Quick Update from Supernatural Press Room – MAJOR SPOILER ALERT!!!
OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!! Major spoilers coming out of the Supernatural press room today. I’ve tweeted a lot of them but here they are in order of how I received them. This is only stuff in notes and off the top of my head. The more detailed transcripts will be published later. Remember MAJOR SPOILERS coming. You have been warned.
– Ben Edlund confirmed that there will be a one year time jump.
– Ben Edlund is pleased with the direction for season six, impressed that they’ve all figured out a way to go.
– There will be a deep role reversal between the brothers. Dean is carrying the weight of the world on his shoulders with his family, while a disenfranchised Sam comes back and is all business about hunting. Sam will be pretty unsettled.
– In his words, the brothers will continue “their love/hate relationship based on a very troubled history.â€
– Jared was next and man did he drop spoilers. Jaw droppers. Sam doesn’t know how or why he was brought back. They won’t dig into his experiences in Hell until around episode 9 or 10. Sam was brought back but didn’t hook up with Dean right away. He lets Dean live his life and goes on hunting without telling him he’s alive. There are definite changes in Sam’s personality. Sam eventually reunites with Dean because a monster that was after Sam goes after Dean. He won’t talk about what happened to him. He’s all business and doesn’t want to question how he got out.
– Eric Kripke revealed that they will be bringing back all sorts of monster, including a Djinn and Vampires. Something has happened to cause these monsters to act strangely and abnormally. They aren’t following their usual patterns.
– Eric may not be the showrunner, but he is still very much involved with the show and working the stories. They are working out episode nine right now. They’ve written up to episode five.
– Jim Beaver said that the Crowley demon deal gets full attention in episode four, the one Jensen directed. He wouldn’t hint on the resolution, but it’s all about that.
– Bobby is indeed affected by the events of the apocalypse and Bobby is determined to become a stronger person.
– Jensen is really excited that the reset button has been set on the show and that they are starting over. He is a big fan of season one and pleased to see them going back to that tone.
– MAJOR HEART ATTACK MOMENT HERE. Okay for me anyway. Dean isn’t driving the Impala anymore!!! He’s kept it in a garage under a tarp for the last year. I went into convulsions practically when I heard that, and Jensen found my reaction funny. Apparently the fan girl at the table was obvious.
– Jensen talked about a montage he likes from the season premiere that shows Dean going to bed with Lisa, getting up and going to work, driving a truck (?????!!!!) to work at the construction site. While he’s doing that, Sam is off hunting on his own.
– I asked him what it was like directing, and he said it was much tougher than he thought. He put so much preparation into it. Exhaustive preparation. He was following advice from Kim Manners who believed that in order to be successful with an episode and have fun, you have to do your homework. So he did. Will he direct again? He joked that if he was asked that question the day after shooting he’d say no. So now it’s a maybe.
– Castiel won’t appear until the third episode of the season. They are getting ready to shoot that.
– Sera Gamble talked about an upcoming funny episode involving Vampires. She commended Jared on his physical comedy, thus hinting that might be involved. It seems Vampires are coming out in the day and they aren’t acting the way they should be. They are intelligent and living among us. The working title of the episode is “Live Free or Twi Hard.†It hasn’t passed the approval process yet.
We didn’t get to talk to Misha, but it sounds like only one script has been done with Castiel so far that he’s seen. That’s the quick run down. Plenty more detail will be trickling in over the next day or two. Stay tuned!!!

Alice, I read that there was spoilers about a female realative, and that the croaton virus was back. Can you confirm if you heard these things, as they are not listed on your spoilers.
Wow, I knew that the writers going back to a season 1 feel would be with a turned twist of the brothers lives. In season 1 Sam wanted Normal….a marriage a lawyer career , but Dean wanted to be a full get up and go hunter. Now Dean has parked his impala and he is Domesticated Dean and Sam the 100% hunter.

