The WFB Spoilery Lite/Speculative Preview: Supernatural Episode 10.09
It’s time for the mid-season finale and it’s looking like it will be a big episode. So, what do we know about it?
We have the official description:
Things We Left Behind Tuesday, Dec. 9 (The CW, 9/8c) Dean finally makes a decision about the troublesome Mark of Cain plaguing him. Elsewhere, the daughter of Castiel’s vessel, Jimmy, convinces the angel to break her out of a group home — and then she ditches Cas leaving the Winchesters to search for her. As for Crowley, the King of Hell will face his biggest challenge yet.

So Dean is really worried about what he could become due to the Mark. It’s a legitimate concern from what I’ve seen and he turns to Cas to take him out if he goes darkside. But Cas is dealing with his own issues, specifically what he did to Claire and Jimmy when he first got Jimmy to say yes, and then blackmailed (well technically extorted) him into saying yes again. This is a story I have hoped they would deal with, so I’m looking forward to this. I hope we get an onscreen statement as to Jimmy being alive or dead. Then there is Crowley. If the pictures are indicative his biggest challenge will be his mother, Rowena. And, as someone pointed out, Sam gets to look dapper. It looks like a very full episode.
Is it just me or is Dean eating a lot in this episode? I mean. Dean likes food but maybe little too much? I wonder if there is something sinister behind that.
This show has turned me paranoid. 🙂

based on last year, that’s probably a good thing, right? One of the signs Crowley noticed in the last episode of S9 was that Dean didn’t touch his burger….
Yeah,
that is actually why I took notice of it. In last episode it felt like Dean was in denial and seemed almost hoping he was getting better. So I was thinking if it is sort of reversal psychology that he is not hungry so he is eating much so that he feels normal. I know… Weird thinking but… If not eating is a bad sign wouldn’t Dean want to do the opposite even if he isn’t hungry? To show nothing is wrong to Sam and Cas etc?

I have several concerns about this episode: 1) They have two big stories planned it seems with Dean and the MoC and Cas and his Jimmy/Clair issues. This show has not been good in the past about balancing two or more large scale stories at once (except for Edlund who was a genius at it) so I am concerned that neither story will be given adequate attention. 2) What we are hearing about the MoC is inconsistent. I don’t think that Dean can just ask Cas to kill him. As the bearer of the Mark I don’t think it works that way. Cain is still alive and when he was given the mark he was made immortal and considered completely off limits so I don’t think Dean would be any different. If he “dies” he’ll just become a demon again. You’d think he’d be trying to stay alive right now to not repeat what happened before…. inconsistent. 3) Dean is trying to keep Sam out the loop. This bugs me to no end. The person who loves Dean best and knows what he’s going through and Dean won’t’ turn to him, let him help or even tell him the truth. I am sick to death of “stoic, keep Sam from knowing anything Dean.” It’s bad enough the writers have absolutely nothing for Sam to do or say, but now we have other characters shutting him down? I think Sam should go back to Amelia and make babies; let Dean fend for himself. I can hope that Sam suddenly find the proactive streak he had at the start of the season, but I won’t hold my breath as he’s been worse than ineffectual since episode three…. why would he suddenly get a clue now? So, I am curious how this episode will fair.
