For those of you that didn’t know, the Jus In Bello Supernatural convention took place this weekend, April 8-10 in Rome, Italy. It had quite an impressive lineup of guests including Jared Padalecki, Jensen Ackles, Misha Collins, Richard Speight Jr., Sebastian Roche, Mark Sheppard, Rob Benedict, Chad Lindberg, Steve Carlson, and Jason Manns.
I’ve been following the tweets from the con over the last few days and given the fact I know many of you aren’t Twitter savvy, I thought I’d share. Plus, there are thousands of tweets out there, most of them being retweets and rehashes of the same information that make finding solid information brain numbing. So, for your reading pleasure, I’m cutting through all that and sharing the highlights. Please share if I missed anything, but I think I got most of it. At least my crossed eyes think so!
No reason to worry about spoilers. So far only one big one came out and I’ve already posted that on our
Spoiler Page. Since there was a lot of repetitive information, some of the statements are just going to be summaries. If there is a specific tweet I’m quoting, you’ll see it in a blockquote. Now, for the report!
Homoerotic Subtexts of Supernatural
@feel_my_rain: I feel like this entire J2 panel (and JIB Con) is just a contest of How Gay Can We Make Ourselves Sound?
So, it seems that this con was the most homoerotic con ever! Not sure if that’s an Italian thing, but since I have nothing against playing that card, why not? Not that there’s anything wrong with that.
Sebastian Roche
All I can say is after hearing all the wild stories about Sebastian Roche at this con, I’m wondering what kind of movement we need to start to get him to the Nashville con. Talk about the life of a party. No shirtless tweets this time though, but plenty of debauchery!
@ratherastory: I think @sebroche might be to blame for the sudden upswing of sexual innuendo at this con. Just a theory

@an0o0la: Seb said Jared and Jensen are incredibly pretty. “I’m not gay, but if I was I’d totally fuck’em”.
On a semi serious note, Sebastian told everyone about a serious scene when Jensen was on camera, Jared kept inching his hand up Jensen’s leg to throw him off. Sebastian also auditioned for Lucifer, Gabriel, and Crowley. How much do you want to bet Ben Edlund wrote Balthazar knowing Sebastian’s personality?
Mark Sheppard
Mark played it up by recounting the long sorted tale again about the scenes kissing Jim Beaver. I recall him doing that at the Chicago con too, but it is a story worth repeating.
Misha had a habit of crashing panels (I’ve seen him do that a few times before at other cons too!) His crash for Mark Sheppard involved the question “Who has the softer tongue, Jim or Sebastian?”
Mark knows Neil Gaiman and said he’s a Supernatural fan.
Rob and Chad
Rob Benedict and Chad Lindberg seem to have formed a new relationship. Chad proclaimed their love on Twitter!
@ratherastory: Rob & Chad decided they should do an Ash & Chuck spinoff with Chad on a motorbike & Chuck riding in the sidecar. It would be epic.
Richard Speight Jr.
Richard is a real showman at these cons. He loves going into the audience and interacting with the fans, asking them questions and talking about where they were from. At this con, he impressed by speaking Norwegian to one of the fans.

