The Walking Dead panel was large and in charge at San Diego's Comic-Con@Home on Friday!  12 members of the cast and crew talked about what fans will see in upcoming seasons of the franchise's now THREE series! Two cast members are #SPNFamily, so it was great to watch our old friends talk about their current "jobs" fighting monsters! They've got work to do so let's get to the details!

The Walking Dead

First, good news for Supernatural fans! Two Supernatural alums, Lauren Cohan (Bela Talbot) and Jeffrey Dean Morgan (John Winchester), will be together on the screen again!

Lauren, who played Bela in six episodes of Supernatural's season 3, will be returning to The Walking Dead as Negan's (played by Jeffrey Dean Morgan) old enemy, Maggie. Speculation is that Negan and Maggie's relationship may evolve into something less adversarial season 11.

Lauren said of her character's return, "The most exciting thing is that she's coming back. It's not just a visit...." Lauren's very popular TWD character, Maggie Greene/Rhee, left the series in season 9 but will be returning for the season 10 finale. Series creator, Angela Kang, said of Negan and Maggie's reunion, "It's not going to be an easy road for either of them."

Jeffrey Dean speculated that perhaps bonding with Maggie's son might be a way for the two to reconcile and reflected on the changes that have taken place in Negan since he and Maggie's last clash:

Negan has a soft spot for the younger generation... he has a relationship with young kids that's very honest... That may be a way... that Maggie sees a different side of Negan as well... Negan has gone through such a journey in the last couple of years. It's been such a joy to play but - this redemption arc has been amazing - and yet we still know that in there is Negan, and I don't know that will ever go away. He's going to be walking a fine line, especially with Maggie.

When asked about reuniting with "Lucile" Jeffrey laughingly said,

It would be great to get Lucile back but we may have moved past that.

During the panel, AMC shared an extended clip of that long-awaited season 10 finale:

Cohan also revealed that she "may be interested in learning what it takes to direct" an episode of The Walking Dead. She first returned to set to shadow a director, an experience she described as "mind bending."

The season 10 finale, “A Certain Doom,” premieres Sunday, October 4 at 9:00 p.m./8c.  Showrunner Angela Kang announced an extended season 10 with six extra episodes will follow the finale and air in early 2021. Additionally, Kang confirmed that The Walking Dead Season 11 will not be able to air in its regular October timeslot, due to COVID.
