Welcome to “Memorable Moments”. Each week I will visually recap what I felt were the best and most memorable moments from that episode. The list may vary from week to week, depending on what has transpired in that particular episode.
Side note: When I first heard that this episode was going to be from the viewpoint of the Impala/Baby, I thought my options were going to be limited. As you will find I was worried over nothing. Also since there were so many funny, bad ass and brotherly moments I placed some under other categories where I thought they worked as well.
Best Broment(s)
Sam opening up to Dean about his visions and that he had been infected.
Dean opening up about his visions/dreams and reassuring Sam.
Singing together. “Out in the backseat of my brother’s 67 Chevy. You started it.”
Supporting each other after a day of battle.
Washing ‘Baby’ together.
Best Sam Moment
Sam’s reaction to his vision/dream of seeing Dad/John and their conversation together.
Best Dean Moment
Reaching over and turning on the wipers to toss off the hissing deputies head.
Best Castiel Moment(s)
Cas carrying on talking to Dean while Dean is fighting the deputy.
Cas: What’s a Netflix?
Dean: All right, well, thanks, Cas. Good work. Way to come off the bench.
Cas: What bench?
Cas: I’m not sure how orange correlates with black in a way that’s new.
Dean: Step away from the Netflix.
Best Musical Cue
Dean celebrating Sam’s ‘loss of virginity’ by playing Bob Seger’s “Night Moves”. ‘Don’t Night Moves Me!’
Funniest Moment(s)
Sam slurping on a smoothie while Dean is concerned about his beer. ‘Where’s the rest of the beer?’
Dean getting in ‘Baby’ after a night of ‘Oh mistakes were made’ and finds that Sam is not alone occupying the back seat.
Sam chatting up a cashier while Dean is battling with Mrs. Markham.
Saddest Moment
Seeing Baby all bashed up.
Best ‘Awwwww’ Moment(s)
Sam saying Baby was home. ‘You know what? We are home’ as he touches the dashboard.
Dean apologising to a battered up Baby from all the fights.
Best VFX scene
The growling, hissing decapitated head.
Best Fight Scene
The first fight with the Deputy. Dean unable to kill the Deputy even after shooting and decapitating him.
Creepiest Moment(s)
Mrs. Markham restoring the deputy’s head to his body.
John’s smile when Sam calls him out with his ‘You’re not real’
Grossest Moment
The Deputy pulling the glass from his face…ewww.
Best Bad Ass Moment
Dean using the car door to decapitate the deputy for the second time.
Best Camera Shot
Catching the sunlight while the brothers eat and joke around.
Best/Worst “What the…?” Moment
Stealing and taking ‘Baby’ for a Joy Ride!! Bad….Bad(wishing I was them)…Bad…Bad…
Best Nostalgic Moment
The brothers referring to each other as Bitch and Jerk. ‘Goodnight jerk.’ ‘Goodnight bitch’

Great moments for a great episode. I was wondering in that last shot if Sam’s/Jared’s legs are out the window. Jensen seems rather scrunched up in the front seat, but Jared looks almost sprawled out. I am pretty sure the rest of him is not even in the car. But I’ve got to say, considering that they are sleeping in the car that they look pretty comfortable. 😉
Hi BoGirle
They do look so comfortable don’t they? I had read they have four or five Impala’s and one is basically a shell. So possibly they used that one with the roof and some of the doors removed in order to take that shot, giving Jared/Sam the leg room he needed.
However as Novi pointed out(Hi Novi) it does look like there is enough room for Jared and Jensen. Thank you both for your comments. Cheers!
in reply to BoGirle
I happened to read somewhere that Impala67 is 2.016 m wide. If the figure is correct for Sam who is about 1.93 m tall there must be enough place. But why no blankets?;)
Hi novi, it’s BoGirle… is a 67 Impala really THAT wide? Wow! Jared is 1.93 or 6’5″ (he says 6’4″ but he aint fooling anyone) so 2.016 must be closer to 7 feet. That is one wide car. I remember Jensen once saying that she handled like a shopping cart, but that was before all the work was done on her engine and suspension. I just could’t get over how downright cozy they looked sleeping that car.
