An Ode To Kim Manners
It’s been a year since we had to say good-bye.
Hearing of your passing and asking the proverbial why?
Your list of accomplishment alone is something to revere.
With every generation you’ve touched through out your career.
You were far too young, it’s so hard to be construed.
How we could have possibly lost someone of your magnitude.
For me you directed three shows that I still hold dear.
Simon and Simon was the first, from your early career.
When I looked at the titles of the five episodes you directed.
I remembered them all, something I hadn’t expected.
Next was The X-Files, I was intrigued by the twist.
Is there something out there, do aliens exist?
The last to be added is my favourite of all.
Of course I am talking about Supernatural.
The amazing way you brought to the screen
Those brotherly moments between Sam and Dean.
Some with humour, while others with raw emotion.
This is why you have my complete devotion.
I think what has inspired me most about you.
Was what I saw from the “Paley Festival” interview.
The way you were at ease and how you joked around.
Showed how lucky you were that this chemistry was found.
And the love and admiration that they all conveyed,
Showed just how much of an important roll you played.
I believe this quote from the Wizard of Oz, expresses more than any others.
“A heart is not judged by how much you love; but by how much you are loved by others.”
God bless you, Karen, this is beautiful.
I’m so happy that we share the same opinion – the most important thing is, indeed, how much we are loved by others. And it moves me to tears when I see that others are.
And I’m grateful to have that in my own life.

Karen, you are such an amazing woman. I’m truly touched by this and stand behind your words 100%.
He directed many of my fave x-files eppies and then many of my SPN faves too. I too, love the Paley festival -interviews. They were all so at ease, so comfortable, and you could see all the love and respect they had for one another. And then later, everyone was so devastated by his passing, as were we. He was such a talent, I wish I’d known him personally, I bet he was a wonderfull man.
But thank you Karen, this is very enchanting and beautiful.
