Walker Cancelled by the CW
The news came in just a couple of hours ago, but it had been expected for several weeks. Walker has been cancelled by the CW network. The fourth season will be its final one, with 6 episodes left to air.
Ultimately, as we reported earlier, the decision came down to money. The CW network lowballed the license fee to an unsustainable number, and the show was too expensive for CBS Studios to continue producing it with no other lucrative means of distribution, aka, a big streaming deal. Judging by Deadline’s report yesterday that the sets were dismantled, it didn’t look like they were able to find another outlet to pick them up either. The article also mentions that under normal circumstances a pickup would have been a no-brainer since it’s the most watched show on the network, but given CW’s financial situation and aggressive need to cut costs, it wasn’t possible to continue producing the show. The ultimate sign was when Walker was left off the CW schedule for the 2024-2025 season, a schedule that was skewed almost entirely on sports, unscripted shows, and acquired series.
Jared shared this message heartfelt message for fans on Facebook, confirming that this is it for Walker:
