Catching up with Sterling K. Brown From Supernatural
Sterling K. Brown has a busy week ahead of him.
He has been nominated for his role as Christopher Darden in The People v. O.J. Simpson, which will be awarded Sunday September 18 and his new show This is Us, premiers Tuesday September 20. Sterling has been talking about both his roles.
He talked with Adweek on His First Emmy Nomination And why he has a bone to pick with Snapchat.
What are your go-to social media platforms?
I’m on Twitter and Instagram, and I have a Facebook page. I do have Snapchat, although I have no idea how to use it. I keep cutting myself off in the middle of sending videos because I forget that it’s only 10 seconds. And I’ll tell you something else about Snapchat, too: If you want to use all of the funny face filters, you have to make sure that your lighting is right.

Sterling K. Brown is a happy man – and it shows. He bounces onto the set of his new series, NBC’s This Is Us, with a joviality that’s infectious. He jokes with his colleagues and sometimes bursts into song during conversations. There’s a good reason for his good mood. It’s been a stand out year for the actor. He wowed TV viewers with his portrayal of former prosecutor Christopher Darden in The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story. On Sunday, he finds out if he will win the Emmy for Outstanding Actor in a Limited Series for his performance. And two nights later This Is Us, his new show, premieres on NBC.

“Yes, I’ve been pulled over a few times. DWB, driving while black, questioned for being in the wrong neighborhood, profiled a few times in New York, it happens. It’s real,” he says.

While he he said appreciates the nomination, getting an award is not Brown’s top priority.
“It’s nice to do things that are artistically fulfilling as well as financially rewarding. And that’s a place that I hope to stay for quite some time,” he adds.

Sterling K. Brown may have made us hate Gordon Walker, but that was only because he is so talented. We wish him luck with his Emmy nomination and we hope his new series is a hugh success. He deserves it.