Awesome report.
If I’d learned about the one-year time leap within the first week of Swan Song I would have hated it. It was hinted at though and the more I thought about the more I thought it would be really awesome so as to allow Dean time to decompress from the last five years and thus be through much of the PTSD aspects (although angsty Dean, angsty Sam allows works for me).
As the weeks went by I thought it would be possible that Sam had really simply not told Dean he was out, and while that is awful — and no doubt will lead to some reall issues — I can’t blame Sam and, in fact, really like that direction. Sam gets to be grown up and make decisions that are best for Dean and in this case, letting Dean live a ‘normal’ life works for me (yeah, while still staggering under the load of my brother is in hell)
I’m very excited for the season, especially as the writers and actors all appear to be very excited for the direction the show is going. Thanks for the great report and so fast.
Thanks Alice! I probably just had a similar reaction to yours when I read about the Impala! Dean left the most important object in the universe in a garage for a whole year!!!!!
I can’t wait to go to Vancouver next month, & I can’t wait for September! I’ll be visiting my grandma for her 91st birthday the week of the premiere; I just hope he understands why I’ll be ignoring her for that one hour on Friday night!

Sam gets to be grown up and make decisions that are best for Dean
I think Dean should be the only getting to make decisions for Dean, if they are good or bad. That is the respect a fellow adult, let alone an equal deserves.
So, I dearly hope Dean will have a few words about being treated like a child. And Sam will realize that, this being the exact same thing he chafed against, is NOT an okay thing to do.
Sam doesn’t need anymore changes. he’s changed enough can’t he go back to the somewhat sweet guy!!! 🙂
Oh man, I am so excited, jazzed and anxious for Season 6 now after this report. I can hardly wait.
**Guh** about the Impala. Dean not driving his baby?!? If you think about it, I can totally understand though why he wouldn’t be driving it. The Impala was so much about his life as a hunter and his life with Sam, and Dean has a new life now and for awhile he needs to separate the two. So, although it hurts my heart he isn’t driving it, I can totally understand it. Had Dean been able to live the rest of his life not being a hunter, I would suspect that eventually he would pull it out and drive it again.
Now, to Episode 1. Sam going off and doing the hunting thing and leaving Dean to his life with Lisa and Ben. I could accept that Sam would do that. He so wanted that for Dean. Now, my big question is – since Season 1 starts about a year after Swan Song, the final clip we get in Swan Song with Sam looking in on Dean, Lisa and Ben – is that right after Sam gets out of Hell or is that a year later, before Sam is forced to approach Dean and get him back into the hunters’ life?
Man, from what little we have heard about Episode 1, it sounds like it is going to be a killer. And with Dean having the weight of “his family” on his shoulders and Sam the hunter and the friction that will cause the brothers in Season 6 – I can hardly wait. It sounds like it is going to be awesome. Is it Sept 24 yet???????
Am I the only once disappointed in these spoilers? I can’t believe that Sam, who sacrificed his soul to keep Dean (first) and the world (second) safe would ignore him for a year, no matter how well-intentioned he thinks he’s being. I don’t like the idea of p*ssy-whipped Dean, either. Those aren’t the Winchesters I know.
I hope that the season is better than it sounds from these spoilers. But thanks for sharing them. :cry::
oh, Maggie13, why being disappointed before you even had a chance to enjoy the new season!? Please remember, these are spoilers taken out of context. If you liked the show before, you will find yourself surprised with the storyline the talented writers will cook up.
And as for good intentions – have to defend Sam here a bit, he’s human… probably thinking to make the right decision in order to not deepen his brother’s wounds some more. I have no idea what I would do in a situation like this and pray I never will face a decision like that. Right now, from my current state of mind, I probably might react similarly. But, no one can say that unless we are in another’s shoes.
Let’s just wait how the story works out. I’m sure, it will come in an intelligent, psychologically sense-making frame.

I literally cried “Oh, no, never” about the poor Impala stuck in a garage for a year. Is this still the same Dean that I know and love? I hope so.
They all seem so enthusiastic which is a really good sign.
Jasminka, please don’t tell me how to think. I am an adult. I can interpret spoilers as well as anyone, and these are disappointing. To ME. I don’t really care how you see them, other than it’s fine if you have a different opinion.
My experience has been that spoilers that sound this ridiculous usually lead to something that IS that ridiculous. Your experience may be different.
I love the show, but I have no problem expressing dissatisfaction in what I see coming. You may be right, it may be that the show will be fine. I may be right, and it will suck. We’ll have to see.
But if people don’t express their concerns, then blind acceptance is the only option. And they’re already five episodes in, so the turn around time isn’t quick. Personally, if I were dropping hints in public, I’d be looking to see how they were received. Critical opinions are as valuable (and maybe more so) than mindless worship.
Just my opinion. Yours may vary. Difference is what makes the world a wonderful place.

