. She moved on into the light, and I rejoined the land of the living. I was on a mission to find out all I could about this wonderful show I had never even heard of.
So I would just like to say to everyone behind the scenes…THANK YOU!!!! We love our show and we love our boys, but without all of you, we wouldn’t have a show to watch, discuss, debate, and enjoy. You make us laugh, you make us cry, you make us hide our eyes behind spread fingers, you make us think, and you give us something to look forward to every week. And for that I, personally, am eternally grateful.
So in the wisened words of Bobby Singer, “Family don’t end with blood”. I found a new branch of my family. The Supernatural family and The Winchester Family Business. And without either of which my life wouldn’t be nearly has much fun. Thanks again for all the hard work and long hours you all put into our little show. I just wanted you to know how much you are all appreciated.

Thanks for the reminder, Yirabah. I’ll get you something soon, probably tomorrow.
I want to thank the crew for being a family, for really caring about not only each other as family should, but caring for the Winchesters and the telling of their story. Supernatural is famous for being a close-knit set and for being a fun and welcoming set to the many guest stars who drop by. As much as I love Supernatural, I love knowing you all are having a blast creating this amazing show.
I want to thank the commitment of each and every one of you, for making our guys look good, for giving them the support structure to really hone their craft, for challenging and fortifying them as they bring these fantastical situations to life. As fans we believe in every weird critter and intriguing premise because of the attention to detail every one of you brings to your jobs.
As one specific, let me commend the sound department on something I’ve noticed and appreciated since S1 Folsom Prison Blues. When Dean is talking to his lawyer, I absolutely love the change in quality of sound based on whether their voices are coming through the glass or whether we are on the side of the speaker. It is such a small thing, but so meaningful and has been repeated many times since.
The bravest thing I think I’ve ever seen a show do is cast such deep shadows across our beautiful actors’ faces. Most productions would be aghast to obscure their features and yet it adds to the cinematic quality of the series and pulls us into the immediacy of the action and danger. I love most that while the Js are good-looking men, it is their acting skill that draws all focus, and that comes from every piece of the Winchesters’ world being there in support of them. That universe is complete and real, from the sets to wardrobe and make-up and on to the special effects that illuminate every monster and ultimate slaying.
To the crew of Supernatural, here is your applause. Thank you; your efforts are much appreciated.

Yup — hair, make-up and costumes are pretty important LOL!!
(Is that American flag picture a manipulation? I’ve never seen that before.)
Lately I am receiving infos / questions on the book via cbox and e-mail. Since there might be some out there who do not know how to reach me I figured I set up something in this nice new thing we got on the WFB: A forum topic (Hope I did that right Alice since it doesn’t show on the topic list, if I have to change something let me know (Newby to forums).
So in the future if you want to you can leave me a comment there.
Found it! It’s within the second Topic in:

Where do I even begin? I’m afraid that I am hopelessly clueless as to how a group of people even go about making a TV show as wonderfully entertaining and unique as Supernatural, but I’d like to express my appreciation for all the hard work that the amazing crew puts in every single day in order to bring this show to us fans. You guys and gals are truly incredible and I want to say THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU so much for everything.
To the hair and makeup crew, thanks not only for keeping the lovely actors and actresses of Supernatural in tip-top shape, but also for all the awesome monsters you’ve brought to life for us and the bullet holes, cuts, and knife wounds you’ve made look very real (a little too real, sometimes…). Supernatural’s vampires are consistently the scariest vampires I’ve ever met (those fangs!), and the shot at the end of season 3 of Dean hanging in Hell scared the bejesus out of me because I could have sworn those huge hooks were going right through his body. To the special effects department, thanks for all the wonderfully creepy ghosts and monsters that have been scaring us all these years. One particularly memorable episode was “Red Sky at Morning†with both the ghost ship and the two ghosts in the graveyard at the end – I loved how they both exploded into water. Many thanks to the props people for keeping the Winchesters armed and dangerous, and an extra dose of love to whoever it is who takes care of the Impala(s). And I’m not sure who to thank for those black/red/white/yellow demon eyes, but they’re awesomely creepy. Thanks to the lighting and sound crew, the PAs, the key grips, caterers, and security on set, for keeping the all the details big and small in mind and in place so that our wonderful actors can do their jobs as well as they do. Thank you all for your heroic efforts in making Supernatural the high-quality show that it is, and thank you for your kindness and responsiveness to the show’s enthusiastic fans. This show could never happen without your diligence and attentiveness to detail, and we love and appreciate your efforts on our behalf. Thank you all so very much!