I swear, I hear this story differently every time he tells it. Richard shared at other cons (San Francisco comes to mind) that he needed a big platform to stand on so he could do a scene on the stairs with Jared and Jensen because they are so tall. In Rome, that is now two apple crates.
Richard’s imitation of Sebastian? He unbuttoned his shirt.
Richard doesn’t think Gabriel will be back, but he doesn’t know for sure.
Misha Collins
You know this got interesting.
Misha has to sing “Peaches” to his son because it’s the only thing that calms him down. I died laughing when I read this, for that’s the same song I had to sing to my young son. He got a kick of shouting “Look out!” when it came on. He still to this day loves that song.
He missed the cocktail party because he was trying to put the baby to sleep. He failed.
Misha wants to direct a Supernatural musical ep where Dean and Sam are in drag.
“Are you asking if my junk is bigger than Castiel’s?” Never read an answer to that one. Not sure I want to know!
He told a story about how he was arrested one time because he climbed on top of a bank roof to read Watership Down. Naturally, because somehow these things happen to Misha, the bank was being robbed at the time.
Another unfortunate story (remember anything he says may or may not be the truth) his mother hid weed in his 5 year old brother’s underwear.
Jared and Jensen were kicked out during a Castiel scene once because they kept making Misha laugh. Apparently, they make sexy faces a lot to make him break character.
He said this at PaleyFest, but Misha is the one that fought for the flamboyant sweater.
Jared and Jensen
Just looking at all the pictures, it looks like the boys have already started their traditional post season beards. They aren’t very far along, but scruffy is looking pretty hot!
There was a lot of goofing around at the panel. They were playing with stuffed animals that they were given (and maybe getting a little too friendly at times), messing the the time delay video behind them, speaking in different languages and accents, dancing (I’m shocked there’s no video of that) and just general goofiness.
Jared was presented with a bowl full of coins at the panel with Jensen. He tried to count them in Italian and couldn’t get past Uno. @FiercelyNormal: Misha dumped 89,000 coins in his (Jared’s) trailer and Sadie refused to walk on them and got confused
Jensen’s favorite line, “Driver picks the music, shotgun shuts his cakehole.”
The camera crew call Dean’s single tear the “One Perfect Tear” and they rib him mercilessly about it.
@FiercelyNormal: Jensen would like to be on CSI Miami to have David Caruso’s paycheck and not have to be able to act.
Misha crashed the panel (shocker!), asking how it’s like to work with Misha Collins in a Russian accent. Jensen asked where he’s from and he said “Indorussia” and Jensen said he hears they have unattractive people there. There was also a crack about awesome cheese.
@_thirtyfifteen A girl whimpered when she saw one of the boys & Jensen said that’s how Jared greets him every morning.
Jared’s favorite season is season 4, Jensen’s is season one.
Things haven’t changed since the day they met.
@FiercelyNormal Kripke pulled them aside in s1 and told them the show could go a long time but it depended on the two of them and their relationship
Jensen’s advice to Dean Winchester: Take a vacation. (I say Grand Canyon!) Jared’s advice to Sam: Stay in the motel room and don’t make demon deals.
Jensen said they do have off days but he’ll never let Jared fall too far and vice versa.
Jared would cast Jensen for Twilight as Bella, Jensen would cast Jared for the Justin Bieber bio movie. He has the hair for it!
Jensen joked that in doing the bad acting scene they just thought about how Misha would do it.
@FiercelyNormal: Girl asked why the handprint was missing in the Lisa dream sex scene. Jensen’s fave reason was they just forgot about it

Sunday, Sunday
Okay, unless you’ve been under a rock, you’ve seen this. This is Sunday’s lone highlight. It created so much chatter that well, I couldn’t get news about anything else. So here you go. Apparently Misha has been studying Meg Ryan a little too well. This better be what Castiel does when he finally gets laid.

My theory on the ‘gayness’ of this con is that the guys were having a good laugh at the expense of all the slash fans. And they obviously had a great time doing it. Also, with S6 only recently wrapped, JIBCon was a perfect time to let their hair down. It’s fun to see all the guys hanging out together.
The organisers don’t seem to mind people recording the panels like the Creation people do. I’ve had a ball watching all the vids.

Oh come on Alice. The whole J-M panel was Sunday’s highlight and for a lot of fans it was the highlight of the entire Con. Can you not move beyond your Cas/Misha hate to admit it?
Holy smokes Clare! Your protective instincts appear to be on overdrive. If I remember correctly, Alice posted this article when that video was, quite literally, the only Sunday con vid posted. Thus, the “lone highlight” available for those not at the con.
And this is the very first I was aware on any level that Alice, or anyone else for that matter, had any hate for Cas/Misha.
Look for the love in life Clare, I swear you’ll find it. Keep looking for the hate though, and I’m sure you’ll find it as well. Your choice.
