A Tribute to the Badass Men of Supernatural – Part 3
After I made “A Tribute to the Kick-Ass Women of Supernatural” and part 2 , I wanted to write a similar article about men. I value both in Supernatural because the show has some of the most remarkable guest actors and actresses, so the loss of both are deeply felt. I decided to use the same criteria as I had in my first article: I chose the male characters that had a great impact on me and were also Badass on their own accord.
Strength comes in many ways, whether it is father’s, brother’s or son’s love for one another or strength to go against all odds and do the right thing against what ever the cost would be. Their strength could also be to live on when they are struck by great grief or loss and they feel they can’t. These men did that and more. Part 1 of my Badass Men tribute looked at Family and Angels. Part 2 covered the Bad Guys and Frenemies. Those categories include many classic Supernatural characters so you’ll want to go back and catch up if you haven’t already read them! Let’s get on with Part 3!

Chuck Shurley “God” *Rob Benedict
Alright, we may not have seen Chuck smiting anything but Benedict could portray him so well we believed he was able to do so, and really, this list would not be complete if the one that tops anything in power wasn’t here. He created mankind and earth, helped the Winchesters on a few occasions and he also had a pretty kickass sister. Of course, opinions vary about his toughness and the person he is but he did make people in his image, and aren’t we great?
“Well, there’s only one explanation. Obviously I’m a god… I’m definitely a god. A cruel, cruel, capricious god.” – 4.18 The Monster at the End of This Book
Known status: Alive and kicking
Seen: 4.18 The Monster at the End of This Book, 4.22 Lucifer Rising, 5.01 Sympathy for the Devil, 5.04 The End, 5.09 The Real Ghostbusters, 5.22 Swan Song, 10.05 Fan Fiction, 11.20 Don’t Call Me Shurley, 11.21 All in the Family, 11.22 We Happy Few and 11.23 Alpha and Omega
Benjamin “Benny” Lafitte *Ty Olsson
I always liked Benny. He fought against his thirst when he got back up from Purgatory and he singlehandedly killed many of his kind. Think how hard it would be if we wouldn’t be allowed to eat nor drink. That gives you an idea of his strength, plus he chose a way to eat which would not hurt people. He helped Dean survive in Purgatory and also sacrificed himself to get the word for Sam. After that, he decided to stay in Purgatory partly because he felt he belonged there and partly so that people would stay safe.
“I drink blood, not people.” – 8.05 Blood Brother

Prometheus, Shane *John Reardon
A very likable “God” from the start. Even his backstory was weird but I was caught on immediately. What was this mysterious creature? He had endured a lot but his family and his son especially meant the most to him. Like many others, he sacrificed himself to save his son and others. I was very sad that he died but rooting for some does that to you, especially in Supernatural.
“Yeah, I guess. But none of that — none of that means anything unless I can save my son.” – 8.16 Remember the Titans

War, Horseman of the Apocalypse *Titus Welliver
All of the horsemen could actually be on this list because they are all dangerous, and well, end-of-the-world baddies. To see them means everything will end. War put family members, friends, neighbours and townsfold against one another and thought nothing about it. The more fighting was going on, the happier he seemed. His car was great too. I love how they pictured the Four Horsemen in the series and that their “horses” were their cars.
“Here’s a hint. I was in Germany. Then in Germany. Then in the Middle East. I was in Darfur when my beeper went off. I’m waiting to hook up with my siblings. I’ve got three. We’re going to have so much fun together.” – 5.02 Good God, Y’All
Known status: Alive and kicking

Gordon Walker *Sterling K. Brown
To be honest, I don’t like Gordon Walker BUT I can’t ignore him from this list. He was a deadly and dangerous hunter. He didn’t seem to care about anyone. He only cared about getting the job done and his revenge. It was funny that people started to pity the monsters that got in his way because he was also bat s**t crazy. There is no doubt he was a badass but his moral code was more twisted than even some of the bad guys on this list. He didn’t care if he went after civilians, good guys or bad guys.
“I got to hand it to you, Sam. You got a lot of people fooled. But see, I know the truth. I know what it’s like. We’re the same now, you and me. I know how it is walking around with something evil inside you. It’s just too bad you won’t do the right thing and kill yourself. I’m gonna… as soon as I’m done with you. Two last good deeds. Killing you, and killing myself.” – 3.07 Fresh Blood