I don’t believe that Sam is already being comdemned by some, based only on SPOILERS! Come on guys, give him some credit. Whatever decisions he takes, he does what he thinks best for Dean. And if he takes the wrong decision, well, like someone said, he’s only human. Besides, we don’t know what the circumstances will be. Why don’t we just wait and see?

That said, I don’t think Jas meant to tell you what to think. She was just trying to cheer you up and share a more optimistic feeling about Season 6.

My only problem, if you could call it one, is that Comic Con comes to early. They should have it at the end of August so us fangirls don’t have to wait so long once all the juicy spoilers come out. lol

I don’t know how you do it, I think if any of these guys sat at my table I would melt into a puddle on the floor.
I tried to avoid the spoilers, but I’m afraid their calls were far too over powering.
I blame it on the Hellatus being too long and causing me to go through Supernatural withdrawls.
It’s wonderful to see how excited and enthusiastic everyone is for season 6.
I was so happy to hear that Eric is still involved with the show.
I’m not quite sure how I feel about some of the high lights, however I’m going to be my usual optimistic self and wait to see what the new episodes bring.
So thanks again Alice, glad you had a wonderful time. Totally envious here!

Huh? Wasn’t Dean’s ‘controlling nature’ (in quotes because IMO it was non-existent) one of Sam’s big issues last season? Dean should get to make his own decisions. YMMV, but there is no way Sam leaving his brother to think he was being tortured in Hell for a whole year is best for Dean.
It sounds like you had a GREAT time, Alice. Thank you for all of these wonderful interviews! Everyone seems very enthusiastic about the upcoming season, which is exciting.
Oh, and hopefully we will see the Impala up and running just as soon as the boys reunite and Dean gets back on the road. 🙂

How is Sam being a “grown up” by NOT allowing Dean to make decisions for HIMSELF? Wouldn’t it show more maturity on Sam’s part for him to contact Dean right away but also tell him to stay with Lisa & Ben and that he will be fine hunting on his own? In my opinion, Sam is not displaying maturity at all by not informing Dean that he’s back, alive and safe, and isn’t still rotting away and being tortured in hell, as Dean believes he is.
Sam knows exactly what it’s like to live with a brother who is suffering in hell, so I fail to understand how Sam is able to justify his actions (not informing Dean that he is no longer trapped in hell). I really hope it doesn’t play out the way Jared has described it in his interviews because I feel Sam is VERY wrong to do this to Dean but I’m willing to wait and see how it actually plays out.
I’d just like the brothers to be honest with each other and treat each other with respect.

I wonder if that’s what he meant when he talked about growing up in season 5… getting to make choices for other people without consulting with them or caring what they think. Ie, not being a partner, but being a master. If so, I have to say, I find that really creepy and I hope Dean runs away as fast as his legs can take him. Dean is not Sam’s subordinate in ANY way, and if Sam thinks so… *shivers*
Oh, I just saw your post, Alice! Yeah, I agree… to me, this is looking a lot like them finally pulling the trigger on Evil!Sam. I just hope the characters are allowed to talk back to him this year when he tries to do things like this, or it’s not going to really look like anyone understands that it’s wrong.

Alice, I read all these interviews as if I were opening a whole bunch of wrapped gifts! WONDERFUL! I really didn’t want to be spoiled, but now that I know some of what’s to come, I can’t WAIT to see it all played out. I SO envy you the opportunity to interview all these wonderful people connected to SUPERNATURAL. By the way, did Eric happen to mention whether his second child was a boy or a girl?

Yes I can definitely see where this would be the case with Sam. And if Sam has changed so much, then he may not be very capable of sympathizing or emphathizing with Dean and Dean’s situation.