Yes, your concern that you would be limited to find memorable moments was unfounded. The whole episode was a memorable moment. I enjoy your articles because it causes me to take another look and think. I agree with your picks/pics. In regard to the best camera shot, love that shot with the sun coming through. Jensen commented it worked well. It reminds that the LIGHT/ GOD/ all that is Good shines on the Winchester’s and although not open and blatant, has their backs. I also really liked the opening scene with the sun shining through Baby’s windshield. Funniest moments: I laughed through the whole sequence of Sam flirting with the store clerk while Dean was getting beat by the unsuspecting Mrs. Markham. I also thought Dean’s werepire exchange with Sam was funny…. Dean’s expression of self amusement at coming up with the word and his look of disappointment with Sam saying NO, I’m not going to say it (brother banter…. no you can’t make me). I liked the valet parking girls’ joy ride. I think it made it seem that Baby has her own secrets. I liked how Baby kept the purse and other items (hair pin ) safe and gave them up for Dean’s use and survival. I think it was a shout out to fans- fantasy sequence- enjoyable and not to long. My two problems with it were in the writing. Dean and Sam watched her peel out of the parking lot and let her go- they had to know things were up because other parking spaces where available right in the lot and she states “spider caught a fly”. That line was used by Frank Devereaux in Slash Fiction when he first met Sam and Dean and had a gun on them in his home. Slash Fiction 7.06. It implies something more calculating and dark (spider will eat fly) than a joy ride. The girl’s and their hello kitty purse seemed too carefree for the spider/ fly connotation. Finally, while re-looking at the episode based on your article, I stumbled on something else I now think is important. Dean is still the older brother/ father figure looking out for Sam. At the end, when Mrs. Markham is back to herself her first concern is “my kids” and Dean instinctively says “SAM”. At the end Dean says to Sam, we will get Cas to fix you up…. again the concerned older brother/ father figure. This time Sam replies only if he will do the same for you. Dean’s response is something like “Okay MOM.” In the last episode Bad Seed, Sam states to Dean that he better keep the ice pack on his bruised face and Dean’s response is “Thanks MOM”. Sam also confesses to Dean that he dreams of his Mom. I think this may be a sign that the boys are finally getting to the point of an equal relationship; both looking out for each other and they are both accepting the help/concern. What do you think?
I found the “spider/fly” comment odd as well. I thought the girls would be revealed as evildoers, rather than merely joyriders. And while I noticed and enjoyed Dean referring to Sam as “mom” I didn’t remember that he had also done so in Bad Seed. Just a writing coincidence? It’s odd because I don’t recall him ever referring to Sam that way.
Hi spnlit
Thank you so much for your comments. I also think they are finally coming to terms with accepting each other’s help instead of trying to deal with things on their own. As denying the help has only forced the other to go behind their back. Hopefully they have realised that they both will never stop trying to save one another, so it’s best to work together to solve the problem.
When the girl first said the ‘spider/fly’ comment, I thought she was stealing the car to some dealer. And the way she drove off, I thought for sure Dean was going to suspect something and chase after her. However I did enjoy the joyride sequence, I would love to be able to do that.
So many best moments and so many funny ones. Hard to pick just one 😀
Hi YellowEyedSam
So true…so many wonderful moments in this one, I just loved it. Thank you for your comments.
Best moment? From the opening credits to the final scene.
I loved in the carwash scene Dean was washing the driver side and Sam was on shotgun.
Dean grumbling about the rain (after having just washed Baby). And in the end driving away with her all beat to hell. All of the windows smashed out except for the one caked in blood.
I loved that we were finally let out of the car to give Sam and Dean their private moment as they drove away from the stunned group of survivors. All in a days work.
I loved every single moment. Every single time I have watched it. I will watch it again soon I am sure. And I will love it even more.
Thank you for all the screencaps. Just makes me relive the episode again. And that’s a good thing.
Hi cheryl42
I loved your picks. This was definitely a treasure trove of memorable moments. Thank you for sharing your thoughts.
Great picks Karen, although you had an embarrassment of riches to choose from this week. Truly, I don’t know how you were able to whittle it down. I thought there were many hilarious moments in the ep, but I really loved the smoothie/beer exchange. Sam’s hesitant “under the smoothies” when Dean asked where the beer was, and then Dean’s outraged expression and tone when he asked where the rest of the beer was. I cracked up.
Hi samandean10
This one was very hard to whittle down. I had to sit back and pick what came to me first. But even that was hard as I loved everything from start to finish. Thank you for comments.
