Happy Leap Day!
Jim Michaels just tweeted that Andrew Dabb will be writing the season finale.
That’s interesting indeed. The last few seasons Jeremy Carver wrote both the season premiere and the season finale.
Also good to hear that JM noted it’s the season finale, not series finale. So yay to that!
That’s interesting. So Carver will only write one episode this season? It sounds like he’s really working on Frequency.
Of course the speculation is that Dabb will at the very least be a co exec producer with Carver but really be the show runner. I get the feeling with the introduction of the new writers this year a major shake up in the writers room might be in store for next year. I wonder if that is why there hasn’t been any announcement from the J’s about signing a new contract for next season yet. Maybe they are waiting to see how it all shakes out?
That could be Cheryl. I have hope though that if things fall to Andrew Dabb for a potential season 12 that they will sign. Both J’s have repeatedly referred to Dabb as “the smartest guy in the room” and it seems that they have a lot of respect for him. If things go in the direction that they seem to be going in, I think that we’ll at least see a season 12. Dabb is doing a fine job (a few clunky episodes notwithstanding) and he seems to be bringing a couple new writers along. Nancy Won is a great addition, Jenny Klein has upped her game and hopefully with a little guidance the new guy will improve. RB is a gold mine and when Dabb is on, he’s awesome. Now if only a certain writing duo would pack it in, things would really be looking up!