*sorry, I have one more thing to add to mine…*
My very first episode of Supernatural was “Lazarus Rising” (which, by happy fortune, was on reruns on the TV in front of me at the gym). I loved the whole feel of this one episode – the contrasts between light and dark when Sam and Ruby are sitting in the diner and in the introductory scene of Castiel, the exploding glass when Castiel trys to talk to Dean, the entirely realistic handprint seared into Dean’s arm, and the wonderful effect of Castiel’s wings shown as a shadow on the barn wall when he reveals himself. For these wonderful moments and more, I must extend my heartfelt thanks to the crew of Supernatural.
Thank-you to everyone involved in the making of Supernatural, including the phenomenal cast, talented writers, directors,
producers, and the imaginative creator who started it
all.
A special thank-you goes out to the hard-working, loyal crew. Every single one of you (you know who you are) work so tirelessly to make Supernatural into the quality production that it is. I don’t know how often you actually get thanked for the jobs that you do, but please know that the fans recognize the crucial part you all play in putting together the finished product. We see your dedication and hard work shine through in every episode we watch.
You are all part of telling this story, but more importantly, you are part of the real-life journey taken by those who love a “little show that could†called Supernatural. Every fan is a part of that journey as well. And I guess that makes us all one big family, doesn’t it?

Thank you for creating a single point in our lives! We, from Brazil, we love the cast of Supernatural!
YOU ARE BETTER OF THE WORLD
Undoubtedly, here in Brazil we admire greatly the work of everyone who happens Supernatural, indeed the best series ever produced. So why ….. Thank you, you are the best!
Well, what can I say about this great crew of Supernatural? You guys make an amazing job! This is for you, directors, cameras, producers, writers, the special effects department, sound and lighting, the hair, makeup and costume crew: Thank You! You are a part of Supernatural and this is a tribute from the fandom to all of you that are always working so hard behind the cameras and are responsible for the show to be on air. It wouldn’t be possible without you.
Beyond of thanking, I have to congratulate all of you. Just such a qualified and united crew as we have on Supernatural, can make that legendary creatures and monsters look so scary, and with a low budget!
I can’t forget about everyone that take care of our dear ’67 Impala(s) (aka Metallicar)! And Clif Kosterman, for being the bodyguard for Jared, Jensen and all the amazing cast and crew.

I would like to thank all crew and cast of Supernatural especially Eric Kripke! His idea of two demon hunters across the America catch my attention instantly. There are so many words that I would like to say to express my love and gratitude but there’s no space enough to write them. Supernatural changed my life in so many ways that the show became something very important to me, part of my life. All the little things and all the people that work on this show are very important. We don’t know your names, but we love you as much we love Jared and Jensen because Supernatural wouldn’t be possible without you! Thanks to make this amazing tv series that it will live in our hearts forever! Thank you from all our hearts!

Jessycka I have a question. The last few Thank You – notes are from Brazil. Are they all in that pic you added? If so, I will make sure that those comments all go on a special Brasialian page.
What can I say about “Supernatural My story is a bit extraordinary. I found “Supernatural†while channel flipping one night, catching the last five minutes of an “All Hell Breaks Loose Part II†repeat, airing a week before season three was to premiere. I had to write something about this new show that I discovered, and since then I’ve never stopped. I’ve spent the last three and half years of my life relentlessly writing about and promoting the show. I started a popular blog then used my real world computer programming skills to build a fan site. A fan site that has grown in leaps and bounds.
I feel like the luckiest blogger in the world. I’ve gotten to be in the “Supernatural†press room at Comic Con the last three years and conducted interviews with Jared, Jensen, Misha, Jim, Sera, Ben, and Eric. I got an article published in the 100th episode feature section for “Supernatural†in Variety, and I was interviewed for the first ever cover article for “Supernatural†in TV Guide when the show won the first ever fan favorites poll. I’ve gotten many exclusive interviews with Sera Gamble, I’ve met all the cast members several times, and I’ve been to many fan conventions where I’ve gotten to meet first hand the greatest fans in the world. That’s not to mention the amazing fans I deal with daily on my site.
Still, there is one thing I haven’t gotten to do. I’ve never been to Vancouver. I’ve never toured the set, I’ve never met the wonderful crew and people behind the scenes of this amazing show and gotten to thank them for all they do. I’ve always had an intense appreciation for their work. Every interview I’ve conducted and read, the crew are fondly regarded as family. All the guest actors say that the “Supernatural†set is unlike any set they’ve ever been on. They’ve never seen such a close knit bunch. That always warms my heart every time I read and hear that.
So much focus is given to the actors and the producers that the crew often carries on the thankless job well done. Given that most of crew have been there since day one, putting in the countless hours to entertain millions around the world, they obviously do it for love for what they do. That’s so rare to see in any job this day and age, let alone television.
To the crew of “Supernatural,†thank you for your tireless efforts, your belief in a job well done, and most of all your commitment to the cast, each other, and the fans. We fans can’t wait to see your mark on the episodes for season seven and more to come. In the meantime we have the archive of all that you’ve accomplished and its inspirational. We are truly the luckiest fans in the world.
With deepest regards,
Alice Jester

Well, I don’t know how to thank you guys enough for making this TV serie so amazing, because without you nothing of this would be possible and I wouldn’t have this incredible part of my life that is Supernatural. So thank you so much , we love you guys . ?

The “Thank You To The Crew” book is getting closer to become reality. We are getting into the final editing and it probably will be sent of for printing next week.
The book is printed and now we are working out the details of how to get it to the crew.
Thanks lot everybody for your comments. The book looks great and according to my sons a lot of the crew might end up with tears in their eyes when they see it.
