Supernatural Fan Projects: February 2017
Celebrating Fandom!
Although originally conceived as a documentary feature film, the story was far too big and multi-layered to fit into that structure so we had to re-think it as a series of webisodes.Women have a long history as participants and leaders in fandoms, and I am continually inspired by those women who have paved the way for modern fandom, the unsung heroes who helmed the letter writing campaigns in the early days of Hollywood, who wrote, edited and distributed the ‘zines of the 60’s, 70’s and ’80’s and have now added to fandoms as outspoken voices in fan journalism, fanfiction, podcasting, fanart, social media, and much much more. This project is a celebration, a history, but most importantly an archive of women’s contribution to fandom & popular culture.
@curtisisbooger 1st ep of Squee! is out. Just the gals in this one but we’d love a shout out. Guy’s ep coming soon! https://t.co/lxRZBXNHEB

Community Projects
As Captain of Team Supernatural, we are proud to be participating in our 8th year of THE RIDE TO CONQUER CANCER, benefiting The BC Cancer Foundation!! As many of you know, this 2 day cycling journey goes from Vancouver to Seattle, on August 26 & 27, 2017. This year, I will be one of 2500 Riders cycling and hopefully raising more than the $7 million raised last year!!
Thanks to all our supporters last year Team Supernatural raised over $35,000 and was proud to have been awarded Gold Ambassador status. To date, Team Supernatural has raised over a $149,000.00!! This year, I will be riding with Ryan, Tracey and Charmaine (new to the Team), with Jill, Rod, and Wendy driving through the crowds, picking up tired, injured Riders, with Mildred my mother working at the lunch tent again.
Team Supernatural, began this journey by participating in honour of our good friend and mentor, Kim Manners, an executive producer/director, noted for his amazing talents on the TV series Supernatural, The X-Files, and many other productions, who passed away 8 years ago suddenly in 2009, from lung cancer.
Donations are still being accepted for the ride.

Fans Celebrating the Supernatural Cast!
Supernatural has just started it’s twelfth season and Jared Padalecki has done an incredible job bringing Sam Winchester to life during that time. He’s played multiple versions of his characters as well as completely different characters and has never failed to impress us. Outside of Supernatural he’s started up the Always Keep Fighting campaign which has raised an incredible amount of money and helped so many people. Many of us feel he doesn’t get the recognition he deserves. He deserves awards for the work he’s done, both acting and charity work. So I thought, after seeing all the “give Jared all the awards!” tweets after the Season 12 premiere, surely we as a fandom can get one made for him?

For all that Louden Swain and Rob Benedict do to make every convention enjoyable for all of us we would like to say thank you. We will be purchasing LED candles to distribute and hold up during the song She Waits at the Saturday Night Special concert in Nashville on Feb 25th 2017. Any leftover funds will be given to The American Stroke Association.
